PSXE Poll Update: Most Will "Wait And See" With 3D
Although Sony wants to bring us true 3D gaming ahead of schedule, that doesn't mean everyone will embrace it straight out of the gate.
Not surprisingly, the vast majority of readers won't be signing on for this new - and quite pricey - technology when 3D-enabled HDTVs first hit the market this summer. Most are planning to wait for a while, which is probably a smart move, especially when a big investment on a new 3D HDTV will set you back a few thousand. However, we're still very interested in seeing some of the new 3D software; we just heard this past week that Polyphony will provide racing fanatics with a 3D version of Gran Turismo 5, and we can't wait to try that. Maybe when you see 3D gaming before your very eyes, you'll be far more likely to ante up for the next technological upgrade. At the same time, weren't we just getting used to the flashy new world of HD gaming...? Heck, time passes so fast, it almost seems incomprehensible that the true 3D perspective is right around the corner. Wasn't it 2006 like, yesterday?
Now, in looking at February and March, we all know there are plenty of big releases. The question is, which is the one title you absolutely must have? Of all the amazing games scheduled for the next few months, what is the one potential masterpiece you just can't live without? In other words, if someone handed you sixty bucks and said, "you can buy one game between now and March 31," which would you bring home? We get the distinct feeling this will be a three-horse race between God of War III, Heavy Rain and Final Fantasy XIII.

As for Heavy Rain, that's a sort of wait and see. I wish all the best for it really - same with FFXIII (although my expectations have dropped dramatically considering we heard SQUENIX half-assed themselves and the consumers by following their moronic President's belief.)
But don't tell me everyone has forgotten about Ryu ga Gotoku 3 or Yakuza 3!?!?! I mean I know it sort of already came out, and there's no chance in hell it will receive any attention due to the big blockbusters coming out. But c'mon. Also whatever happened to the Star Ocean love? Well...that already came out as well and really won't be able to stand up to the competition.
As much as I understand that God of War is an amazing franchise and a killer game. It's one of those game that just isn't for me.

Even if the music is sucky, I could care less! So long as the gameplay, graphics, and storyline's good (Which it obviously WILL be :D), I can just turn down the music if it's so horrible lol. And I really REALLY doubt the music will be THAT bad! GOW III will be amazing, no matter what!

At any rate, FFXIII and Dante's Inferno are already preordered for me. I will get WKC and GOWIII at a reduced price point.

Oh and I want action now, like by Feb 9th and not after; I'll be slicing through FFXIII through all of March.

However, the game I really can't wait for isn't listed: MLB '10: The Show. I've played as the Detroit Tigers in '08 and the Chicago Cubs in '09. In '10, I will be playing as the perpetually bad Baltimore Orioles.
I also plan to buy White Knight Chronicles, Dante's Inferno, Heavy Rain and Final Fantasy XIII on Day One as well.

And no hesitation on this one, God Of War! I'm sure I'll pick up Heavy Rain too as soon as I can afford it. I'll wait for FFXIII to get cheap before I pick that one up. SE's made me wait unnecessarily long for it, so they can sit tight and wait for my $30 - $40.

ROTFLMAO!!
That's as bad as the upscaled DVD is as good as BluRay debate all over again.
When will people learn that if the information isn't already in the source you can't wave a wand and make it appear. 3D needs much more information, and any attempt at interpolating it from two different video frames dependent on the movement of objects within the frame is nuts. It's simulating 3D, it's creating an illusion of 3D, but it's not 3D and personally I suspect it's even more likely to cause a person that get's nausea with 3D even more problems than real 3D.
I can't wait for some idiot to say that upscaled DVD that's been up-dimensioned from two to three dimensions is as good as 3D BluRay.
Good lord, we're not only messing with the height and length of the picture now we are going back in time to a previous frame and extrapolating a third dimension. That sounds like a job for a Time Lord, what's that acronym again TARDIS - Time And Relative Dimensions In Space...Dr. Who, we may need you...

I am really looking forward to many releases in the next 2 months but if I had to go with my favorite(s), it would have to be aliens vs preditor and soulsilver for the ds. I'm a huge fan of kratos, but I'm a bigger fan of lugia and the preditor.

