PSXE Poll Update: Spike VGA Awards Did It Right
Wow, the Spike TV Video Game Awards have come a long way in seven years.
It's what may very well be called the Academy Awards of gaming (despite many who will claim the AIAS awards are more prestigious and meaningful) and this year, we have to admit that we agree with many of the nominations and victors. Heck, it almost seems as if they were chosen by - 'gasp' - gamers! We wanted to see what you thought and not surprisingly, the vast majority believe that at the very least, they got a lot right. After all, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves nailed down Game of the Year, as well as Best PS3 Game and Best Graphics. It lost out to Assassin's Creed II in the Best Action/Adventure category, but it nailed that victory the following week during the G4TV Best of 2009 awards. We have yet to give out our awards - we kinda wait until the end of the year, you know - but it goes without saying that Uncharted 2 will be in the running in multiple categories. There are other VGA 2009 nominations I'm sure some of you agree with, so let's hope we continue to see this kind of accuracy in the future.
For now, we want to know what you think is the most under-appreciated game of the year. Note I didn't say "underrated;" that means something else: if it's underrated, you think critics didn't give it a fair shake but if it's under-appreciated, it means the gaming public didn't respond well enough; i.e, sales, word-of-mouth, general perceived popularity, etc. Is it the niche Demon's Souls? Is it inFamous or Killzone 2, which seem to have declined quickly in popularity as 2009 advanced? is it a downloadable gem like Shatter? Let us know.

Killzone 2 sold 2.13 million, with a 91 Metacritic score.
Infamous sold 1.18 million, with a 85 Metacritic score.
Demon's Souls .48 million, with a 89 Metacritic score.
The underappreciated game is obviously Demon's Souls with no close second among those three.

On another note, I just finished AC2 tonight. I had no interest in the game but something made me pick it up and I loved it (still think Batman's better though). I may actually get platinum out a game for the first time. Just need 4 more. 2 (feathers and cape) will just require time to find which ones I'm missing (wow that will be tedious). Sweeper is a pain the patooty, I can't seem to pull it off but I think some diligence will get me there. Unfortunately, I missed Flyswatter and there's nothing else I can do other than play it again (at least up to that point), which might be more work than it's worth. Wish we could redo missions.

Infamous is not getting much love anywhere and that's probably because it came out earlier this year and remained in the shadows of the games that came out this Fall. -_-

its the only game ive played that met my expectations than exceeded them.
the climbing mechanic in the game is brilliant, it would of taken sucker punch a hell of allot of time to program every single building to be climbable.
that would of been really tedious and i really appreciate that they went through and did it.
what they say is true, its the little things that count.
thats the main disappointment about assassins creed 2, besides the combat, the buildings are awkward to climb.
im constantly climbing a tall tower, or really large building and have to go all the way around it to climb up.
like i start on the south side, climb up 2 steps, than move 2 steps to the left than climb 2 steps.
none of that stuffing around in infamous, just jump up and climb.
no screwing around, that really comes in handy when you have a million and one people trying to kill you.

other than that the show was ok. i did however hate the musical performances they had as well.
As for most underappreciated game i gotta say KZ2. So many people are stuck on MW2 that they look past all other shooters! thats great for MW and that franchise but its horrible for gaming in general because other great games like KZ2 are looked past! infamous was great but i dont think that game was underappreciated because it was an excellent game but for the type of game it is, there was a lot of stiff competition this year! I do believe however that a lot more people passed on it than really should have! Its a tough choice but i gotta say KZ2 was the most underappreciated game this year! it deserves far more than what it got, and Guerrilla Games in my opinion showed us what FPS can look like at the top of the game!

Awards are based off of commercialism. They don't mean nothin...and nor does a review...the latter literally being a kind of recommendation if its in the correct hands (otherwise its probably paid for by the man or full of propaganda)
The more arthouse lovers or, rather, ones with a brain just sit back and laugh at everything falling...whilst everyone else follows the in trend of being spoon fed warm diarrhea.
What it is.

The "arthouse lovers" are comprised of 98% posers with elitist syndromes who believe they can "see" things other people can't, and 2% actual art appreciators. THINKING you have a brain and actually HAVING one are two very different things, something this group has never been able to figure out...because they're not very bright.
And no major critic is getting paid by "the man" and not a one I've read is "full of propaganda." There are no conspiracy theories, here.
