MAG Factions, Character Classes Info
Sometimes, when you're on the fence about purchasing a game, you only need to examine the characters/classes that will be available.
Perhaps you've been thinking about downloading that big ol' MAG beta test but you're not entirely sold on the idea. Well, before you make any rash decisions, check out the Factions and Classes; the descriptions alone are pretty damn cool. You probably already know about the three Factions: S.V.E.R. ("The fire within fuels the true warrior"), Raven ("Precision in training and battle, above all else"), and Valor ("Improvise, adapt, overcome"). But once you've decided upon a Faction, you must then decide on a Class and you're free to experiment, of course: you've got the Snipers, which is pretty self-explanatory, Demolitions experts (BOOM!), Medics, Machine Gunners, and the ever-courageous Paratroopers. Although we haven't had sufficient time with the beta over the past few months, we've heard some solid feedback along with the minor complaint that it's "not as big as expected." Well, bear in mind that we're still only playing a beta and we're willing to bet that more upgrades and enhancements will continue to come down the pike even after the full game is launched.
That's the nature of MMOs, really. The online environment needs constant attention and updating if it's to remain both playable and ceaselessly intriguing, so don't think MAG is anywhere close to being "finished."

you gotta be kidding me!
the maps are freaking MASSIVE!, the maps size is the only thing that did not disappoint me with the beta.
o that and the servers were rock solid, there was hit detection issues and LAG, but for once i can hope on the PSN and play a MP game for 4 hours straight with no problems.
its a miracle!
:'( never thought id see the day.

though i really wished zipper would go back to socom.
just give us another socom game and make sure its got a good long storyline and single player mode and ill be happy.
socom and BLACK were the best shooters on PS2.
or even make a cop tactical shooter like SWAT 4.
loved that game, it was so engaging and really made you think before storming in and shooting the place up.
yea thats what i want zippper to do, create their own version of SWAT.

As long as you have a smart OIC that is battlefield aware, and leaders and squad members who listen, there shouldn't be a problem with winning a battle. I've played with the bad and the good. But I think once the actual game comes out, there will be more people who are aware of how the game is supposed to play. As of this week. Everyone who felt like downloading the beta was playing; including people like you who I am glad won't be getting the game.
I bet you were one of those people that just felt like you needed to run up to the enemy all by yourself, huh?
Anyways. BTW, Raven is NOT full of campers! Just think about it: Raven is an elite military company that specializes in advanced weaponry and discipline. If you look at us, you see semblance with modern day SWAT teams. That's how we work. We move methodically and waste no movement. We have dedicated members who pride in their ability to use a sniper rifle to take down unsuspecting victims.
So, don't hate on us!
Rant over.

But I must point out one thing. COD is not a twitch game, Halo, Unreal Tournament, those are twitch games. Those are the games where killing is everything. COD isnt, and if thats all you do thats just how you play. To me team deathmatch is boring and and i rarely play it anymore because im strategic.
I also must say twitch games arent bad but when you categorize them COD doesnt fit, neither does MAG by a long shot.

As for modern warfare 2, I can say i'm pretty good with that game but i'm starting to get bored of it. I spent a lot of time online with COD4 but i cant even spend a long time playing MW2 online anymore. I just end up running around with just a tactical knife killing everyone, just to spice it up i guess, and still end up with a high positive K/D ratio. In my opinion, MW2 is highly overrated and people are just getting tired of it and stating to move on to the next great thing.
I do remember one thing that pissed me off in MW2, although i already solved it by setting up a class specifically for it. Demolition on afghan was a pain. The bomb point on b, The one with the artillery gun, was a pain to get especially when the team defending starts camping it. the other team cant even get close to it. Not much of a problem for me now but the usual winners would be the team who gets to defend 2 times. If you're playing with a bunch of idiots, might at well give up. Ohh, and dont even get me started on spawns. I hate killing someone then someone else, or even the same person W/o tactical insertions, spawns right behind me.
Anyway, for me, Modern warfare 2 just become dull. You like it and thats good for you but im ready to move on and i'm sure others think so too. I just try not to stick to one game too long because if i do, i'll just miss a lot of the great games this generation.

Being a fan of military FPS, I really had high hopes for this game, but needless to say it dropped off my pre-order list long ago and was bumped to my rental que.
After playing many hours on the BETA, I found myself consistantly frustrated by the Team Killing, lack of hit detection (you might as well be firing jelly beans) for the amount of damage you can cause, and the complete lack of team work with the higher ranks. Nothing beats being a SL, only to have a mic-less PL, and 3/4 of your squad also without mic's.
I'll give the game the benefit of the doubt by renting it...but pre-ordering is definately a risky deal based on what I've seen/experienced.

When i first heard of this game i got very excited! Everytime it was talked about they talked about how much would be going on, in the battlefield. How many side missions would need to be carried out to make the objective easier. The problem is that never happens. There is a lot going on but thats because you get everyone in one area and they start playing deathmatch in a demolition type game.
The concept is great but the gamers wont use that concept because its a shoot first type game, most FPS, are. Unless there is no respwning objectives are hard to make the main focal point. But no respawns in a game this large would be either the most camping ever seen or the most frustrating having to wait while dead.
And you hit it right on with the mics. Everytime i logged in no one had a mic, so i shut mine off. You realise just how much mics are needed in a game like this when no one uses them!

I've downloaded the beta, and I thought is was pretty good all things considered.
The game is on a download of 1.8g, the blu-ray that's gonna have the actual game on it is gonna be able to hold way more dat and therefore, I'm assuming, textures graphics etc will be ramped for the real thing.
The one thing this game does promote over most other FPS on the market is that the team HAS to communicate, else your gonna lose.
and from that perspective, it's a win in my book.

My biggest complaint is I never played a match where the objective was carried out because everyone gets gathered in one area and just plays deathmatch. Thats a lot of people all trying to do something and it becomes a mess.
My next complaint is this is a game where communication is a must, and i was the only one with a headset, wtf? Thats nothing against the game of course, but people dont understand what kind of game this is or something.
I will say im still excited for the final outcome, and I hope It turns out great. I'm not getting it day one but hopefully sometime after this 3 month rush of games. I just wont have time to play it since its online only with all these games coming out! Assuring feedback turns out good, since i played the beta, i will be getting it! And i dont care about falling behind in stats, one its a game and two if its realistic at all a guns a gun and a bullet can still bring em' down!
