EA Officially Announces Dead Space 2
We all knew it was coming but it's always nice to have the official press release staring us in the face.
Today, Visceral Games and Electronic Arts have announced Dead Space 2, the highly anticipated sequel to one of the most impressive and accomplished survival/horror titles to date. Protagonist Isaac Clarke is back for another intense and terrifying adventure and this time, he'll have the benefit of "new tools to gruesomely slice and dismember the Necromorphs." Of course, his default Plasma Cutter will return, as will those innovative zero-gravity environments and those horrid and freakish creatures that really only die when their limbs are severed from their bodies. Oh, and it seems the team is interested in providing an even better story (which we always appreciate); here's what Dead Space 2 Executive Producer, Steve Papoutsis, had to say:
"We’re thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapter in Isaac’s journey. The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it. There are still loads of Necromorphs that need killing. In Dead Space 2, not everything is exactly as it seems. Expect plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you."
The press release further reminds us of the original's success; it received nearly 100 industry awards and holds an average critical review score of 89. It's certainly one of our favorite games of the generation thus far and we just can't wait to learn more about the sequel. In the meantime, feel free to peruse any info they have available over at the game's official website.

I did have my fun with RE5 it just didn't feel like a true Resident Evil and Dead Space did almost everything right that Capcom got wrong.

I'm looking forward to DS2, that game was what survival horror should be.

Dead Space was spectacular, but I'd almost rather them just leave it be.
Seriously, I can tell you what the next one's plot will be: Isaac Clarke somehow gets stuck on yet another abandoned spaceship and cuts the arms off of a bunch of necromorphs. Just like the first one, I guess.

spoilers
The ending left the fate of Isaac up in the air. Did he survive, or was he killed by his Necro-girl? I guess we would have known by the time the trailers came out anyway, but this is a very anti-climatic way to find out he survived. Maybe he's batshit insane now or something. Or maybe it's one of the plot twists they mentioned.

Knowing sequels, the creator always wants to add more in terms of weapons and advantages for the main character. I'm guessing somewhere in the story Isaac will get some kind of alien power without turning completely into a Necromorph. Maybe one of his arms might transform making his melee attacks more powerful or something along those lines. When you look at a lot of different sequels for games, the character always makes use of his enemies strength by obtaining that strength and using it as his own. I can almost guarantee it.

hopefully this one is actually scary though.
the first was far to predictable.
like you get into a elevator the camera turns to face the door and i say ooo here comes a necromorph to pry the doors open.
and what happens?
it was just far, far, far to predictable.
last game to actually scare me was doom 3, but if you really want a scary game go find the suffering.
thats not only scary as in shocks but scary as in its twisted and plays with your mind.
sort of like torture porn but actually scary.
the suffering is the only game i have been unable to finish because it scared me that much, i was to scared to go back and complete it.
BRILLIANT! thats what horror games are suppose to be like.

PS1 games are so hard to find now since EB and all game stores have stopped selling them.
thats why im always saying i wished sony payed more attention to the PS1 classics because its the only way i get to play some of my favorite games.
