Naughty Dog: Co-Op Expansion For Uncharted 2 Possible

Obviously, competitive multiplayer is where it's at for most people, but we still need the more civilized co-op modes, too.

Although the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves online multiplayer isn't quite as popular as other gigantic titles, many have seemed to gravitate towards the co-op because it's just so damn fun. And if you've enjoyed such entertainment in the past, you'll be happy to know that Naughty Dog may expand on the co-op content with future DLC. This according to boss man Evan Wells in a recent G4 interview, where the hinting is obvious:

"So for future DLC, could we add more co-op? Probably more in the arena-style type of gameplay, like our Survival and our Gold Rush modes. The objective-style co-op that we have where we have those little narrative moments...it's something that we are considering and we'd really like to do, but it's a much, much bigger investment of time because we have to do a lot of motion capture with the actors and record a lot of voices. So we would absolutely want make sure that we talk to our community and make sure there was the proper demand for it."

Woah...what are we looking at here? More dialogue and story pieces in the co-op portions? Wouldn't that add a great deal of flavor and appeal to a game that thrives on the single-player experience to begin with? It would further entice those who have been reluctant to go online in the past, primarily because this could really feel a lot like the regular offline adventure...only with a few friends along for the ride. Oh, there's always so much goodness associated with this game.

yeah, I don't have friends that have Uncharted, so I'd like to play with them an offline co-op campaign. And with the quality that Naughty Dog brings us, we would be having a blast playing with our friends AND a good story.

I'd pay whatever they price it for an offline co-op

Was it just me or was the co-op included in U2 extremely short? I think I completed the whole run through in like 20 minutes or something.

It showed a lot of promise, but any co-op DLC better be much longer.

Sure thing, I enjoyed it in the beta, just saying I don't feel the need. If it wasn't there I still would have felt my dollars were spent well :)

Yeah I'd definitely be down for some more co-op. Though I can see how it can suck when you get a some morons who refuse to move onto the next level while you are playing.

Heck yea theres a demand for Co-op objective. It's sad that theres only 3 maps to play seeing as i'm big on co-op. Nothing like getting a few friends together for a co-op game

ahhhhhhh can we make up our mind please?
i remember just after uncharted 2 came out there were a few interviewers asking if uncharted 2 could get some more co-op modes as DLC.
and evan said, yes it could, but it wont because it costs so much resources, DLC will mainly be restricted to new maps and maybe another mode or 2 for competitive.
so let me get this straight.
the answer is yes, but its no?

IF they do add some new co-op arena matches they first need to fix the ones they have there.
i remember playing the one with the tank, just before that you have to eliminate all the enemies than all 3 players need to go to the door and open it.
all of us were standing there for 10 minutes to open it, and nothing happened.
we all ran around, collected some ammo than went back and finally the door opened after 15 minutes of screwing around.

I never played online before because single player is my thing. Now I'm level 42 in Uncharted. Give us more co-op, please. Survival with friends is our favourite.

I like this idea. I'm already on my 3rd run-through of the single player and I still want more. This game is just too good.

How about a downloadable mini-sequel to the second game that could bridge "Uncharted 2" and the inevitable third game? You know, like what Insomniac did with "Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty". That'd be sweet. The digital comic prequel to the first Uncharted was sweet and all, but I would've prefered it as playable episode.

Just focus on the arena. More maps would be nice. Add more weapons too. I can get noobed weaponed to death withGrenades launchers in Deathmatch but the weapon is nowhere to be found in co-op arena? Come On! Add the Wes-44, Desert and M32 Hammer to Co-op Arena! Also some of us have mastered that so you might want to add 5 more rounds to it or have a mode where they just keep coming until we all die 3 times each. Or maybe with added rounds lower the amount of damage you can take and how much damage your weapons do all while raising the amount of cash you get with a 150K cap instead of 50K.

This will be great I just finish Uncharted 2 and its amazing .I'm now getting into the online multiplayer so any extra DLC will be a good thing.

P.S. All you guys here at PSXE have a wonderful new year.Definitely will be going to bed till sunrise lol

I just want a singleplayer expansion. I do not care for the multiplayer end of this game. Yes, it's well executed, but it's the singleplayer experience that makes Uncharted 2 so amazing!

I'd rather have Uncharted 3 than a single player add-on! If im going to play uncharted its about the experience and i think ass-on would be less eventful than having a full length game/story! So i say stick to the MP for DLC, on this one!

I barely ever go online but U2 gives a nice option when I have just beaten the game again,crushing this time, and as much as I could go right back into it to finish the trophies, it feels weird going into my 4rth playthrough already.
(Thats why Killzone 2 and dragon age are now on the way to make up for my boring xmas).
Co-op will always be my preference, it's what separates us from the MW2 addicts, so LISTEN UP NAUGHTY DOG, Go for it! Normally I'd say splitscreen all the way cuz it's ridiculous how little offline multiplayer there is these days but with U2 I could see that being a real technical challenge.
I'd love if U3 had a co-op campaign alongside or entwined, either way it couldn't be as bad as RE5 since uncharted actually has decent controls.
