Holiday Loot: What Didja Get?

I'm not entirely sure how this tradition got started, but everyone online always wants to relate their loot lists from the holidays. So, here's your chance to indulge and make everyone jealous.

I got a bunch of stuff, including two awesome t-shirts: one features an interlocking pie-chart with MySpace, Facebook and Twitter on it, linking them all to aspects of ADHD, Narcissism and Stalking. It's exactly how I feel about such ridiculous things and I'm wearing it now. The other one is just a plain white t-shirt with simple black lettering that reads, "Some people have a way with words. Other people not have way." A clever little barb at the shocking and depressing lack of literary capability in today's technology-oriented society (after finishing "Age of Innocence," I once again feel as if I was born about 135 years too late). But of course, I got regular stuff, too; gift cards, some cash, candy, etc. My mother always updates my reading list for the following year by getting me a bunch of new classics to read and I'm starting to value that over anything else. But here's a quick list of the STUFF:

Books

  • F. Scott Fitzgerald, "Tender is the Night"
  • Virginia Woolf, "To The Lighthouse"
  • Flannery O'Connner, "The Complete Stories"
  • Alexandre Dumas, "The Three Musketeers"
  • Gabriel Garcia Marquez, "The General In His Labyrinth"
  • Leo Tolstoy, "War and Peace"
  • The Complete Plays of Anton Chekhov

CDs

  • Trans-Siberian Orchestra, "Night Castle"
  • Breaking Benjamin, "Phobia"
  • I Am Ghost, "Lovers' Requiem"

Movies

  • Heat (Blu-Ray)
  • Crimson Tide (Blu-Ray)
  • Big (DVD)
  • The Shining (DVD)

Games

  • Left 4 Dead 2
  • Resident Evil 5
  • Halo 3: ODST

I also have $70 in cash to get another game with, and it's likely to be either The God of War Collection or Bayonetta. I also got a new printer/fax machine to replace my old, mostly broken one, and a cool piece of furniture: a cabinet that will hold 300 DVDs (or 600 CDs); something that I desperately need as I ran out of room for DVDs/games like six months ago. Oh, and the last thing: a new fleece-lined winter coat; mine is very old and the only other thing I have is my 350Z jacket...which is really nice (and warm), but it really is silly to wear it during the winter, and oh yeah, I don't have the car anymore. LOL Okay, I done. How's about you guys?

P.S. If you think I won't read "War and Peace" (which comes in a set of three full books), you obviously don't know me very well. ;)

Not one bloody thing of note, except a winter cap with the Original Six on it (first 6 NHL teams). But I did get $150 in cash which I will promptly spend on Bayonetta and Dante's Inferno.

Oops, I forgot, my brother got me a pair of PlayStation 3 boxer shorts that even came in a tin shaped like a Dual Shock 3 controller.

A case for 300 DVDs? Perish the thought! Now 300 Blu-rays? That's more like it.

You can find those boxers, and tins, over at Target. They seem to have an endless supply because I've seen the Xbox 360 ones go for 99 cents.

This year we were tight on money so I didn't get as many electronics as past years.

I got:
Terminator Salvation(blu-ray)
Transformers 2(blu-ray)
God of War Collection
1 $50 PSN cards
And ALOT of clothes
And the 48 inch Sony Bravia which we didn't wrap.

Hopefully by the end of next year the economy gets better, the family restaurant is doing ok but from what parents tell me it may not be if customers don't start flocking back.

Thanks WWW,
With my 10% off card, I only wound up paying $23(after tax) for all 3 games(and it was better than me getting 3 packs of smokes which would've only lasted till sunrise) LOL

I was kind of pissed off though...because I had planned on spending my whole paycheck & flying the coop with a new nest egg of around 30/40 games.

But it seems that a flock of gaming vultures had already swooped in before me & pecked all the grade-A prime right off the carcasses ...I mean the store racks. So there wasn't very much edible game-kill left at my price-point that would still catch this ole eagle's eye.

Oh well, at least they left a few scraps of gristle I could still gnaw on, and I won't go to bed completely hungry.

But not one to see the glass half empty, at least now I can afford all the top notch games out at the start of the year and still have some money to send my butt off to Thailand for a few months. Happy Christmas!!! Oh but as for what I actually got for Christmas...a donation in my name was made to the local childrens hospital as I requested so I'm feeling pretty good about that!

I'm 28 now and so I don't expect anything anymore. BUT, my 2 nieces had a great xmas and I made sure to buy a couple gifts for them. My favorite--A "Doomsday Device" (For My PS3!) [MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!] (http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/accessories/9116/)
500 Moolah
Borderlands
Assassin's Creed 2
Brutal Legend (accidental reveal*)
PJ's (an almost-tradition for my Mom)
A t-shirt with a shotgun on the front with "Zombie Repellent" underneath
Green Super Laser Pointer (You can see dust float through the beam; my dog and I are having loads of fun with it ;) )
Oreos (inside joke)

I'm waiting for some family to get back to town, so I still have a couple things left to unwrap.

*Someone told my Mom they were getting me "Brutal Legend," she asked me if I knew what 'BL' was. ;) Speaking of "accidental" reveals... One time when I was a youngin' I went to my Mom and told her I'm not telling her who got her the toolbox. [lol]

My family has stopped buying me media of any kind since they can never keep up with what I already have.

