Wow! 7 million! Would this game be good for people who don't really enjoy fps games?

its an FPS plain and simple. what they did with the MP this time around tho with what they have to work with is amazing. its not only new and fresh but its alot different. they added so much stuff i dont even know which guns i wanna use anymore, i literally scramble through my classes trying to choose all the time because each one is so much more significant.

the MP is in no way the same. if you think it is then you havnt played it. maybe you have but... point is they made it bigger and better and ill defend it all day, cus i once was a MW whore. everything i wanted them to add or simple improve on they did. its a better game bottom line.

By that statement I know you play your games on easy. Go Veteran and you'll get 8+hours. BTW because you hate so much I can tell you probably suck at FPSs so you might get 12+hrs if you go Vet.

that don't make sense I enjoy playing Blazblue and Demons Souls and I lose and die a bunch of times but I still love them.

I know what are you trying to say with the difficult ..but choosing a more hard one doesn't really make the game more longer .

Uncharted 2 will never get close to these numbers since it's a PS3 exclusive and 'most" PS3 owners care more about third party games than in house titles.

Sigh... Ok, it's cool that any video game can sell at this caliber, but seriously... Call of Duty? There are tons of better titles out there. To me, CoD is just another FPS that people for some reason go crazy for. I don't get it, and I probably never will...
But then again, I never understood the GTA-hype either, so maybe I'm the strange one, lol.

you guys crack me up! just play the game its great, actually do what you like but please just take a gander at it! the campaign is sick, full of acttion (o the snow mobile part made me wet myself) ;), and cinematics, quick time events, and its fun and simply great! i was off the hype train, as this game got closer and closer, and news of KZ3 came about i lost ineterst. and then hearing the campaign was as short as it is, i almost flipped and said its not worth it. but i went picked it up started playing and its as good as i wanted it to be when i first thought there should be a MW:2.

really i mean i guess you can wait for the review to come in, and if it gets a low score here (which im not assuming it will btw, i think itll score high actually just saying for all the poor sports out there!), there will be followers who then continue to bash it. but for 1 sec. be a gamer, and look at what this game brings! really!

this whole debate over FPS suck but KZ is awesome, and KZ is much better than MW is starting to resemble the 360 vs PS3 fanboy debate. yes i will admit i enjoyed KZ2 much better than MW, but MW2 is right up there with it, and all 3 games are worth playing! and trust me MW:2 is a huge step abover MW, so its not a expansion or anything! infinity ward did an excellent job.

and if i mihgt add one more little tib bit, the spec ops mode is absolutely amazing with a friend. its split screen and online. but holy crap it makes the game 10x more valuable, in my eyes!

If you're not into FPS online, then this game should be a rent. About 6 hours for the single player campaign! But for those 7 million+ gamers who've already bought it, well, have fun! I'll be playing Borderlands and Dragon Age! Oh! And let's not forget Ratchet & Clank!

Those numbers are amazing. 3.3 million on PS3 in the first week? Killzone 2 has only sold just over 2 million and came out in February, which is respectable, but pales in comparison.

Uncharted 2 1.38 million as of now.

Johnld, that is a bit of the point.

I looooved Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2, what was not to love right? I never played MW1, but I played CODWorld at War, and instead of having a lot of fun, mid way through, I felt like I was just playing to get through it to the end, there was not much motivation other than that.

And if you are eluding that K2 and U2 are better quality (and I would agree), then the masses must put less emphasis on quality. Perhaps it is simply the name they are going after. Or they surrendered to the hype machine/mass advertisement blitz that is MW2.

Now, the real question is, would Guerilla or Naughty Dog trade Infinity's sales numbers for their own identity as having made a quality game? I realize, they would say "I want both", but for the sake of discussion, you can only have one.

I would say they would go for the sales numbers. Reputation and pats on the back for having superior quality games only gets you so far. Having the reputation of spitting out blockbuster sales numbers is KING.

I agree, MWN. I think the vast majority of console owners don't visit sites, or even know about the latest exclusives. The have a system and a copy of COD because it's the fad at school, or in the dormitories, just as World pointed out about the Tickle-Me-Elmo. The basic problem with a fad, is it is over just as another one starts. However, COD may last for a while.

just an fyi, modern warfare 2 online is a lot of fun. the only thing is that its really unforgiving to the lower lever players. They put you up against higher level guys, around 50 and you get bombarded with air strikes, hovering helicopter and planes. i can see why beginners wouldnt like the game. it does get better though.

