King Of Fighters Movie Trailer: Surprise Or Destined Failure?

As a general rule of thumb, I try to watch just about anything featuring Maggie Q. You know, just because. But this one...I dunno.

So there's another movie based on a video game coming out, and perhaps unfortunately, this film is using the revered King of Fighters franchise as its main influence. You can view the full theatrical trailer below but before you do, we're warning you: this does look fairly decent on the surface, but just think about how many times you've been fooled before by slick-looking previews. Hasn't this happened to us in the past with the likes of oh, say..."Street Fighter?" Granted, we still have plenty of hope for future projects like "Prince of Persia" and that "Metal Gear Solid" movie, but when it comes to movies based on fighters, we're required to have our suspicions.

Well, what did you think? See, Maggie Q is in it. See? The hot one. That's always a bonus but Hollywood should've learned by now that gamers won't be swayed by chicks; they're going to need a decent film in order to drop the money on a ticket. Besides, fighting fans would usually rather play the games they enjoy so maybe this movie will just have to appeal to all the teenage boys out there. Well, we'll see how it does.

Well the fighting games never have a strong enough story plot to give the fighters any characters. If the movie have cheesy fighting, it's pretty much automatic fail.

I think this is a joke, it must be an on-going joke. They'll try to make the worse movie based on a fighter they can.

Wasn't that Dead or Alive movie released already? With Kevin Nash and other wrestlers lol?

Maggie Q is fine and all but I need accuracy over the producers "vision" any day. The characters story and even the combat doesn't fit the series at all and I get how changes need to be made for things like this to appeal to a wider audience but if you make a game for gamers about a game then make sure you appeal to the core audience.THE F*CKING GAMER!!!

On that note Ben go watch "Balls of fury" its the worst acting Maggie Q has done, although playing ping pong against four guys at once was still hilariously kick a*s ^_^

meh ive lost my interest in movies latley.
i use to really enjoy sitting down late at night and watching a movie, or going out to the cinemas.
but now i get bored really quickly.
like 2012 i know a bad example because it was not that good but still, i fell asleep half way through.
and before that like 1 hour through i kept looking at my phone checking how much longer it had to go.

Seriously, I couldn't agree more and what's with studios bringing the Universe into play when this is a fighting movie based on earth's "other" dimensions? "...threatens the Universe." Are they serious here? As if those words will really make people say; "OMG! Not the UNIVERSE! I have to find out how they don't let that happen."
Riiiiiiight.

Oh and the MGS: Philanthropy fan made movie is prettyBAD ASS so far.

The trailor looks sorta decent but then again most trailers show all the good parts of the movie anyway. It can't be any worse than the DOA and Street Fighter movies. The first Mortal Kombat movie is still the best fighting game movie in my opinion. But Gordan Chan did work on the movie Hard Boiled, and that was a great movie so we'll just have to see. But something tells me we'll all be disappointed.

As most/some have pointed out, the film doesn't look too promising.

Who is Maggie Q portraying? Yuri, Athena, Mai? The dude who appears to be Ryo is American while I believe he's always been Japanese. Is the villain Geese Howard? If so, then they're going more ala "Fatal Fury" route in which case where are the Bogarts and Higashi?

I think the main problem is that since KOF is known for the large number of characters/groups, you can't really concentrate on 1 group, each 'team' has their own reason for being in the tourney and so to go through all would be time consuming.

I think with the various good fighting films in recent years (Jet Li comes to mind), we know what to expect for fight sequences, so that means they need to have a good plot or else it's just another fight movie.

The trailer didn't seem to show much of that imo.

wow this movie looks so stupid... they should just cancel this movie... either that or change the director to michael bay or someone that knows how to make a real movie cuz i thought we were done with making dumb video games to movies whe they stop giving uwe boll liscenses for movies.... All Bay knows how to do is make lots of things explode. Not that explosions are bad, mind you, but even the best things need moderation. He wouldn't know a plot device if it jumped up and put him on a world saving quest. I recall a wonderful South Park episode that portrays him to a T.

Few opinion on this trailer:
1) What kind of narration is that?!?!?!?!? Really sounded like an amateur narrator.
2) Action looks dumb
3) Didn't even introduce some characters and I don't even know who is who and I won't bother looking it up.

The last fighting movie I enjoyed was the Matrix Trilogy.