From which I got a t-shirt, jacket, and joker hoodie from Marc Ecko, an auction I won from Strangercrombie (Seattle auctions for charity) of which I got a $50 gift certificate to a coffee shop, free dinner for 4 at this burger joint, and a $150 gift certificate at a sex shop. The rest of the money I'm using towards the special daily offers at Steam.

Primarily for collection reasoning...

Castlevania: Curse of Darkness
Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions
Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite

Additional Stuffs:

Socks

Stuff that I didn't get yet (a couple of books)

The Monster Book of Manga (when you go to school for Game Art & Design, you need a reason to draw for fun/practice... even if it is for a series of projects you had planned)

Thirst vol. 1 (I have always said that my favorite vampire novels aside from Anne Rice's were the Last Vampire series. Christopher Pike's vampire series of six books is being reprinted/released into two larger paperbacks, the first of which is already out and the second which isn't... I intend to get the first soon.

My Christmas was decent, even though my family started to hassle me from that point on. Despite this and the ominous forboding sense I get knowing that my Grandmother wants me to visit my father and other grandmother (who I would prefer not to see, but I don't have a choice). We were supposed to go around Christmas but there was some delay.

Good thing I have more PSP games...

I got Grid; been playing it for a few days now and it's pretty fun. Took me a few days to get used to it, but now I think I'm about ready to change from "basic" difficulty to "normal". Last night I turned off the traction control which seems to have made every race into a drift race where you barely even need to use the brakes any more. I think I'll turn that back on - it was getting too easy even for an arcade game.

Also got Gran Turismo 3 and Ford Racing 3 for the PS2. GT4 is my favorite game of all time, so I figured I couldn't go wrong getting part 3. I haven't started on either of those yet.

Got some other stuff - a couple golf gloves, a box of chocolates, some DVD+RW's, and the movie Halfway House.

I got no games or dvd's. I buy my own so no one really knows what to get me incase I already have it.

I got a die cast collectable Cyberman off Dr Who.
£20 which shall go towards a game, maybe Bayonetta.

2 official Dr who annuals 2010 (one off my sister one off my mum lol)

2 of the same Dr Who books (one off my cousin, one off my mum) I think a lack of communication runs in our family at times lol.

3 shirts, 2 trackie bottoms, 2 hooded tops, 3 t-shirts (2 plain one a nike) and some sweets.

Socks but surprisingly no underwear or slippers.

3 boxes of deoderant and shower gel (2 Lynx Instinct and one Adddas).

The Viz, The Beano, The Dandy plus 2 others I cant remember the names of.

I still have to get the Dr Who Specials on dvd when they are released on January 11th and my Liverpool away top in black and gold.

Not much really, a nice EagleTec nano 8gb thumb drive, 2.5" external hdd case, $100au, enough sugary treats to keep me awake 'till 2010 and a nice shirt with the evolution of man picture of a man slumped over a computer at the end and the caption "Somewhere, somehow, something has gone horribly horribly wrong". Still this thumb drive is pretty specy, it currently holds the record for smallest thumb drive.

I decided that only buying 3 games for myself just didn't feel like it was enough so I hit up a different Gamestop tonight for their buy 2, get 1 free deal.

I got 3 older PS2 games, & after my 10% off using my Edge card they only cost me $15.39

Demon Stone: Forgotten Realms
Drakengard
Dragon Rage (this one was the free one)

(Anyway, I'm not sure if I'll enjoy their gameplay, but the cover art & stories on the back of the boxes looked interesting enough to chance it. Dragon Fire seems the most interesting out of the three but if not, at least they've still made for some nice add-on's towards expanding my PS2 collection).

only gonna list game related gifts

Nintendo DSi

Modernwarfare 2 (PS3)

both with gift receipts -- I don't care much for handheld gaming and I still have an unopened Modernwafare 2 for 360 that I bought last month--I blame DragonAge and Uncharted 2 for still not playing Modernwarfare2.

Question is which version of Modernwarfare 2 do I keep...PS3 or 360? As a reference...I had the original CoD Modernwarfare for 360 and CoD World at War for Ps3 -- go figure.

I got so much good stuff, I didn't have to buy anything for myself on Boxing Day. :D

Games:
Killzone 2
inFAMOUS
Dead Space
LEGO Indiana Jones (good for family playtime)
Madden 09
Prince Of Persia

BDs:
Watchmen
Harry Potter 6

DVDs:
Deadwood (complete series)
Dead Like Me (complete series)

CDs:
Elvis Costello: The First 10 Years
Foo Fighters GH

Plus, a 1 TB external HDD (it looks cool, like something they'd use on Alias)...and some shirts.

All of this on top of the boatload of things I got for my birthday 2 months ago (incl. Uncharted 2 and Fallout 3 GOTY).

I am blessed.

Happy holidays to everyone!

p.s. I am thinking about buying the new core version of the Ion drum kit, but it's still awfully expensive for a peripheral.

p.p.s. Sony also gave me a present: my now-repaired PS3.

Will Advanced Warfare rejuvenate Call of Duty?
Yes, this is just want CoD needed.
I hope so; it looks promising.
I doubt it, but I'm not sure...
No chance; CoD is going down.
