GTAV In Early Development, Script Is Over 1,000 Pages
Whenever it comes to Grand Theft Auto, millions are always on the lookout for any small details pertaining to the next installment. Unfortunately, Rockstar has been keeping very quiet about GTAV.
But that doesn't mean there are zero details. Several European sources, starting with what Rockstar vice president Dan Houser told the British Times and ending up in an article at PC Games, have confirmed a few important pieces of information. First of all, Houser says the team has indeed started development on Grand Theft Auto V and while that may seem trivial, this is the first time any Rockstar employee has ever officially referred to the project (as far as we can remember). Not that it's any big surprise, but we just wanted to clarify. Secondly, while they won't reveal the name of the city - the big rumor is that we're all returning to Vice City - Houser did mention the story's massive script: it's over 1,000 pages in length. Now, we've seen that big number associated with a game script before, and it was for Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain. With the latter project, however, there must be literally hundreds of branching storylines that must be in place depending on player decisions and choices. GTA is usually a linear story so 1,000 pages means something very different, I think...it means we're should get the longest and most detailed GTA story yet.
And yeah, being a Vice City fan, I'd love to head back there. I'm pretty sure we won't get that awesome '80s setting again, but I suppose I can live with that. Just...gimme!

Anyway, a game can be repetetive and still be good. The story just has to really draw me in and make me want to see how the story will develop next. GTA didn't do that. If it did, it didn't do it soon enough. I moved on to another game before it drew me in at all.

And I highly recommend getting back to GTA4, if you haven't already, especially if you like Midnight Club (I loved hording the supercars that get unlocked later and racing them even after finishing the story with both endings). I was bored by it. I got back to it during a slow season. And was blown away by it later. And before that, I was never even into GTA's.

GTA IV is the first GTA where I found the story to be downright *boring*. I have no empaty or fascination for the main charater at all, could not care less if his damn brother dies while playing poker, and quite frankly if only the girls in the strip bar actually stripped I'd use GTAIV as an interactive screensaver.

They left out countryside because they wanted the city to be much more packed with tings to do.. i think? well if they work hard enough im sure the ps3 could handle it..

i just feel that they need to explore new areas... give the south some love like texas or arizona... or the midwest like seattle... while miami offers up something breathtaking for a next-gen game to deliver, it would feel re-hashed IMO...

Why bother writing a comment if you don't make sure to say what you meant to say?
p.s. I vote for GTA Windy City.

The Ballad of Gay Tony has a slight Vice City vibe going on with the clubs and obviously the Vice City FM station, lots of heli and boat missions etc.
As much as I like GTAIV I think Rockstar have realised what people want from GTA, fun rather than too much realism.
It's just a shame that Episodes from Liberty City hasn't been released on the PS3 so everyone can experience TBOGT, lot's of fun to be had with that!
I'd like to see the other cities mentioned in GTA games, Capital City and Carcer City.

I loved GTA4 and thought it was great. As World says lets hope they keep the relationships out. If I want to take someone playing darts I would do it in real life :)

I agree that there was nothing more annoying than being in the middle of a car chase or firefight and having the damn phone ring and lose respect or whatever because you're busy doing something else. That got on my nerves.
But I'd love another character you could pal around with and gain the ability to call in backup again. Possibly they could include a mulitplayer co-op option for the entire story mode, that'd be massive entertainment. And we definitley need more variety in off-track mini-games.

detroit would represent that gritty, GTA-esque environment really well... everything they mentioned about liberty city and the direction they wanted to take the series before the game came out sounded so much like detroit, lol...

its possible, the actual blu-ray discs can fit 50gb of data on them (i know, pretty amazing huh?) and there is the install which reserves memory. that would be one hell of a game, i am pleeding that they have a HUGE armory of weapons, that would then most definatley be THE best game EVER.

and the mission structure of GTA vice city and the world of vice city and you have the perfect game.
SA had the best gameplay features like flying planes, upgrading weapons, picking up some homies and taking over some turf but the missions and environments sucked.
vice city had everything perfect except the gameplay.
take everything from vice city, add the gameplay of san andreas and you have the perfect GTA game.
o and please R* none of this your a taxi driver for the first half of the game crap.
please R*?

i fully expect the next title to have a lot more stuff to do than IV because, R* knows what they can and can't do with the new engine...
i expect to see the same amount of improvement we saw from III to vice city...

Grand Theft Auto IV
