Uncharted 2 Free DLC: "The Fort" Multiplayer Map

Well, you have an option: you can either battle the insane crowds on Friday or you can stay home and sample the free downloadable content for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Up to you.

According to the press release, Naughty Dog has revealed their Black Friday gift for PlayStation 3 owners: it's for the online multiplayer and it's a new level called "The Fort." It's based on the "Fortress" chapter in the original Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (boot it up if you don't remember); the announcement explains it as a "long rectangular map with wide open spaces and excellent flank routes." In other words, prepare to keep your head on a swivel at all times, lest you be surprised from bullets coming from behind. They're tossing in a shotgun and an RPG for good measure - find the latter in the crypt - so be prepared for an absolutely insane multiplayer match. Oh, and did we mention that this update is free? That's right; all you have to do is download this extra map and start playing; just remember that you can't go quitting online matches, or you will be fined $40,000. Naughty Dog isn't going back on that rule so once you're in, you're in.

But hey, if you've lost money, you'll have a chance to earn it all back during the Double Cash Weekend after Black Friday! Yeah, we're big fans of Naughty Dog. Heck, we're fans of any developer that tosses us freebies.

sweeeeeettttt!!!!!!

ugh i have been waiting for something new in this game. i am going out on friday to find myself a new chair to use while i game in front of the new samsung 32" i bought a few days ago. looking for a new surround sound system to upgrade to for my ps3 with the blueray but i dont see anything. hopfully i will spend the weekend using my new chair in front of my new tv playing on a new map for one of my favorite games ever!

yeah UC2 and MW2 are completely dif. why even say something like that? the MP isnt failing either any fan of the single player will have fun in the MP its great! just saying!

no its just the levels they put in there.
and not with assassins creed only, every single ubisoft montreal game has this problem.
play the last mission in AC2 youll see what i mean, its a fu***ng pain in the A$$.
you have to kill a zillion guards, in a very small area, and there is nowhere to hide.
and you cant let the guards see you, and to add to the icing, there are priests so when you kill a guard they run screaming alerting the guards.
and you cant use smoke bombs and you cant use poison and you cant use throwing knifes.

i don't really understand why there has to be bashing in the posts by some people, it really isn't necessary. Either they're purely ignorant and have nothing better to do and talk trash or they're plainly immature with nothing else better to do. Look, you can't compare these two games [Uncharted 2/Modern Warfare 2] hand in hand. What you can do is break down each game and evaluate the great and not so great aspects. We all know Modern Warfare 2 is in it's own league because of the major popularity Infinity Ward has had dishing out great games, and let's be frank, it helps that FPS is probably the most popular genre (i'm not sure, if anyone knows feel free to correct me]. Now it has lacked in story this time around, but all in all it's a great game for what it is. Uncharted 2 is truly a gem in it's own right, no one can look down on what Naughty Dog has done with this project. Clearly one of the most truly entertaining experiences in video game history. And frankly, for introducing online for the first time, they have done one hell of a job. Let's not forget (those who compare MW2 to Uncharted 2) that Naughty Dog and Infinity Ward have a great relationship and that Infinity Ward did give tips for online play, along as Bungie (where Halo 3 is just as good online, if not better in some respect then MW2) and the others who contributed to the great experience online that we have been given by Naughty Dog.

All in all, let's just forget about the bashing and focus on what's important here, the love and appreciation for games.

I think a lot of it has to do with the PS3 price dropping to $299.

Now a lot of immature 8 to 12 year old brats have gotten the PS3 and they're starting to infect the tranquility of all the PS3 sites just like they did over on MS's consoles.

Shame we can't have a virtual can of "Raid" & spray em all down. Plus a virtual "Roach Motel" so we could catch the rest of the "little vermin" trying to duck back into the woodwork too.

As for myself, I'd love to have a virtual pair of combat boots, so I can squash em flat once & for all, forever more.

saw the official game guide today at EB when i went to pick up my coppy of rouge warrior and i was soooooooooooooooooooo tempted to buy it.
BUT 50 BUCKS!
ARE YOU FU***NG KIDDING ME!
half the price of the game for a bloody book.
ill stick to the internet thank you.
though i really want the guide to see if they explain the ending, its kinda confusing.

yea ive found heaps of guides on the net but net guides are never as detailed as the ones you buy.
plus they normally have a explanation of each character and stuff in there.
i was hoping to buy it still may will see because theres some little extra info in there.
ebays not any cheaper either, 30 bucks plus 20 for postage.

Most have access to multiple stores; you have to be a naughty dog to do it, but at least you can get the map should you want it. I am still perplexed with the way Sony has to separate stores...

no you cant do that online DLC is region coded.
learned that out when i downloaded a few map packs off the AU store for rock band which i imported from the US.

MW2 online, lag, lag, fuckin LAG! And no it isnt my connection, 10 meg fibre optic is way good enough. For me its ruined it and that was 2 player coop. They need to check out the servers for Res 1 or 2, or M.a.g now they can run decent online games

I guess I should play for the double cash this weekend. You know, just in case my connection disconnects in the future and I have to dish out $40,000. It's good to have extra cash in case stupid occurences like that happen. Ridiculous.

MW2 is not that good. Its MW recycled. The graphics, sound and effects are terrible by today's standards and still the game drops to sub 20fps. The game is not good and everyone needs to raise their standards. These are facts. And Uncharted 2 is the best game developed since Super Metroid.

Been putting a LOT of HOURS into Modern Warfare 2.... where is this dip into 20 fps you mentioned? its ok to not like the game if you have played it and don't like it but back up such a statement with some kinda facts, cuz out of all my time with it, that sounds like bullsh*t to me.

No offense to you but you sound like one of those who hate the game but haven't even bothered to try it out yet.

Uncharted 2 is my fav game this year ( haven't tried AC2 yet ) so i dont think my standards are low. But fun is fun at the end of the day and its very possible to enjoy both games.
