Rumor: Dissidia Headed To PS3, 360

It was one of last year's most popular titles on the PSP but it probably didn't hit your radar screen if you don't own Sony's portable.

Well, the latest rumor may allow you to play Dissidia: Final Fantasy on either the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. Thanks to a fan tip sent to TheBitBag, it seems a Japanese publication has listed Square-Enix's fast-paced action title for both the PS3 and 360, although we're not even sure of the publication's name right now. It could be Famitsu, but that's just a guess. Now, there is the distinct possibility that we're talking about the game going downloadable on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace, which would make far more sense than a physical Blu-Ray release. Then again, the magazine could've made a mistake and simply meant it would be available on the PSN for download and play on the PSP. With a rumor like this, there are any number of possible outcomes, especially when the source in question is of mysterious origin. Personally, I think it's a damn good idea to make Dissidia available on the next-gen consoles, simply because it's popular enough to make a significant splash. Then again, maybe the game wouldn't make a smooth transition...

Anyway, we'll keep an eye out and see if this theory gets confirmed or denied. We're hoping this isn't the "secret" game Square-Enix is planning to announce; that would make little to no sense.

why to 360? squarenix still thinks they can sell good on that thing? just make it for Ps3.

Meh, easy to port it and they will make a profit, I don't have a problem with it. I have a problem when a 360 game is ported to a Sony machine.

It is a good game, Scarecrow. However, I get where you're coming from.

Personally, I don't want them to port the same PSP game over to a real console. I'd like a sequel built from the ground up for the PS3. Get a HUGE cast and upgraded battle mechanics.

Of course, my real life-long dream of a Final Fantasy fighter with a more traditional 2d style engine will never happen. *sigh*

I don't have any environment in which I would require a poopstation portable so I don't own one. When I'm not at home I'm busy with something else, and when I game here it's on the big screen.

Ah, gotcha. I have to admit I mainly play my PSP at home. I play all my PS1 games on it, it makes a playthrough seem like new. Also remote play is amazing.

When I bought my PSP1000 it cost me $220. I recently got a 3000 for Christmas. You can get PSP3000s for as low as $140 now...I really love my PSP, when I go home to visit family I'm able to watch all my movies and listen to all my music.

Weird for Dissidia to jump on any other platform but the Playstation. It'd make sense if it was digital download for PSP users, but for Xbox 360? I don't think so. Hm weird indeed.

Um, except that it's already been available as a downloadable PSP game on the Store for some time now =p Been playing it on my Go lately and it's great!

I don't see a point in porting Dissidia to the consoles.

But making Dissidia 2 for consoles on the other hand makes perfect sense.

creating dissidia on consoles would make no seance without porting the original.
just like porting mass effect 2 over to the ps3 without bringing over ME.
how are we suppose to understand the storyline if we have not played the original?
and developers cant just expect you to go over to the psp just to play it so you can play the sequel on the ps3.

Its done all the time. The story in Dissidia is the weakest point of the game. I would rather the put the next installment on consoles for better control schemes, graphics and more characters rather then them wasting time and money porting the original.

that really pissed me off.
why should i shell out 300 bucks for a PSP and 60 bucks for the game just so i can continue following the story of the game?
whatever platform a series starts on it should stay on that platform, that way people who started the series can finish them without having to buy a new system.

no i think we have more than enough RPGs to choose from for the ps3.
plus it would be nice to have a game exclusive to the PSP.
the ps3 has them, the 360 has them, the wii has them, the DS has them, hell even the PC has them.
so why cant the PSP?

the ps3 has heaps of new IPs exclusive to it.
uncharted, heavenly sword, LAIR, resistance fall of man, HAZE, infamous and ninja gaiden sigma to name a few.
well sigma is a remake, but its a game that has never appeared on a playstation before.

Umm ...PSP has an insane amount of exclusives if you're talking about from any developer. I figured you were talking about Square-Enix, you know ... because you were talking about how the PSP has none? PS3 is the system that has virtually none so far (that I can't think of, it's certainly possible I'm mistaken) hopefully some coming up in the future like XIV and Versus, which I already stated.

exclusive IPs is what the PSP does not have.
the only ones i can think off are, well thats it i cant think of any. all the "PSP exclusives" are either sequels to PS3 or earlier games like assassins creed bloodlines, or are ports of PS3 games like little big planet PSP or god of war CoO.

It's already on the PSN store. Over a gig, i believe 1.4 if i remember right.

It would have to be a rehash, or be ported to both systems for play. Eh, wasn't all that great anyway.
