Infinity Ward And Treyarch On "Completely Different Tracks"
Rumors are already circulating concerning next year's Call of Duty effort from Treyarch (it seems the team is leaning towards a Cold War setting), but if you're thinking they may look to Infinity Ward for ideas or even simple cues, think again.
There's a reason why recent CoD installments from each studio are so very different from one another; according to the latest GameTrailers Bonus Round episode, these two development teams simply don't communicate. It may seem a little strange on the surface, especially considering that both are essentially internal studios for Activision Blizzard, but Infinity Ward creative strategist and community manager Robert Bowling says both sides are on "completely different tracks."
"The teams are completely separate. And our design schedules and our design philosophies are completely different tracks. It’s not like they might be leapfrogging in terms of franchise but the design state of mind from the teams at Infinity Ward and Treyarch are completely different. We don’t work together, we don’t collaborate...the teams are very focused on what we’re doing and we really don’t let what happens in another game impact that."
So if you're thinking you'll see some element of Modern Warfare 2 in the next series entry from Treyarch, think again. It seems clearer than ever before that the teams are just going their separate ways; the good news is that both are fully capable of producing some fine productions. While Modern Warfare certainly has the edge, we shouldn't overlook that many critics called Treyarch's 2008 gem, World at War, the best World War II shooter ever. And besides, if they're focusing on a completely different war setting, we'll definitely be excited to learn more about it, regardless of this lack of collaboration.

Regardless of the differences of the two games, obvious or subtle, both are fantastic ^.^

Treyarch is probably pretty jealous of IW's recent numbers. I'm also wondering when people are going to start to push away from this series for coming out every year and not looking any better. I guess as long as the sales keep coming ActiBliz will keep makin' em.

i also agree IW needs to do seperate things. MW will start to get stagnent. its almost turning into madden. i must admit though i love a new game every year, but only if they can make it better and new. thats why im actually excited about the next call of duty not being WW2 it might have a chance to start something new and great for Treyarch.

im still seeking the greatness of goldeneye.
QoS was decent but i wish they would go back to the good old traditional style of sneak, stealth and 1 million and 1 gadgets.
die another day i think it was, back on the ps1, was my favorite james bond games.
sneaking through a whole hotel taking out security cameras and guards with a silenced pistol or trank gun.
i miss the good old spy games, theve gone to much more like a action/shooter breed.
like MGS4 or splinter cell conviction, both feel like just another shooter.
honestly if you did not know the title, and did not know the characters you would not know its a stealth game.
i want the metal gear back the way it was on ps1, sneaking through warehouses with nothing but a silenced pistol with limited ammo, and if 1 guard saw you mission failed.
or even the mission imposable game, that was decent.
we need less FPS,TPS,racers,RPGs and more horror, platforming, open world and stealth games.
one can only run around shooting people with a different skin for so long before they get bored and tired of it.
i wish heavy rain was out, im tired of shooting things.

please try running and gunning on BigBossExtreme please and so why sneaking is still a really good tool. How is mGS4 not an improvement? Seriously?

While I enjoyed MW more there were a lot about world at war that was great too. I'm so tired of call of duty in general though, I don't know if I can play another. Ha!

Treyarch had no timed exclusivity on their maps (I'm lookin at you IW) they had 3 map packs, they had zombies just for beating the game which was fun for a bit. Overall it just seems IW worries more about $ because they know they'll make it MW is $, M$ is $.
Treyarch wins only because I appreciate not being punished for owning my console of choice.

I will wait for the additional map packs to drop in price and then complete CoD 4 and CoD 5... nice to have as completed collectors' additions to my games collection... similar with KZ2.
With the extra saving of not getting CoD's I will put money towards "Trine" and "Braid" :)
Patience is truly a virtue!

Its as if its the cool and popular title to hate on now. Not saying that IW and Activision is without fault.
I think those who already decided they wont like this game simply due to graphics not being a huge step up, or that its multiplatform that seems to be pushed more on the 360, or the short campaign mode are really robbing themselves of a great time.
You don't have to buy it, its your wallet, your choice but how many of those here that dislike this game are saying this without even trying it out firsthand, like thru a rental or a friend letting them use their copy? People should at least try it before they hate on it and try to go into it with a clear mind.
If you tell yourself you are gonna hate something before you experience it, there's a good chance you will do just that simply cuz your mind is already made up

see here is what i like about the treyarch IW thing. we get a new game every year and dif. setting and gameplay. whih means we are not getting the same game. its a FPS in terms of gameplay not much can happen, you run, you shoot, you throw grenades, and cover (w/ the lack of cover system). yeah yeah KZ2 had a cover system but it didnt work lol. Dont try and tell me it did either because i got killed more times in cover than i did just runnin and gunnin! your head always peaked out just enough it seemed for the helghan to hit you right in the nog! So what can FPS improve on, maybe story telling, graphics, even physics, and maybe dif. ways the game is played idk its an FPS. what people are complaining about is minute.
any siggestion to what people would like to see? i cant think of how they can improve the game style much!
anyways point is even though people say its just another COD game we see every year, they are different. treyarch brings ww2 and IW b rings MW, its a nice break inbetween and now treyarch is goin away from WW2 we will see something entirely different. and what IW does next is up in the air but what they have done with MW i gotta give props!

I wish more games utilized a similar cover system in fps games. Its kinda frustrating to see the npcs in games like this taking cover but you cant do it the same way
Cochise, i disagree on W@W being even remotely better, but thats just my opinion. I wish activision would stop being greedy and let IW have full control over the series and let Treyarch wor on something different, their talents could be used elsewhere

I actually can't wait to see what Treyarch will do with the new installment especially if they move away from WWII. I think 80% of the "flack" they received was based solely on the fact they used WWII as a setting again.
I think once they move away they will receive a lot respect from gamers that what people are giving them now. But I stand by my opinion that W.A.W rocked...

Are the two different trains on each track leading to the same place?
I disagree!
Infinity Ward is not on a slow moving train, they are on a plane! (The other guys are on the train)
I mean if both devs were on a train, wouldn't that mean they are progressing at the same speed?
And doesn't progressing mean to move forward, not backwards?
Modern Warfare is in Modern Day time, WAW is in a World War 2 setting.
Modern Warfare 2 is in modern day time, the new COD is going even further back in time.
If you call that moving forward, I must be moving back.
Infinity Ward = Fighter Jet
Treyarch = Train.

Infinity Ward = cares about $$
Treyarch = cares about satisfying the customer
The day that IW creates a single player campaign that is longer than 6 hours and has some sort of story, that will be the day that I will consider them as "moving forward".
It is alot easier to put your time into online multiplayer than it is to invest your time into an actual plot with a good story and great voice acting. W@W had both.
