MAG Beta Statistics Revealed, Over 1 Million Downloads
MAG launches in less than a week and that lengthy beta phase just recently ended on January 10.
Beginning on private servers in Europe last summer, this beta came to the US in the fall (still as a private test) and then opened its doors to everyone earlier this month. And now, as shown over at the official MAG blog, the big number tallies are in: firstly, there were "well over a million downloads" of the MAG beta client (860,000 in North America) and of that number, over 619,000 gained at least one point of experience. Of course, only 143 managed to max out their character at Lv. 60 but hey, that takes some serious time and dedication. Faction stats show that membership numbers were almost split between Valor and Raven (Valor at 38.7% and Raven at 37.2%) while S.V.E.R. trailed at 24.1%. But don't feel bad for the latter group; despite their lesser membership total, S.V.E.R. actually won the Beta 5.0 Shadow War, "barely edging out Raven." Valor beat Raven for the Domination title and overall, there were more than 225 hours worth of battles played out over the week of the War. That averages out to about 3.2 hours per person!
Lastly, big props to user chennault2424, the most prolific tester for the third beta period in a row: he earned almost 110,000 experience, bringing his total to over 360,000! My_Digital_Enemy, gome-bukuro (JP), basquasher (JP), and Behike (JP) round out the top 5...does anyone else find it interesting that three of the top five are from Japan? The region that supposedly despises FPS? Who would've thought a MMOFPS would be popular over there? Well, anyway, get ready for the full launch on January 25 in the US, fellow recruits.

Also, the pacing of the action is more deliberate and there is a greater emphasis on teamwork and strategy. I totally understand all the flak this game is getting for long respawn times, low weapon damage etc. but I found it to be a buttload of fun anyway.
As a big COD fan, I found this MAG really refreshing. Since going back to the MW2, it feels cramped and all the criticism about it being a run-and-gunner is starting to come into focus.
It seems like there is a lot of MAG hate going on the site, just like there was for MW2, but if anyone else here is getting it, add me as friend so we can battle together (PSN: goldendutch)

At least in MAG, the developers seemed to have fixed the shadow pixelation problem which seems to smack so many engines silly these days.
MAG game play and movement mechanics felt stiff to me. KZ2 feels right.

The bottom line is this game is not the same as MW2 or KZ2. Pacing is much slower than those two games, but theres a reason for it. Hope you guys have an open mind about till reviews comes out.

speed up the pace of the game.
add in some spawn points, that way im not tracking 100KMs from my base to the objective every time i die.
remove the hit detection issues, i run through a corridor a sniper blows my head off i continue running, take cover behind a cement wall and my head comes off.
WTF?
another scenario, a enemy has his back to me, i pump 30 assault rifle bullets into his back, he turns around shoots me once than we both die.
WTF?
1 bullet does the same damage as 30?
WTF?
add some color to the game, i mean seriously it is depressing its like a old country western film.
black, grey, and a little brown. what a color pate!

Bummer. I was looking forward to a larger shooter. Guess I'll just have to stick with KZ2 for bigger maps.
