Square-Enix Not Ruling Out FFXIII DLC For Western Regions
So now that we know Final Fantasy XIII is less than four months away, Western RPG aficionados have circled that March 9 date on their calendars. They're probably seeking more info, too, which is where we come in.
Downloadable content has become a staple in this generation; past RPGs like Fallout 3 have benefited greatly from significantly large digital expansions. However, according to CVG, producer Yoshinori Kitase says the team isn't planning to release any DLC for FFXIII...well, in Japan, anyway. The interesting part about his comment is that, due to Square-Enix's thirst for learning more about Western tastes in an effort to appeal to a wider audience, they're clearly not ruling out DLC for Western territories. Said Kitase:
"Unfortunately, it has been decided that no DL contents will be available for the Japanese version due out in December, while no decision has been made for the overseas versions."
When asked if he feels any pressure to add DLC to FFXIII, simply because everyone else has jumped on the downloadable bandwagon, Kitase followed up with this:
"I do not feel any pressure. We intend to ensure that Final Fantasy titles we produce will be highly appreciated worldwide. Hence we always expose ourselves to inspirations from western products in attempts to digest and apply them for Final Fantasy."
It almost seems as if Square-Enix is approaching the Western release of FFXIII as an experiment. They may bide their time and see if the fans demand additional content, or if they're happy with the game as is; this is more a matter of "feeling us out," you know? That's how I'm interpreting these statements, anyway.

-Say, "We want to appeal to Western audiences more."
-See the Western RPG developers plan strong DLC schedules for their games
-Then say, "They have no plans for DLC."
Look, S-E just give me my game and I'll be happy. And what would make me even happier is if S-E drops FF13 and puts all efforts into the other FF titles. Like uh..IDK...Versus...Agito...FF14...*sighs*

The whole point of exclusive item is to steal sales from Sony version of FFXIII. It's not like pokemon where they want you to buy both PS3 and Xbox versions so you can trade items. I doubt there are anything for PS3.

but theres so many things they could do for DLC, with shooters its normally just new maps for MP but RPGs open up a massive world of possibilities like what borderlands or fallout 3 did.
i only wish shooters would go down that route, i would love a new SP level for KZ2 or uncharted 2.

Now I have always thought that eventually when games get more advanced this gen, we'll get to the point where instead of sequels to a game they start adding dlc in stuff until they can't anymore. (Not to be confused with lazy dev's who half heartedly make a game then charge more for stuff that should've already been in there. I'm looking at you Capcom for that RE5 BS.)

or you could use a different character maybe use chloe for uncharted 2 or even flyn.
show the part where they find the ships.
same thing for KZ2, they could have a mission leading up to the first drop.
or right at the end, where the game finishes, have a massive fight out there.

But FF needing DLC?
Seriously? This ain't FPS or RPG like Fallout 3.
I don't see any other JRPG having any DLC.
And even if there's DLC for international version instead of Japan version, is this a way to treat the roots of the popularity of FF?
