MAG Golden, Beta Goes Public Soon
It's one of the most ambitious and innovative titles of the generation and pretty soon, you'll be signing up to hit the biggest online battlefield ever.
Announced over at the PlayStation Blog, MAG has gone gold in North America, Japan, Korea, and the rest of Asia, which means it will be on store shelves as scheduled on January 26 in North America, January 28 in Japan and January 29 in Korea. The European version should land gold status within the next few weeks. Furthermore, the ongoing beta test that has remained private thus far will be opened up to all on January 4; it's the "100% open PSN beta." This means you won't need any special voucher code and it'll be worldwide, so there will be no territorial restrictions...and you know what? You can download it tomorrow here in North America! As of December 22, gamers here can download the MAG beta client by following these simple steps:
1. Log on to the PlayStation Store (tomorrow) and download the MAG Beta file like you would any other freely-available PSN video or demo (298 MB)
2. Launch the MAG Beta program from your XMB to download a special patch that will restart MAG once the update has been received (another 38 MB)
3. After the reboot, the beta will reconnect and download the actual game data so that you can play (1.8 GB – 2.3 GB depending on your region)
This public beta will run through January 10 so the holidays will be a perfect time to kick back and test out this massive online shooter. Some of you have already been able sample the game; we handed out 100 codes a few months ago and other sites also did code giveaways. But if you haven't been lucky enough to get in just yet, your wait for trying MAG is almost over...

anyways, i dont know if this game is my cup of tea, there is too many people and not enough to keep everyone occupied from what i seen in the beta, so everyone just ends up in one area killing eachother! and i wish i didnt have to respawn all the way at the back of the map everytime. Other than that its got great potential and with all that said it doesnt mean i dont like it, in fact i had fun with it! I'll most likely be picking this up day one!

The biggest problem i seen was i thought the game was going to be so massive that there would be mutiple objectives being carried out at once. i.e. half your team must defuse a bomb while the other members blow up a truck to cause a distraction of sorts. this is not the case and everyone ends up in the same place and you can imagine how hectic that would be with 256 players on some maps. Really its fun though and if you have enough friends can be played in numerous ways. Its a great idea and is probably worth the pickup though!

To be honest if you have a good squad leader (with a mic) who set objectives you can really get a good game.
I've been in games where we are defending a bunker then the squad leader sends two or the squad mates with repair kits to repair the AAA, for instance.
This game and Battlefield Bad Company 2 will be competing for my play-time next year.
That Dust 514 sounds interesting too.

Now, I know that I'm not the sharpest tack in the bunch when it comes to being anything near tech savvy, but I always though "gold" meant that they were completely done with the game & were pressing it onto the final master disc just before re-sale.
And if so, then why is there still a beta getting ready to start when it's already golden in certain areas.
And why is it golden in some areas & not others??
Is it because of localization problems????
Just curious.....

its so bloody boring.
because the maps are so bloody large your constantly tracking from one side to the other.
hope you like spending 10 minutes walking from your base to the objective because your going to be doing that allot!
why cant we have spawn points?
i have lost count the amount of times i have started at my base, tracked all the way over to the enemies base to blow it up, get there, get killed because im the only one there.
than i have to trek back all the way again.
that brings me to my next complaint.
MAG is a heavily eam based game, if your team does not do what there suppose to your going to be 1 extremley annoyed 2 bored because you keep getting killed and 3 fu**ed because you cant take down 128 enemies by yourself.
MAG heavily relies on teamwork which i like because its a war game, and thats what war is about.
but there is absolutely no mechanics there to force people to do what there suppose to.
i was constantly on the mic telling my team mates to go capture the objective.
so what do they do?
wonder off and shoot enemies.
HELLO A$$HOLES KILLING ENEMIES IS NOT GOING TO HELP US WIN THE FREAKING MATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr playing MAG just makes me want to hop into the game and beat the living snot out of everyone!

BUT you die fast and it takes FOREVER to respawn. With that many peeps it is hard to stay alive sometimes, lol.
Oh yeah, this game is designed for LARGE SCALE COMBAT. What do you think is going to happen when you cant get enough to play? Pure BOrdem. IT happened in beta.
This is what killed Dark Age of Camelot. It was designed for large scale war and when the game got a few years older and peeps started leaving, the battles started sucking.
MW2 and BF for me.
End of Line.

HUH!
play the 256 matches and you certainly will not get bored, it gets quite chaotic at times.
MAG is absolutely MASSIVE and i am never more than 2 steps away from a enemy.
some of the smaller games can get boring, like the ones where you have to capture 2 vehicles can be a little dull but 99% of the time its extremley frantic.

MAG
