GoWIII Receives The Power Of Metal
I always thought Kratos could use some kick-ass heavy metal songs to augment his brutal bashfests.
First up, we've heard that Trivium has recorded an exclusive song for God of War III, which was revealed by the band's guitarist and vocalist Matt Heafy during a radio interview. On top of that, we've just learned that Dream Theater will also be jumping on board; this announcement coming from drummer Mike Portnoy, who said on the band's blog: "...we will then enter the studio right after New Year's to write and record a brand new instrumental track for inclusion in the upcoming God of War 3 soundtrack." Both songs in question are originals and we certainly like Sony's decision to inflame our battle desire with hard-hitting metal tracks. I loved the idea and concept of Brutal Legend but the RTS elements killed it for me; hence, I now look forward to enjoying my metal while tearing baddies apart in GoWIII. Of course, to each his own, but I just feel metal fits this particular game style particularly well, and I doubt many will disagree.
It sounds like the music in this game is going to rule almost as much as the gameplay and graphics. What won't be stellar in this upcoming action extravaganza?

Yes, DT does have some bore fest songs, because they are so long! 42 minutes!? Come on.
Still, they are a great band with amazing talent. Their entire band is amazing. Especially the drummer.

I have, and I think anything that improves the experience can be considered a bit of growth, just my opinion but well, imagine that battle with Sephiroth without the orchesta but some standard fantasy stuff instead, wouldn't be the same.

Calling someone an f-ing idiot gets deleted and banned.
Saying that you're really f-ing stoked I usually let slide. I try to be fair about that kind of stuff - I'm not a big fan of censorship. ;)

Goddamn, I am so fucking stoked to hear what this new song could possibly be. I'm gonna go jam on the guitars now, this excitement must be unleashed. =)
Edit: Oh, and let's not forget Devil May Cry soundtracks have always had a metal soundtrack playing in the background, with a very demonic/baritone voice in the background.

During the song I form a scene in my mind of Kratos hack & slashin' grunts and I thought it was cheesy as hell. I like the song on its own though, but its not suitable for the game, it was just too cheesy. Those two metal bands have to make a song tailored made just for the game, and I still think it must be in instrumental. Oh yea, Devil May Cry games have a totally different atmosphere. Surely you don't mean to say the DMC is in the same level as GOW? GOW series is about epicness and only an orchestra and a choir can do the job imo.

Also, listen to "Like Callisto to a Star in Heaven". Then tell me the lyrics below aren't made for God of War, for Kratos, how he killed his own family, the God's that betrayed him, the strength Kratos possesses, and his loneliness. And read the bridge too. Shit, Sony could've just used Callisto as a song for GOW, and I'd have been happy. =)
Taken forcefully
A thing which never can be
Erased by time
Since he made you bleed, so violently
Painful is the kick
Inside it makes you so sick
The blood that drips down your thigh
Tarnishes virtue; lies
Wearing a mask familiar
A god forced himself on you
Raping and impregnating
Causing the exile of your life
Changed like Callisto to a star in heaven
Hate not the flesh that makes me
But seek what lies beneath
My flesh and blood will make the stars
That shake bones underneath
Now a forsaken
Ghost in the eyes of her world
Banished for all time
Since he made you bleed, so violently
Bridge:
Cast out from the righteous life you loved
Vengeance comes down from the skies above
To wreak havoc and torment the one
Who just gave birth to her true love's son
Cursed to roam the Earth alone, a beast
Witnesses as her son now fully grown
Readied arm to cast a spear, to kill
Can't recognize, all he sees is fear

Amon amarth would be way better, I mean they have one called gods of war arise... does it really matter if it's about vikings?
I'd love some devildriver, like the axe shall fall, or even better custom soundtracks, even though I'd still play through normally a few times. I know that will never happen tho.

though the RTS portions of brutal legend completley destroyed it for me, that final fight with Ophelia drove me insane.

god forbid if those rumors of GOW3 getting MP the world is coming to a end.
looks like 2012 maybe coming a little early ;)
