Heavy Rain Set To Launch In February?

It's not only one of the most promising titles of the generation thus far, it's also one of the most innovative, which is why everyone is so excited about Heavy Rain.

Lately, we've been seeing a lot more information and details concerning the ambitious project, and that includes numerous interviews with Quantic Dream bosses. The game has also managed to generate plenty of controversy due to the confirmed (and rumored) sexual content; nudity is most certainly involved, and there has been talk of various sex scenes. But the bottom line is that we may be looking at an evolutionary leap in the realm of virtual storytelling, and that's what has us so intrigued. All we need now is a release date...and it seems Famitsu may have stumbled upon a partial answer. According to Examiner.com, the Japanese publication lists Heavy Rain with a February 18 launch date. This would imply that it will release in North America and Europe right around the same time, if not even earlier (Quantic Dream is a European studio, after all), and the timing seems perfect. It may not have to butt heads with the blockbusters in March, you know?  Makes things easier.

And it may be purely coincidence, but Heavy Rain will be one of many hot games on tap for next week's Sony event in New York, which we will be attending. I've already staked my claim to hounding Quantic Dream that day, but perhaps the only piece of info that'll really matter is a release date, which might be revealed right then...

Throw Bioshock 2 in there as well, I just played the first one for the first time last night and I have to get it now. I think the second one releases in Feb 2010.

it's funny cuz I just woke up from a dream dat Heavy Rain came out in February, & yesterday I was wondering wat Sony was releasing in the time between MAG & the March of all Marches. I'd (& will) get this over Bioshock 2 anyday.

I know it was nothing definite, but Gamestop has had Heavy Rain listed for a February 16th ship date for some time now.

I am never going to be able to save any money. It just isn't possible with all of these must have titles that keep coming out.

Funny thing about all of this is these are all Sony titles that are coming out. I know most here will disagree with this but I am sitting here hoping for at least one single 360 game to come out some time in the eventual future. I am having one hell of a time justifying still hanging on to that thing. I think the only reason I do still have it is for Mass Effect 2 and Alan Wake. Oh well I guess I can always go back and play Lost Odyssey again.

Anyway, bring on the games Sony my wallet will hate me but with all the awesome I don't think I will mind too terribly much.

I'll wait a bit for this game. This is what I hate about this, all the good games pushed to early next year. Now next year is overcrowded. Many people are forgetting Killzone 2, because it was released early of 2009. There's MAG, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, FFXIII, GT5 etc. I am also waiting for some JRPG ports, such as Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean 4. It'll be expensive for PS3 gamers early next year.

GT5, FXIII, and God of War 3 are guranteed multimillion sellers.
GT5 - 10 million
FXIII - 5 million
God of War 3 - 2.5 million

I understand getting advertising dollars, but it just seems a 100% "totally wrong" message for this site.

You ought to pay a visit to some Linux sites, MS products are advertised everywhere. I even thought of creating a Linux centric news site just to earn some extra cash from Microsoft.

Umm, dude, I really want this game but whether I get it on release day or not is in question now because of the massive lineup. Sadly I might have to wait a bit. I think HR will be a title that doesn't make a massive debut, but instead hits with great review scores and then trickles in sales over time due to word of mouth. They should really make a tv commercial too.

Feburary, Lovely Stuff!

This is a definitive PS3 exclusive, i rarely buy games on the release now i'm at uni but i shall be getting this for sure, it has so much potential if farenheit is anything to go buy.

February 18 sounds good to me, too.

I'll buy it on Day One but I probably won't play it right away with Dante's Inferno, BioShock 2 and possibly White Knight Chronicles coming out before it.

My wallet is gonna be empty..next year is gonna be mad in terms of whats coming out Motion Con..God Of War 3...GT5...Heavy Rain...MAG...FF(Still on thafence..it wil be my 1st FF game)...MAG...ModNation...Killzone3 Resistance 3 theres alota talk about them to so you know...2010 is gonna be great for us gamers...Ps3 owners more ;)

Hopefully this game sells. I support it 100% because this is a good direction for games to go in. After seeing FPS after FPS you start to crave other genres. I love FPS's because they are fun especially online given you are playing with decent competition.

However...games like Heavy Rain are memorable because they offer a new experience, one that I'll gladly take up. FPS's are easy to be successful with, but experimental titles that are rare in genre like Heavy Rain are much more complicated and truly deserve to be called "works of art".

I commend Quantic Dream for straying away from the typical successful genre and instead doing something creative and unique. Quantic Dream, you have my respect, but more importantly, my purchase.

It's not like I'm saying this would be a bad game, but I can't see anything that impressed me.

Here's hoping there's gonna be a demo for this because I will have to play it to know whether it's good or bad.

but well, its the 2nd of December and i have heard nothing of that.
so im guessing it was canned.

if you get a chance ben, ask them if you will have a retry option in the game.
thats one thing ive been wondering and has not been answered.
i love the idea that your actions have consequences BUT i dont want to have to replay the whole game, exactly how i did before to find out what would happen if i did this, or that.
it will be out in February definitely, ill put money on that.
the question is when in February