I was looking around at other websites and i read the typical fanboy crap like, MW2 is going to sell more on the 360 than ps3 and psn service is crap online thats why we couldnt play MW2 online. My only answers were 1. duh, because theres more 360s out there than ps3 both working and broken. 2. servers went down because there were TOO MANY people that want to play it online, think about that. They underestimated the amount of people playing the game and screwed up their servers.

i knew activision had a cash cow on their hands, but god i dident think it would be that large.
another prime example that a great game does not ensure high sales.
wonder how many of those will be traded in by the end of the week, got rid of mine today and EB had like 40 of them with preowned stickers on them.
EB should be taken to the cleaners charging 100 bucks for this and giving the seller 60 bucks.
there needs to be a cap on how much they can mark up the price, thats just pathetic.
you buy a game, in 3 days it depreciates by 50% than they take that, and put it back up for sale at 100 bucks.
how can a item depreciate 50% in 3 days?
not even alfa romeos depreciate that much!

everything deprecaiates tht much. were actually both exxagerating. my buddy just traded in NFS: shift and got 35 bucks i think, so yeah its close to 50% but not quite. but the point is that game has been out for a month or so now, i think it could have been around 50 bucks still after three days. i think it deends on the game.

point is cars, atvs, motocycles, they all drop dramatically in what there worth soon as you take it off the lot. sucks but its true.

That's a disgusting estimate & this game was disgustingly overhyped. I mean it's great but it isn't ABSOLUTLEY FRIGGIN' AWESOME, or greater than Modern Warefare 1 from what I hear. Keep this rate going with Activision's action plan and this franchise could eventually outsell Mario. Damn sheep.

But luckily FPS games are bland, and even this franchise will get old for the conformist crowd someday. Someday...

I liked it a lot but I still think Uncharted 2 and KZ2 are WAY better then MW2. To me, even though I enjoyed it a lot it had this "expansion pack" feel to it instead of a "full game" feel. Still awesome though!

its not really updated, they in fact made a bigger, better, and more fresh game! in fact earlier i had said im thoroughly sick that ithe campaign was only 5 hours or so long. but i finished it today and its an epic campaign. and the MP doesnt thirve on perks like the first one in fact it cut the perks in half and added sub perks to each. i know what your thinking so technically they didnt get rid of any perks but they did. for instance the stopping power perk has an sub perk that helps to fire against enemy vehicles i believe (correct me if im wrong). to open the sub perk you have to use the standard perk if you will, in certain scenarios.

not to mention they added a ton of kill streak bonuses, like actually being able to control the chopper that u would call in an airstrike, but still includes the original chopper if you wish to stay on the ground. and every weapon has a ton more upgrades. yea still the basic run and shoot FPS, but it seems like there is even a new game mode or two. trust me its worth checking out!

but dragon age: origins is sick as hell too!

OK.. this game is ment for the socialable one. People, like me, get this to play with their online and real-friends. The only kind of person who would reuturn this great game would only be some nerdy kid who would rather play some non-online dragon rp game. -__-... i can picture the 7 million doublin my christmas. i know ALOT of ppl buying an xbox just for this game and wait for more copies becuase they did preorder. I bet only a small percent actually preorder. that smal percent is 7 million. I recommend this game for someone who like the socail spect and creating clan or w/e and doing game battles. I just hope they come out with more map packs and more stuff :P

anyway, a couple buddies of mine didnt even know of the nightvision goggle set, i told them about it a few weeks ago. one of them went to best buy and preordered it last week. went there monday night and got it. then sold the game to the other guy just so he could keep the nvg. i guess he made out, he said they are bad ass.

Sorry, Cueil. Most people are trend followers, and fanboys for a while, and in this case, fanboys for COD.

And Godslim, I typically go for exclusives, because I feel I get more value for the dollar. They are not water-down ports, nor are development efforts split or compromised. They are developed not necessarily to hit it with the latest fad, or to maximize profit, but to maximize quality, because for those studios, that is the key for survival. But, hey, I loved Deadspace, GTA4, and POP.

I only got this cos Sainsburys were selling it for £26 for 1 day only, deff made 4 online the s.p is just an added bonus by the look of it. Certainly not of Killzones quality in any shape or form. (s.p that is)

The online component is where a lot of the problems are? The first MW as a hole was a much more enjoyable experience than MW2 has been thus far. The quality of MW2 has definitely took a hit since it's last outing.Defend it all you want,but when a product starts to regress in quality it usually means the efforts put into it were not on par with efforts put into the past product.That's why I refer to it as a money grab.

Warhawk was and is cheaply priced. KZ2 was a show case for the latest and greatest graphics. Again, Evilcarnate was saying that it's a bit of a money grab for just the online, but perhaps you can tell us what is special about the online, other than the "7 million" users.

its not really updated, they in fact made a bigger, better, and more fresh game! in fact earlier i had said im thoroughly sick that ithe campaign was only 5 hours or so long. but i finished it today and its an epic campaign. and the MP doesnt thirve on perks like the first one in fact it cut the perks in half and added sub perks to each. i know what your thinking so technically they didnt get rid of any perks but they did. for instance the stopping power perk has an sub perk that helps to fire against enemy vehicles i believe (correct me if im wrong). to open the sub perk you have to use the standard perk if you will, in certain scenarios.

not to mention they added a ton of kill streak bonuses, like actually being able to control the chopper that u would call in an airstrike, but still includes the original chopper if you wish to stay on the ground. and every weapon has a ton more upgrades. yea still the basic run and shoot FPS, but it seems like there is even a new game mode or two. trust me its worth checking out!

actually you know what i dont care to defend it anymore. we could argue bout this all day and at the end of it all, im happy as all because im playing a sick ass game, that keeps me entertained. its not the greatest game ever by any means but its absolutely sick!

you dont like it fine, but dont call me a sucker for buying a game i enjoy! and its always a plus that my freinds play too, great times!

if you dont wanna buy it fine, but who are you to say that people have been suckered in because you dont wanna play it or have an agenda against it! go play a game you enjoy you dont see me criticizing you for playing that game do you! really get a life! or on the other hand just be a real gamer and enjoy what the industry brings!

