GameFly Now Selling New Games
If you aren't a GameFly member just yet, you might want to sign up now, especially if you want to nab - and own - new games quickly.
GameFly has rapidly expanded their services over the past few years, as they've quickly produced a variety of new enticing options and features for consumers and renters alike. As of now, you can purchase brand new games at their official site, and their available stock is guaranteed to grow over time. For now, you can grab all sorts of titles on multiple platforms and if you've been a long-time member, you get an automatic benefit. If you wish to "Keep It," the price for someone who has been a GameFly member for over a year is cheaper than normal but other than that, you really won't be saving much. If you include the shipping costs, the overall price of new games aren't really any different from standard retail price tags at GameStop, but you might get a little break. It'll probably depend on how old the game is; this is something we'll have to examine over time. Ideally, members will get extra advantages and besides, how many times have you rented a game and said, "hey, I need this in my collection now"? GameFly wants to make the entire process easier, it seems.
Still, I say they need more copies of huge titles. Many times, you'll be waiting for quite a long time to play the latest and greatest, unless you get a little lucky right off the bat.

As for on waiting on big titles... GameFly has no guarantee that each one of the copies they send out will be 'kept.' So unlike say, Gamestop, it's probably not cost-effective to order enough copies to cover their quasi-pre-orders.
On the negative side, you do have to wait for games. Spend a few hours with a game and decide you don't want to play anymore? You'll have to wait at least two days for a new game most of the time. One day for the postal guy to pick up the game (the next day), and at least another for GF to mail you a new one with their 'fast return' system (post office lets them know the game is on its way back so they go ahead and ship the next one on your list).
I still think GameFly is totally worth it though (I got my 10% discount months ago). I get to play full versions of games that I'm not sure about. No relying potentially crappy demos for me. :)

ive "kept" 5 games from them, and returned over 20. but out of those 20 ive returned, i dont think theres ANY i would have bought from the store on my own.
although, foolishly, i must admit that i just learned this trick on there the other day. i limit my q to 3 games now. before, i had a full 50 game q. so while i was waiting forever for arkham assylum, games like wheelman and sonics ultimate gennesis collection were coming in.
now, my q is god of war collection, buzz, and borderlands. meaning, the next game i get in is a 99% likely buy, seeing as how i would go out and cop any of those at the mall RIGHT NOW. but with gamefly, i can apply my 5$ bonus, and my 10% savings, and get them for cheap.
long story short: if you want to sign up for gamefly, keep your q 5 games or less! if not, prepare to be flooded with the legends of wrestlemania and wheelman's of the world!

I've gotten a ton of games on Day 1. Batman, MW2, Madden, and I just got AC2. And I can usually buy a brand new game for 40 or 45 dollars from them. You can't beat Gamefly.

anyway; my strategy is that my q has only upcoming games 40 games currently. from now up to March 2010 and about 15 TBA to be announced date wise. If you keep every game ever created in your q, then it's no telling what your next game will be even if you have them in a specific order.
