Rumor Busting: Gears Of War 3 Won't Be Found On PS3
Gears of War 2Despite the obvious fact that the third-party exclusive is all but dead this generation, there's always plenty of debate surrounding franchises like Gears of War.
Recently, Epic Games head man Mark Rein made a statement that caused everyone to explode in a series of "what if" discussions that focused on the possibility of the excellent action franchise going multiplatform. During this year's Tokyo Game Show, Rein said that if they were to do a third Gears installment, it would be "for the next console generation." However, these guys sometimes tend to trip over their own words and as Games Thirst pointed out (citing a Eurogamer interview), Rein admitted he misspoke and issued a clarification: the next Gears will be released within the next four to five years, and it would certainly be for this generation of consoles. The idea of a multiplatform release also seems very much out of the question as Epic has never once entertained that possibility and remain loyal to the 360 fan base. After all, it's 360 owners who have made the franchise in question so popular; at this point, it'd be like taking God of War multiplatform, and that just won't happen.
As much as I love Gears, I figure the 360 can keep this one. There are so many PS3 exclusives I want, and so many I've already played, my 360 collection has been at zero growth for a while. And when Gears 3 comes out, it'll be mine immediately, so it can stay exclusive for all I care.

I think the key thing people need to remember here is that Msft only published Vampire Rain and Ninja Gaiden and that Tecmo owns Ninja Gaiden and whatever company developed Vampire Rain owns the rights to Vampire Rain, which is why those games appeared on the PS3.
Gears may be developed by Epic, but I believe Msft owns the IP not Epic, the same way Msft owns the Halo IP, which is why you won't see those games on the Ps3 -- the same way Sony owns GOW, Resistance, R&C, etc...

Gears is a known quantity. Quantum is guesswork at this point. Didn't I hear there were issues with Quantum? I wouldn't get my hopes up, and I don't see it being the next Gears.

he has said so many times along with clify B that gears of war 3 WILL NOT! be out till the next generation of consoles.
because it will be running on unreal engine 4 and thats not due to be completed till late next year.
and here he is now saying no it will be out on the current system in 4-5 years time.
1 CAN WE PLEASE MAKE UP OUR FU***NG MIND!
2 im willing to bet my left nut that a new 360 will be out in 3 years time MAX! and within 5 years time the 360 will be dead in the water.
look how long it took M$ to ditch the original xbox.

Also, your points of view are exactly that, YOUR points of view, unless you have statistics and research to back it up, don't go on about knowing everything cos you clearly don't, and this is exactly why I trust Ben and his word cos he specifies when he is giving facts and opinions. Big difference.
Also, completely agree with Kangasfwa.
Gears is fantastic and was part of the reason I bought a 360, just like why I bought a Wii for Mario and a PS3 for God of War, Gran Turismo, Uncharted 2, etc.
I guess the game that should've been compared to Gears in terms of exclusives is Uncharted, its by Naughty Dog, not Sony studios (unless I'm wrong there) and therefore has equal chance of going multiplpat as Gears.

You're right about Gears being a second-party game; but GOW is a Santa Monica Sony game, which means it is a first-party game.
I'm sure you meant to say Resistance and Infamous were second-party games, but those IPs are Sony-owned too.

God of War is a first party game and Gears of War is a third party game do some research next time. FACT
And Epic Games has always said is a trilogy only for Xbox 360 for the time being stop being so damn blinded. FACT

Yes, nothing plays the same as Gears on the PS3, Gears is purely shooter, the only game that's gonna be the same as Gears is probably Quantum which is as good as a cancelled project even though I looked forward to it for the release date in June until they delay it into 2010 and now no news of it.

Nothing plays as good as gears on the ps3? Seriously? Gears is no technical achievement, has a lame story, ugly graphics and characters and the game play stinks compared to uncharted. Yes they are different games but they fit the same catagory as they both are 3rd person cover shooters with platforming thrown in in uncharted.

