Nier Details: Twisting Storylines, Bloody Combat, More
You may not know much about Square-Enix's upcoming action/RPG, Nier, but you're about to.
We've just received all the pertinent details on this game via helpful fact sheet, and we have to admit, this is just another RPG that all the fans will be forced to consider. The game is being developed by Cavia, Inc. and as you might expect - most action/RPGs do this - it "blends both innovative and traditional RPG gameplay mechanics with an intense, bloody combat system." We're also promised a "unique and twisting" plot because "nothing is as it seems" and the player is kept guessing, ala mystery style, until the very end. Nier is the name of the main character, and he sets out at the start to find a cure for his daughter, Yonah, who suffers from the deadly Black Scrawl disease. Nier is fully capable of using insanely powerful weapons and magical attacks but he will also have the help of several friends, which of course implies party play. We have a few new screenshots but they're gigantic and will have to be re-sized and...well, to be honest, they're not that impressive. Perhaps they're from an early build of the game, or maybe they're even going for a different graphical palette, but things appear a little blurry and washed-out.
But we have every confidence that Square-Enix will deliver a solid-looking title as they almost always do, and the concept behind Nier is well worth our attention. The game is scheduled to launch in Spring 2010 and we're expecting a May release (but that's just a guess). Stay tuned for more on Nier as it becomes available.

With Kingdom Hearts and FF being the only franchise I like from SE, I never really liked other games from them, there was once I was excited about Unlimited Saga only for me to throw the game away the moment I realized it's a piece of trash.

never saw a timer, you just remove all his health, than a R2 prompt comes up and you enter a QTE fest.
like GOWs o when your fighting bosses.
i was kinda disappointed, good demo but felt like it was lacking something.
maybe all the hype made me expect more, and after playing the GOW demo 50 times i guess that probably dident help.

i was not going to buy the game, looked boring to me.
played the demo and shat my pants.
it was soooooooooooo much fun, and for once a demo that lasts longer than 2 minutes.
if it were not for the demo, i would of not bought the game.
but yea, some demos are a bad indication of what a game will be like.
haze being a perfect example, though i do like the game the demo demonstrated it would be better than what it was.
