Red Dead Redemption Rides Onto Shelves This April

One would think the gaming industry would've enjoyed some "AAA" Western-based FPSs, but it has yet to happen. This is why we're all hoping that Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption puts the cowboy in the limelight for once.

Many have been anticipating this game for quite some time, and we know the developers have been putting a great deal of time and effort into RDR. Up until now, we weren't sure of its expected release date but according to VideoGamer, the game is now scheduled to arrive some time in April. This comes along with the announcement of a new trailer, "My Name is John Marston," which will hit the web on Tuesday, December 1. We have high hopes for Redemption and it's a good plan to stick it into April, as March is so overloaded with blockbusters and promising titles, we're certain Rockstar's project would get overshadowed. But we have no idea what we might see in April - besides Gran Turismo 5 in North America, possibly - so perhaps RDR will flourish there. Of course, they'll need to have produced a good game for any "flourishing" to take place, but based on what we've seen so far, things are definitely looking up. We can't wait to check out that video next week; it should be most revealing.

And by the way, although Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood isn't really an elite title, it's still a solid and entertaining shooter, and a good deal better than the original game. That might tide you over until April, if you're in need of some old-fashioned Western action.

of all the titles coming out in early 2010, none are higher on my list than RDR... even god of war and heavy rain (PS3 exclusives) aren't as important to me as this game is... but, like i've said a hundred times, i'm just a sucker for sandbox games :D...

and the western genre doesn't have anything really worth your time... it's a shame considering how many great western movies there are...

With all the stuff coming out in March I think I'm going to be busy with those titles well into April...

Well this certainly looks better then call of juerez. That game seemed more like a bad joke to me.

Quite possibly the only Rockstar game that sparked an interest for me without hype. I'll be keeping an eye on the reviews for this one.

COJ had too much screen tearing, demo didn't impress me. I'm counting on Red Dead to give me my John Wayne,Clint Eastwood or Charles Bronson fix.

Why hasn't every dev figured out how to fix screen tearing?

I hate it.

"March is so overloaded" - so far yeah, but how many of those titles will be delayed with at least a few weeks? Based on experience with launch dates X months into the future I'd guess a good majority of them...

Not that it matters much of course... I'm optimistic and expect Red Dead to be *the* cowboy experience this gen!

You think it's a good idea to come out the month after everyone has spent their money on blockbusters? Doesn't sound smart to me. That, and I'm thinking quite a few are a little disappointed with R*'s latest endeavor so will be much more cautious about running out and getting this one.

We need a good old western one, it would really sell, and it would break it up with all familiar settings. future, middle east, etc etc.

Its a shame that Capcom not only abandoned RDR, but also sold the rights to Rockstar because their original vision of a arcade-style western shooter was much better.

If anything I really do hope Capcom revisit the western concept as their haven't a good western/arcade-style western since Sunset Riders and Wild Guns.

The first one was good, but it could have been better in my opinion. I really hope this one improves on it.