i have both consoles and i watched the trailers of final fantasy many times . and it looks a little better on the 360 more detail. not so dark .the ps3 version is 720p and the 360 version is at 1080. it also is going to have extra content on the 360 that the ps3 wont. check twitter they are giving away extras now .and i dont care if it has 5 differnt disks .and i dont care that microsoft has the rights to excusive content fot ff13. and for your info the grand theft auto is better on the 360. as many articles on the web stated it looks/runs/plays better on the 360. like most multiplatform games./assasigns creed for example. you need to do a little home work jawknee. dont get me wrong i love my ps3 but i buy the multi platform games for the 360. because most are devloped for that system then ported over to the ps3. but i am looking forward to god of war3 and heavey rain. cant wait for them. by the way i think the halo seris sucks.if you own a ps3 you are not missing anything. also killzone was pretty fun and looked awsome graffic wise. but to bad for it. the call of duty seris is just to much compition. even though i like kilzone no one really plays it any more.
and if gears or war came out on the ps3 it would diffently be very popular so dont kid you self. and if i didnt own a ps3 now and gears came out for it i would sell my soul to get one. 95% of my friends that play online on the 360 would dump there 360 in a heart beat if it went multi platform.
uncarted 2 is a greatlooking game but to me it doent look any better than the first one. it is funner thatn the first one to play though. sony better get some game dev. to put some games in 1080. resolutin for gods sake. i am beginning to think it just wont hadle it very well. hope im wrong about that though.
right now and in the future cod monderwarefare seris rules the online play world. and i am thatfull that it is on both systems. so themore games we have multi platform the better.

I haven't the slightest idea where you're getting your information, but it's ALL wrong. The bottom line is that if you have both consoles and get FFXIII for the 360, I'd have to say there's something wrong with you. Most times, it doesn't matter - multiplats are usually mostly identical - but in this case, absolutely nobody is predicting the 360 version of FFXIII to be BETTER than the PS3 version.

This guy kind of reminds me of the kid I saw at GameStop on Saturday as I was browsing. I overheard him talking to another customer. Actually, I heard the customer first, repeating so "You're saying Msft over Sony." The kid said something back that I can't recall, and I tried to ignore him (as I normally do).
But, then he said something I couldn't ignore; and I felt like I was back in 2006 again.
"When Sony gets any good exclusive games, then I'll give them a chance. And I own a PS3."
Like, every Xbot who is an Xbot doesn't make that same claim so they don't look like an Xbot!
Well, I was stunned; I couldn't ignore him anymore, so I interjected "Are you kidding me?"
To which he replied, "When Sony gets 10 good exclusive PS3 games I'll take them seriously."
Well, after that it wasn't pretty as I told him to stop talking out of his ass and I and another customer put him in his place, quickly listing the Ps3's good, exclusive franchises.
By the way, when I mentioned Gran Turismo, he replied, "Isn't Gran Turismo coming to the 360?"

sorry to upset you but if you had both consoles you could see for your self that when you go to download the trailers of ff13 it clearly states what video resolution they are in.and info on the game. on the 360 it clearly states the trailer is in 1080 and when you go to download it on the ps3 it states it is in 720. maybe the 360 upconverts it. but it is 1080. i will callange you to a freindly wager for a dollar on that. if your up to it.
as a admin of the article and so called know it all for us ps3 gamers you would have aready know that.
i can try to take a pic of it on the 360 to show you or you can just find a 360 and download it your self. better yet buy one so you can trully compare games in the future after all you are the author here. i find it a little absurd you dont own both
do what id did play them both multible times on both systems set up with hdmi cables on a 1080 tv and you will see it does look a little shaper and better on the 360. and no mater what i will be buying it for the 360. its to big of a game for me not to pay attention to the video quaity and detail of the game. and i dont care how many disks it on. i have been swaping disks alot of times in the past on the ps2. so it not a problem at all.
you are right about multiplats are usually (mostly) identical but in this case it is not. also go to the gamespot webpage and they have a comparison of the 2. you will see that the trees and smaller detail in the backgrounds are blocky and on the 360 there not. just more detial is avail in the 360 version. well let me know on the wager
and yes i still would like to have gears come to the ps3 but it wont.

How stupid can you be? Just because a trailer is rendered in 1080p doesn't mean the game is in 1080p. And if you paid closer attention your able to download te 720p or 1080p trailer from the psn.

for you info i am 44 years old i know thats sounds pretty old in the video game world but i have be playing since before the atari. and have owned most systems i am not a xbot or a fan of any one system. but i do own a ps3 for the last 2 years great system but i am loyal to none. i think people get to hung up on a dam piece of electronics to be objective.
i like palying all the great games i can. but i read you comments and i seen a error in my post. i went and turned on my ps3 and checked out the trailer and it is the 1080 hd one. that i did compare the 360 to. good catch.
But i was thinking about what ben said about the the game being in 720. and hurried my reply to the post. and i stick by my descision, it still looks a little better on the 360. and the guys that post replys about how good the games look on the pc are correct. they are really great on a high end pc. but i dont have the funds to build a real nice gaming computer. if i did and ff13 was on it i would probley buy that for it. i mean to offend no one. this is just a opion of mine everone will have to make a jugment for them selfs. no since this started out to be about gears of war. i stick to my opion on that only. i am sure when ff13 comes around there will be plenty to talk about then.