"I always hate buying new tech stuff. I hate it so much because I know that by tomorrow, they'll have come up with an upgrade or just something better than the one I have..."
Oh father, you don't know just how right you are! This whole 3D TV thing is kind of rushed. I mean, I practically JUST got my HDTV about 3 months ago... I'm barely even used to this one as it is! And now here we have 3D TVs coming into the stores? Weren't the movies good enough?
We're not like Bill Gates who can just throw their money around to buy every new technological advance. I'd definately like to give this 3D thing a shot though. But, I'm waiting for a very long time until I even THINK about getting a 3D enabled TV.
And I found the glasses annoying enough while watching 3D movies... Now it has to mess with our vision more in games? Isn't that the issue already?
In conclusion, slow down Sony. You're amazing, but, slow. Down.

Wanna know why? WKC is the first game in that list to get released, and I need an RPG. And since RPGs are games that are usually 60+ hours long, it'll keep me playing till after March 31st, by that time the condition of "1 game" would have expired, so then I'll buy the rest!

i got my new TV today and im a little disappointed.
theres not many features and it is a MASSIVE! pain in the a$$ to change the settings to your liking.
for some reason you either have the picture as vivid, standard, or custom.
if you choose custom theres like 40 different things you need to set up.
why cant i choose vivid which is the best looking one, and pick and choose what 40 settings i want to use from that?
typical sony pain in the a$$ interface, a 2 minute job has to turn into a 2 hour job.
not to mention the picture quality is not that impressive, you cant use game mode with the vivid setting and it does not support 3D like i thought it would :(
i might get a 3D TV for my room once there out if the price is right.

And For DI:
A: It comes out sooner and I will be occupied with FFXIII all through March
B: While I love GOW, the basics of the plots and backgrounds are known to me and DI is instead a fresh IP with new themes to explore.
C: I have a special interest in the lore it was loosely based upon and can't wait to get a load of those circles of hell.

When GOW2 released i was a bit surprised it wasnt on the PS3. But now that i look back it was a smart move because there was alot of ps2 owners not ready to make the move, and the newly ps3 owners (which i was) could still enjoy it!
Anyways GOW3 for me and Heavy Rain for sure. Will wait for MAG to go through all the patches IF NEEDED and ff13 I dont know im turned off by it. Will get it but later. And I gotta finish Bio Shock before i get Bio Shock 2 so in no hurry for that!
Man Thats a ton of games to want, o boy!

As for the 3D TV thing, way to soon for me, just got my Sony Bravia 32" 1080p HDTV in September (even though I already have my PS3 for like 2.5 years). Just like all those rumors about Playstation 4 coming in 2012, way too early, blu-ray and Playstation 3 are only just sinking in now.

Imo, 3d gaming is just a short trend that will (hopefully) die out soon. Its not really going to make the games any better and i feel its going to be a crutch for sub-par games that rely on 3d to make them worth playing. Kinda like 90% of wii games rely on the wiimote instead of actual good gameplay.

Mass Effect 2 - PC
Bioshock 2 - PS3
Splinter Cell Conviction - 360
Heavy Rain - PS3
Final Fantasy XIII - PS3
Ultimate God of War Trilogy - PS3
Gran Turismo 5 - PS3
And most of those are the collector's editions.
I can hear my wallet crying already.
Not only that, but I've got my sights set on the following as well:
Alan Wake - 360
Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker - PSP
The Last Guardian - PS3
Modnation Racers - PS3
Mario Galaxy 2 - Wii
No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle - Wii
Metroid Other M - Wii
Halo Reach - 360
Diablo III - PC
Starcraft II - PC
I hope to God my 2 jobs maintain good working hours. Else I might have to give up a few. I'm thinking Halo Reach, No More Heroes 2 and Modnation Racers will have to wait for the bargain bin. Shame.

THEN I will save up a bit of money towards a 3D TV.
Sorry Sony, but people do have priorities above the next big piece of tech. Don't give up though, once the price is right, the people will devour it, much like the PS3.
