SCEA Brings Legendary Sports Games To The PSN
Okay sports fans, SCEA is giving you a holiday gift you shouldn't pass up.
It has been revealed that many of the classic, most beloved sports matches in history are now available for download on the PlayStation Network. New content courtesy of the NBA and the NHL joins already existing content from the MLB, UFC, and TNA (Total Nonstop Action) Wrestling, and you can snag it all for viewing on either the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable. They plan to add "select games" from the NBA season including the playoffs and you'll be able to watch them "shortly after" the games are completed. For hockey fans, they've added 20 historic NHL games, including the legendary World Cup battle between the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadians in 1977. And speaking of that memorable year in sports, the PSN also currently boasts the unbelievable Game Six from the 1977 World Series, when Reggie "Mr. October" Jackson smacked three homers...each on the first pitch from three different pitchers. It don't get much better for Yankee fans! And what do we have for UFC followers? 60 total UFC fights, including the Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir heavyweight championship title fight from UFC 100, and the entire season of The Ultimate Fighter 10.
Those who are looking for wrestling will find replays of TNA matches from both 2008 and 2009, which originally aired on pay-per-view. Lastly, football fans will find games from the Fox Bowl Championship Series, including the 2009 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl when the Ohio St. Buckeyes met the Texas Longhorns. And of course, with Bowl season here, they'll add more games from January 2010. All of this content can be had for between $1.99 and $2.99 each and with this big addition, the total PSN numbers continue to rise: over 18,000 movies and TV episodes already available! If you can't find anything you're interested in, we suggest finding an interest.
