Peter Jackson Considering Original Game Development
Oscar-award winning director Peter Jackson is known for creating some of the most amazing films in recent memory, but what if he turned his attention to the video game industry...?
During an interview with Ain't It Cool, Jackson speaks about new creative ideas that might work better as games rather than movies. He just completed his most recent film, "The Lovely Bones," based on the best-selling novel by Alice Sebold, and admits that he's actually "enjoying these games more than I am enjoying films at the moment." He's also well aware of the fact that game developers are "using a lot of film techniques now, especially the cinematic areas." As for any new game projects for Jackson, he says he's "involved with a Tintin game" and he's also working on a title based on the "Lord of the Rings" prequel, J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit." But above all else (in our eyes) is his newfound desire to try his hand at original games rather than merely game adaptations of films. Said Jackson:
"I think some of the ideas I've got, I'd rather do them as a standalone game, because that world is getting more and more interesting."
If Jackson lends his considerable directing talent to the game world, provided he has the right team around him (and it seems highly unlikely that he'll surround himself with lesser talent), it'll be very interesting to see what happens. Perhaps getting guys like this directly involved with the industry will mark another big step for video games... By the way, I would just like to add that I despised the book, "The Lovely Bones." Felt like I was getting punched in the kidneys with every passing chapter. 'gag' But I know everyone loved it, so I'll shut up. :)

I've got two kids aged 6 and 4 so probably something to do with thinking that your kids have been murdered.
Haven't seen the film though. Movie game tie-ins have never worked really so I won't get excited about Mr Jackson and his Tin Tin adventure!

anyway, a game based on his latest movie would be really cool.
ive always had a thing for survival horror mystery movies.
like the zodiac i loved that movie, and probably to this day one of the best movies i have ever seen.
now a video game based on that would be really cool!
kinda the reason why im really excited for alan wake.
finally a proper survival horror game, though i hope it does not lean to heavy on the supernatural side.
why does every horror game have to be based on either torture porn, zombies, or supernatural bogus?
why cant they be like heavy rain?
the good old phycopathic serial killers!

if you dont like my comments (which everyone seems to do) ignore them. i was simply expressing the joy i felt at the time.
and highlander, i care deeply for the american people, and i don't want them to get screwed AGAIN by our government. my dad was recently fired, and we are in a VERY tight spot (may have to give up playstation soon).
don't think im just some ignorant kid who's out to ruin websites. i express my opinion, and i try not to go to far when expressing it.
i won't bring up politics again... but just see where im coming from.
BTW, a peter jackson game doesn't sound half bad

I wouldn’t mind seeing what he could do, people doubted him with LotR and look what he pulled off. I'm looking forward to seeing 'The Lovely Bones' also. The only thing that bugs me is that Mark Wahlberg is cast as the father, The mother also bothers me, they look to young. Still looking forward to it though.

Just leave the talented people to work on the games, and let the celebrities mug for the cameras on the Jay Leno show.

Now i know im going to get tons of thumb downs for this as i'm on a game website, but i thought the quality of the film industry last year (and the year before) has risen dramatically, last year i enjoyed over 15 films at the cinema, just on that note alone, i believe they're doing their jobs well. last year only 4 new releases held my interest. though judging by this spring, i think thats going to be made up for.
