Yakuza 3 Features Nearly Five Hours Of Cut-Scenes

It's great to know that Sega will be distributing Yakuza 3 in North America, even if it does drop into the jam-packed month of March.

But what many of you don't realize about this series is that it's very story-driven; each installment features a robust storyline and plot, with interesting and relatively complex characters. Perhaps this is why there are five hours of total cut-scenes in the third entry (and the first for the PlayStation 3). This according to IncGamers citing the recent BBFC rating for the game. Not surprisingly, it received an "18" rating due to "strong violence" but the interesting note is that the adventure also contains "295 minutes and 18 seconds of linear elements" (i.e., cut-scenes). First of all, this certainly confirms Yakuza 3's entry into the European market and secondly, it proves that Sega pulled out all the stops in terms of story construction. Each tale featuring Kiryu Kazuma has been worth seeing; this guy is a total bad-ass and if the franchise was more popular here, he'd be in the running for any "biggest bad-ass" award with the likes of Dante and Kratos. The stories are also emotional and well-written, so I can't wait to see Yakuza 3...

This is one PS3 exclusive you shouldn't miss, especially if you've never played a Yakuza title before. They've never been fantastic, but I've heard nothing but awesome things about the first series entry on the PS3, and if we ever want to see Yakuza 4, we gamers had best respond...

We got White Knight and Heavy Rain releasing on the same day here in the UK/Europe on the 26th of February...

Then, as if that wasn't tough enough, we got Yakuza within weeks later.

3 of my top 5 most wanted games released so together....such a dilemma.

I haven't played the series. How does the Yakuza story compare with GTA?

nothing...

Yakuza can only be compared with Shenmue.

p.s Ben why you put the art of Yakuza Kenzan instead of Yakuza 3???

Sweet sweet Yakuza goodness. I am going to be getting this first day. I played the Japanese demo and loved it albeit couldn't understand it. So much better than GTAIV.

except...it isn't a Samurai game. I mean Yakuza Kenzan would be...but...Yakuza 3 is modern day.

Ben just put the wrong picture, but no worries really.

Is this a sanbox game? And is the story like GTA?
Cause I don't know if I'll buy it because I don't like GTAs

its very different you don't shot people you beat them with your fists, kicks and wrestling moves .

no the story isn't like GTA ones.. Kiryu is more of a hero than a random Scarface wannabe.

YES YES YES I LOVE THIS GAME! But wow 5 hours of cut-scenes huh? No wonder Hideo Kojima and Toshihiro Nagoshi were having such a fun time talking about video games. =P

im still on the fence with this.
since it got a 18 rating will probably get banned here, thats if they bother releasing it here.
i heard the audio would be in asian, is that true?
if so theres no way im buying it.
if its not than i may think about it, depending on how my wallets feeling at the time.
hopefully the law suit will be finished by then.

But each cutscene in Japanese is Freakin Awesome!
MGS4 is good in Japanese But sucked in English!I hope Yakuza 3 will tell every Japanese Game developer to not include english voices while making the US version.Just add subtitles!!!

I love Ben's honesty, & how he blantly states that Yakuza titles "have never been fantastic". Rather than saying "this game is great blah blah blah".
