Final Fantasy XIII Import Pre-Orders Tops This Generation

US gamers have less than three months to wait after Final Fantasy XIII launches in Japan on December 17. However, for the truly hardcore, that's just too long.

According to the Unofficial Final Fantasy Site citing Play-Asia, pre-order numbers for FFXIII are through the roof. They're "the best this generation thus far" and the hotly anticipated RPG "has far outdone any other big Japanese releases this year." It's not surprising to learn that Bayonetta is up there (it seems great), but it's also no big shock to hear that the biggest import of the generation thus far is arguably the biggest title Japan has produced in some time. Remember, the Japanese iteration of FFXIII is region-free, so this is likely to generate much bigger pre-order numbers; you don't have to worry about anything...provided you understand Japanese. So if you absolutely can't wait until March and you're willing to pay extra to snag what is destined to be another classic in the legendary franchise, feel free to pre-order the import now. It'll cost you $95 plus shipping and while that may seem a little steep to some, there's just no stopping the insatiable desire of the die-hard fan. And there ain't nothin' wrong with wanting to play the game as soon as humanly possible; I'd do it myself if I wasn't so swamped with games...and besides, at my age, time moves at a ridiculous speed. As far as I'm concerned, March is tomorrow.

But anyway, just thought you'd like to know, and hey, maybe you want to add to that ever-rising pre-order import statistic...

I dont understand why they wont have both Japanese and English voices on the disc. If they have it already, mind as well have it on the disc.

The Japanese version is not coming out for the XBox, which means if they were to add the voices, it'll be for PS3 gamers only. Theres plenty of room in that blu-ray.

MW2 is not a Japanese release. In fact, as pointed out in the article, there hasn't been many Japanese releases at all.

its not gonna beat MW2, as much as i would love it to.

but still, very impressive.

and yes the PS3 version will have both japanese and english tracks. but to be honest, im not even looking forward to FF13 that much

still more interested in versus 13.

sorry im only interested in games that push the PS3 to the limit.

and 13 won't, for obvious reasons

source? From my understanding Square said the PS3 version would only have English tracks(in the west)because they can't fit the jap tracks on the DVD and want to be "fair" to xbots.

Even at the Play Asia website, it says the imported version is in Japanese only. Either way I have my import pre-order ready to go.

How the heck are you more interested in XIII Versus? A game we literally know diddly squat about compared to XIII that is being released in two weeks that we know all about. Doesn't make sense to me. If Versus exists then I dare Squeenix to show us!

I can deal with the game not having English voices (in my opinion, the English voices feel fake to me). The question I'm begging to have answered is, "Will there be English subtitles available?" If yes, please add me to the import pre-order list.

Some Japanese games have had really good english voice overs, such as MGS series and the Persona series. In fact I remember reading somewhere that Kojima liked the english snake's voice better than the Japanese.

Whatever you may think of the story in FFXII (I like it BTW), the English VO work was excellent. I expect the same quality from FFXIII.

I'm glad we can play while hearing the Japanese voices, if for no other reason then at least because the Japanese version of the main theme is way better than Leona Lewis' song.

if i did not have bayonetta and the GOW collection i would of imported this.
but since i do, i have more than enough to keep me occupied.
im trying to get the plat in GOW ATM not looking forward to the challenge of the gods thats going to be a BITCH!

Well It Took me almost 2 months to preorder the PS3 Lightning Version... Well And to be honest still dont know if its true... The site(geo-online.co.jp) don't say anything about canceling the order after the payment is done. But I Still have to go to a "Combini" to do the payment.

I'm Going to Sell the game for sure, I dont know enough Japaneses to play it, well i cant read Kanji or understand long/fast conversations... so going to sell it unless it have English subtitles, I just really the wanted the console for sure :P.

I Probably going to try to sell it oversea, depends on DHL or Fedex prices.

i will import it if it has the english voice over and menu just like Bayonetta, but no information about that so far. will see, and anyway, march is coming and i am still not done with demon's souls, last couple weapon trophies to get before turning to platinum. ;)

I doubt i'll import it, when im going home this christmas im leaving my PS3 at uni so i wont be able to play it anyway until late January and by that time it will only be a month until its relased here :)

huh i had to last 3 when i sent my ps3 in the first time for sony to fix the bluray drive.
sony sucks bigtime when it comes to customer service.
actually thats a word thats not in their dictionary.
you ring them up with a problem with your controller not syncing and they pretend its not happening.
like HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO its happening to me NOW theres no point playing dumb.

Yeah I'm gonna wait too. I actually prefer Japanese voice overs because they use more emotion and bring more authenticity to the characters. I hope when it is released in North America they will give us that option...with English subs of course!

Considering that story plays a huge role in RPGs, I don't see the point in getting the Japanese version of the game - unless you speak Japanese of coarse.

White Knight is due February, so that should make the wait a bit easier.

Importing this for $95? Hahahaha! Oh the poor fans who are being ripped off. I feel for them. I can certainly wait another three months to get the game for $56 from Amazon and who knows, maybe they'll be offering their legendary $10 credit with it. That'll make the wait easier too.
