Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Surprises Japan

If anybody in Japan had managed to score a PS3 for Christmas, it would've been like hitting the Powerball lottery. However, that didn't stop Sony from providing owners with a little post-Christmas surprise.

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection has arrived on the Japanese PlayStation Store today, December 27. It's a 830MB download and available for the relatively decent price of 2,000 yen (about $17). It's a bit of a shock, considering we really weren't sure when it would appear, but most everyone believed "some time in 2007" was accurate.

This Tekken incarnation is essentially an updated version of Tekken 5, portrayed in full 1080p glory and featuring a new character and several new modes of play. You can play Arcade Battle, Ghost Battle, and Versus, and as one last added bonus, you'll get a Gallery Mode where you can use acquired Tekken Money to purchase classic Tekken movies, screenshots, and more goodies.

The U.S. will get this fancy download eventually, but as of now, it's a Japan exclusive. Maybe it'll go unannounced here as well, and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection will just drop out of the sky when we least expect it!