In my opinion MW2 sucks ass compared to the first MW. Try not taking every think so personally junior,it's just a game I'm not criticizing your Mom!

You should'nt take things personally either, this is whats funny to me! I never said or typed your name. But for you to say-- "MW2 was a total money grab by Activision and 7 million people have already been suckered!" That 7 million includes me! So you therefore called me a sucker for buying a game I like!

I'll say it again. I would never critiscize you for not liking a game, I just wish people had open minds! If you dont like it I could give a rats ass. thats why I wont defend it. I on the other hand do enjoy it! I also wont call you a sucker because you like hannah montana on the psp (not saying you do btw, so dont take it personally) ;). If you like it you like it! So get a life, stop the negative comments, and do something different with your life than calling 7 million people suckers! Why don't you play a game you enjoy rather than talk crap about one you hate? It's alot more enjoyable!

If you wanna critiscize the game thats fine As I said, and your right it is just a game. But LEAVE PEOPLE OUT OF IT! And obviously you do care that you're being critiscized on the internet by some dude, cus your getting pretty defensive. But that's ok it's normal, it's a reaction to defend your self!

I own over a dozen consoles, including 2 PS3s and I'm proud to say they aren't used for playing generic, mass produced games. MW2 took a step back from an already average MW.

I almost didn't pick this up but my buddies was like come on just get, so I got it and the multiplayer was fun for about two hours, then we couldn't join each others parties, at this point I'm thinking what a waist of money. But I digress and try the spec-ops, what a blast now I can't wait for the patch so my friends and I can do spec-ops co-op. And I still have to finnish the single player which is better than the first, but I don't see anything special here yet.

Well, this was pretty obvious that it would reach gold status, after it came out. People were playing it weeks before the inital launch date and i heard no problems from them.

The sad part is people evidently don't care. This is why I stick with RPGs and Adventure games on consoles. I don't feel like I'm getting robbed whenever I buy them.

trust me dude i thought the exact same thing!

itll take you about 8 hours if you play on veteran though. but besides that, the MP is twice as goo as MW, and the spec ops are sick! the game has value like most other games dont. the spec ops isnt just a play through once type of thing then your done either. literally my buddy and i have been playing the same spec ops mission over and over cus its not the same everytime, the enemies always atack different and it seems they seem to catch on. not to mention there is like 5 spec op missions, but inside each mission is like 5 more little side missions. some include being a sniper with, only airstrikes, and claymores to help you aid off swarms of enemies. others include having a time limit to rtun through a town defeat enemies, and defuse bombs!

trust me its worth the buy!

ill argue for all sides. i hate it when people bash FPS, cus of there genre and style of play. but on the flip side those dragons and elves make some of the best games ever!

It a sad time to be a gamer... A expansion pack (Halo:STD) and a MOD (MW2)on the R.I.P.360, probably sold twice more than KZ2,Uncharted 2 and Resistance 2 combined... What does Sony need to do to sell their games?
This is ridiculous! The amount of love and talent put into all these exclusives PS3 games and they don't sell... I'm not going as far as to say MW2 is a bad game but, compared to Uncharted 1 and 2 well need I say more?
If "The Last Guardian" does not sale like crazy I'm gonna really be pissed!!!

Another case of a game which has a good story (i didn't think it was all great like Modern Warfare; it has some issues but overall, okay) but again, the reason this "beast," as many have referred to it, has accomplished what it has, is because a fantastic online experience. Now with that said, it's a fun game with a ton of action in single player, but we all know it's all about online. In terms of story and overall experience of the campaign, it wasn't as i expected it to be, but still good. But online shines. If your a FPS fan you should check it out, but to say this is some huge game changing moment, i think it was given just a bit to much hype ;) Uncharted 2 still wins my game of the Year, thus far.

honestly, to ME, this isn't worth a buy, i just used my friend copy, it's like buying to play online with a little bit of story to keep you from think twice about buying the game. Like some of you mentioned, if you like Modern Warfare, you'll like this one, but eh, i was let down this time around, what happened to gaming man. Games use to circulate around great storytelling, which there are many great games today which highlight that, but it's like every year the story gets run down. I understand online is a huge thing now but that doesn't mean you have to skimp on the story. Let's put some more feel into games again, let's see some more Unchartered's out there. That's why you have to love RPG's
