Tecmo Takes PS3 Exclusivity Away From Quantum Theory
All this time, we have known Tecmo's ambitious action project, Quantum Theory, to be exclusive to the PlayStation 3. This is one of the reasons why it has been compared to the Xbox 360 exclusive, Gears of War.
Of course, the other reason for those comparisons is that Tecmo's game looks a lot like Epic's excellent franchise. But the exclusivity point is no longer relevant, as according to GamingUnion, Quantum Theory will also be available on the 360 in North America and Europe. To many, it appears as if Team Tachyon is making a GeoW clone; any media we've seen thus far certainly seems incriminating in regards to this particular accusation. But at the same time, everyone borrows from from everyone these days and you will recall that EA was actually flattered by the idea that Dante's Inferno was extremely similar to God of War. "Go with what works," they say. But obviously, for PS3 fans and Sony, the big news is that the game in question is no longer exclusive, so the project must be stacked atop the many other third-party titles that began their lives as one-platform-only games and ended up going multiplatform. As we've been saying, there's just very little chance that you'll see many third-party exclusive titles these days; publishers need the extra income potential due to the immense cost of producing a next-gen experience.
Quantum Theory is scheduled to hit store shelves some time next Spring and we'll be interested to learn more about this situation. Was the game initially a PS3 exclusive and then they decided to make a port for the 360? If this is the case, it's more than likely that it'll be best played on Sony's machine; just like Bayonetta is best played on the 360 because development began with Microsoft's hardware and Sega had to port the game to the PS3. Well, we'll have to wait and see.

still I don't care too much about shooters so in the end I wouldn't buy it but if the game ends outclasing GeoW and remains only for the PS3 would be great for the Ps3 sales.
so this really are bad news.

This is a bunch of BS. Tecmo originally chose the exclusivity because they said the platform is the most powerful. You guys remember that interview right? Now all of a sudden the power doesn't matter?
We all know by now that exclusive PS3 games is impossible on other platforms. The fact that it "CAN" be multiplatform, makes it that much less interesting.

though hes the head of the company, he will be budding in giving advice and such.
just like david jaffe, hes not working with sony SM but hes still seen quite a bit of the game and has given advice on where they should take the series.
he may not be directing it, but he will influence it quite a bit.
MGS is his baby, theres no way hes going to give it to his team and not look over it.
no one would turn there back on their creation.
well at least no one but naughty dog.
im still holding a grudge against them, the way they cast crash bandicoot away like a stone.
weve used you enough now, cya later.
i would give anything, i mean ANYTHING to see ND go back and create another crash bandicoot game.
crash bandicoot 1 is my favorite game of all time.
if i was only allowed to play one game for the rest of my life it would be that.

I don't mean it's not possible, give the developer 20 million bucks, and you get to do whatever you want with the game. It's just not realistic to do so i mean. Look at MS, hogging all the timed exclusives of JRPG, where the sales of those huge titles are just plain pathetic. There is no profit after spending 20 million dollars.
Sony doesn't keep the exclusive because they are trying to make profit like every normal business. They will NEVER claim the exclusivity, unless they see a profit from taking such action.
How can anyone of us here blame Tecmo, when no almost no one here (especially a PS3 site) is even supporting the game Quantum Theory. They can't see any potential large sales, and they have to go multi. It's just shocking to see.

But that aside I'm still excited for this game. It may "copy" many of the things gears does but what sets this game apart for me is that it, judging by the previews, will have some sort of combat. With the girl using her sword to kill those "locust".

not original and a total rip of gears (which is fine, but cmon do it better than gears if u have to)
Story sux so far, from what i can see from the trailers. (totally unappealing)
oh and 1 more thing, y is it these asian action games the art always looks the same. the spikey hair, some wierd ass chick running around with crazy retarded moves.
the architecture, weapons and armor, pretty much spikes everywhere and looks the same.
now to just keep an eye out for a gun blade... LOL J/K
but seriously, you know when u see a game in development and know ahead of time that its gonna fail? (Damnation, Hellgate London and Too human, we're looking at you) well this is one of those titles.
was never a purchase and never will be.

Had it stayed PS3 exclusive, might have been better, but who knows? It was meant to be Gears for the PS3.
The people have spoken. Quantum is the ginger kid of the Swedish blonde PS3 family.

Just because a game is multiplatform doesn't make it a failure. Examples-(AC2, MW2, DS, SF4, SWTFU). I can keep going but hopefully the blind fanboys in denial will understand that exclusives aren't the only good games out there. For those of you who are fanboys I suggest not picking up FF13 because it will be a stinking pile of multiplat sh**.
Otherwise, feel free to pick FF13 up because honestly, I think it will most likely be the best RPG...if not game of the year.

Substitutes never work out. Plus, Uncharted 2 is better than Gears according to Metacritic, and the duck and cover system is about the same.
MS can have its Gears, its Halo and its Fable (along with its crappy Eyetoy ripoff). PS3 has got GT5, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Infamous, Littlebig Planet, Motorstorm, Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2. It's even got its own awesome version of Mario Kart coming out (Modnation Racers anyone?) which I believe will be awesome if advertised.
With that in mind, Quantum is no big loss.
