New Call Of Duty In Vietnam, Heavier Emphasis On Story?
Even FPS developers are looking to implement deeper and more professionally produced storylines into their games.
We know the Call of Duty responsibility has switched back to Treyarch and we also know they're abandoning the traditional World War II setting. The fans have asked for something new and Infinity Ward certainly cashed in with their Modern Warfare concept. We're not sure where the next CoD will take place but the hot rumor is that it will involve Vietnam, and according to "reliable sources" found by PlanetXbox360, the new entry "will focus heavily on the story, specifically the struggles of each individual person in your squadron." One source says to expect a pacing and style found in certain Vietnam movies like "Platoon" and "Apocalypse Now," which is probably a good idea given the current direction of the industry. And besides, because most everyone knows these games are all about the multiplayer, it's good to see the developer still intends to provide us with a worthy single-player experience.
We're sure to see more info on the new Call of Duty - scheduled to arrive late next year; it's like an annual schedule now - within the next few months. But I like the idea of a heavy story...provided they don't take the standard film route and choose to lecture. Let's keep that annoying trait in Hollywood, shall we?

I kid, I kid, but I hope they make this good. There really hasn't been emphasis on Indochina.

The best things I can envision are awesome jungle fights, great music from the early 70's, tons of hewies, and an epic level with your squad vs a sniper a la Full Metal Jacket.
That does sound kinda cool.

A longer SP campaign would be great. The story could be epic, especially if they use licensed music from that era to complement it.
The MP should be fantastic as well. I love the smell of noobs in the morning!

The fact that they are putting an emphasis on the story this time around makes me uber-excited for this one. Throw in Vietnam and it is a day one buy for me most def.

What I really like in the singleplayer Airborne is the multiplayer Modern Warfare gun customization and level up feature. Something I hope the next Medal of Honor follows.

i really enjoyed all the commands you could give your team, and the real scale of the game.
the levels were fu**ing MASSIVE!
only 2 things i hated about the game was.
1 its so freaking hard, you cant really do CQC unless you want to die so you have to take your enemies out at a distance.
but 99.99999999% of the time you have a heavy machiene gun.
its like trying to snipe with a freaking shotgun, not gonna work!
2 again its so freaking hard.
i know its suppose to be a realistic simulator, but for christs sake.
on the easiest difficulty you lie down flat in the grass, with a sniper trying to pick your enemies off but 1 shot and thats it your dead.
and the friendly AI is as dumb as batshit!
make this like DR, but without the insane difficulty and make sure both friendly and enemy AI is smart.
place those pieces together and you will have a really cool game.
O and while there at it, i hope they do another James bond game.
quantum of solace was actually not a bad game, to much emphasis on shoot everything and not enough on the spy stealth side but besides that a good game.
