GameStop Offers Exclusive Yakuza 3 Pre-Order Incentives
Most people equate March 9 with the US release of Final Fantasy XIII but if RPGs aren't your bag, there's one PlayStation 3 exclusive that might capture your attention.
Yakuza 3 is set to launch on the 9th, too, and based on what we've seen and heard from the Japanese reviews, this one is a definite gem (and the best entry yet in the franchise). Furthermore, if you decide to pre-order the gritty action title from GameStop, you'll receive a few little bonuses. First of all, you'll get $5 off the purchase price, dropping the retail cost down to $54.99, and on top of that, you'll get the "GameStop Exclusive Challenge Pack." It's downloadable content that boasts a few two-player mini-games like bowling, darts and pool. You'll also be able to unlock new costumes for the main characters once you finish the game. If you want to pre-order online, your code for the DLC should be e-mailed to you and if you drop your deposit in a brick-and-mortar GameStop, you should get a little card with the requisite code. For a bunch of new screenshots, head on over to Examiner.com; this is one title that might avoid notice in March due to the major blockbusters scheduled for that month.
But you should certainly take a look at it. Yakuza has always featured the dark presentation of a GTA with a finely honed story, and the combat is always brutal and engaging.

AUs not getting this for some absurd reason!
probably because it would get banned, even though GOW3, FEAR 2 and AVP got passed.
and i was really looking forward to a open world game.
have not played a game of this type since saints row 2 and lets be honest that was far from stellar.

The exploration, depth and attention to detail that hardly has resemblance to gta once you jump in. Any Yakuza/Shen fan will tell you that.
That's another thing, it's resemblances to Shenmue are what drags in the most interest and yup, it has RPG elements, you do level up...so RPG alternative this may not be.
