EA Keeps Tiger, Announces Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11

A little infidelity and questionable behavior isn't going to get in the way of another Tiger Woods PGA Tour installment.

EA has announced Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, set to release on multiple consoles in June. If you need more incentive to try it, EA is offering you the chance to give it a try for free and invite others via Facebook to join the open beta. Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online "is the most accessible, authentic and feature-rich golf video game experience available through a web browser, with no game installation, no disc, and no additional peripherals required." Said executive producer Mike Taramykin:

"During beta testing we’ve already seen tremendous participation and enthusiasm from golf fans around the world for Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Online. We’re looking forward to offering all players the opportunity to preview the game for free* in the coming weeks. Also, during open beta gamers can invite others to play via Facebook and we continue to encourage the community to help to drive the game’s evolution and development."

So far, over a half million rounds of golf have been played and if you want to join in on the fun, you'll enjoy all sorts of new features: Facebook Connect, Golfer Progression (begin as a rookie and climb the professional ranks), The Cut Line (you must meet the target score), Fans, Favorites & Sponsorships (get your own fans!), Realistic Wind, and the Pro Shop. In short, one of the most popular sports simulators isn't going anywhere and in fact, it's getting better.

Side note: The Comments section will NOT erupt in a bashfest against Tiger Woods. Keep it game-related.

Who cares about Tiger? Elin should dump Tiger, and let him join Amway, along with his "girlfriends", as Amway also screws anything that moves.

Amway is a scam, and here's why: Amway pays out as little money as they can get away with, so they support the higher level IBOs ripping off their downline via the tool scam.

As a result, about 99% of IBOs operate at a net loss, while the top 1% make several TIMES more from their Amway tool scam than from the Amway products.

Read about it on my blog, I suggest you start here: http://tiny.cc/D5oJh and forward the information to everyone you know, so they don't get scammed.

That's why I hate media, they are so neby. It is non of there dam business what goes on in Tigers life. How would you feel if you are a celebrity and all media and people judge you? It's no ones right to judge others for you are being judge by God as we speak! Anyways thus guy is a legend. A guy on Tiger's level comes once in a lifetime. EA has won my respect over for doing this, but EA needs to loose the Madden license and give it to 2k sports!

So you're justifying him being a sleazebag simply because he can hit a ball 300yards with great aim?

Tiger makes hundreds of millions of dollars thanks to the media and has put himself in the public eye. Don't go blaming the media for reporting on his deviant behavior.

I'm with you DVE. Until someone can prove that they have never comitted a sin in their life, they should refrain from passing judgment on others. I'm willing to be that 99.99999% of us would still trade places with Tiger in a heartbeat.

EA's decision to stick with Tiger was key in me giving their sports lineup one last chance to dazzle me.

DVE, you are right, Tiger's life is none of our business, as long as he keeps it private. However, he couldn't do that, and once the cat is out of the bag, we can't ignore it.

He has built his image to be squeeky clean. Or if HE hasn't, then the endorsers have, and once the truth comes out, the endorsers have the right to pull the plug since he doesn't offer them what he once did.

No one is saying he can't golf anymore. I hope he does. He just doesn't have the same businesses lining up to shower him with endorsement deals. Hope all that action was worth it.

jay, judging is human nature. If you honestly find something wrong with judging a man who cheated on his wife with multiple women while she took care of his kids and then did all he could to hide it than I feel sorry for you. The lesson from all of this is it doesn't matter if it's Tiger Woods, it's wrong what he did. He can't have it both ways. He makes million of dollars thanks to the media and thus he has now chosen to destroy his image through the media.

Using your logic I guess we should let everyone out of prison since we're all sinners and who are we to judge.

@LV. I don't condone what Tiger did. I don't condemn it either because he did not make a vow to me. My only interest in Tiger is his golf and the game that carries his name.
If he wasn't the best golfer on the planet, I probably wouldn't know who he is.

Now how many entertainers/athletes/developers that you support cheated on their spouses? And of those who have, do you still support them?

Judging is not human nature. It is a choice to apply your moral system to someone else's life. If passing judgment is your thing, then I hope you do the same for anyone else you know who cheats on their spouse. That's all I'm saying.

Much love to you LV for your contributions on the site.

I understand what you're saying jay. I'd like to think when I pass judgment it's done so in an unbiased way. When I watch Tiger golf or play his games I see Tiger the athlete, but when I view the situation involving Tiger and his infidelity I see Tiger the person and I separate whatever I may think of his golf game.

My posts have not been about whether I'll play his games still, or if he will come back to golfing and dominate like he used to. I'm just pointing out how wrong it is to justify a person's actions just because they're good at a sport or a celebrity. Wealth/Fame do not excuse infidelity, especially when it's as severe as Tigers situation.

jaybiv, what I can't understand is why did he get married?

look at Derek Jeter, or George Clooney. Confirmed bachelors, and everyone still loves them. They don't pretend to be something they are not.

Tiger was a family man, that was the image he wanted, and that image brought in a lot of dough. If you think it was just about how good of a golfer he was, you are wrong. If he was as great as he is at golf, but outside of golf, he constantly broke the law (Randy Moss, or was a druggy (Ricky Williams), we would still like his skills, and he would have just got the Nike and EA deals, not the car deals, the AT&T deals, the Gillette deals. Through his actions he changed his image, and there are cause and effects that will happen.

Besides that, who says he should get all those endorsments? No one is saying he can't do his day job which is golf. If he doesn't golf again, that is his choice, and that is the one thing he can now control. He can't make the endorsment deals come back. He chopped the head off that golden goose.

No doubt LV. A lot of people use twisted logic and think a celebrity is better people than us, and everyday we have new examples that they are not. I value your opinion and was glad to have a civil discussion with you over this. I can't wait for the game to see if they really made some improvements.

@nightmare. Maybe he got married for the right reasons but then decided to stop passing up on free cooch women were throwing at him. Give me money and worldwide fame and I would be banging chicks left and right too even if I were married. Just keeping it real.

Tiger has only admitted to be a golfer. He never tooted his own horn telling people how great a person he was. Just because he received sponsorship money and made commercials does not mean that he owes us, the consumers, anything. Companies wanted to partner with him because of his ability, fame, and lifestyle.

Tiger losing endorsements is a moot point since the man has over $1 billion dollars. The companies that are sticking with him know that this will all go away once he gets back in the game and whips some @ss. His main sponsor is Nike and there is no way in hell they will part with the best player in the sport until his skills diminish and even then they will keep him around because Tiger still moves product.

EA's golf game would tank tremendously if they took Tiger's name off it, and that's why they are sticking with him.

Again, Nightmare I could examine your life and draw conclusions similar to what you believe of Tiger. But, I have better things to do like enjoy MY life and not worry about what others do with theirs. I just want him back on the course and the new game in my PS3.

Just kidding, I'm not big into golf games but I agree with DVE. What he does off the course shouldn't matter as long as it doesn't affect how he plays. Hell, where I come from people get drunk, cheat and wrap their Caddies (the car not the golfing type, although I'm sure it's happened to them too..) around trees all the time but no one cares.

Thanks to some media outlets though, the general populations has become infatuated in watching personal train wrecks of celebrities. I wouldn't even be surprised if this all turns out to be a publicity stunt to boost Tiger's popularity more. Wouldn't be the first time a celebrity has used a personal disaster to boost their media coverage.

I guess we should just be thankful that there isn't a sex tape about it.

good choice for your name. you really are limited..
The game is called 'Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11' not 'Tiger Woods cheated on his wife'. Who are you to judge him?
Don't get me wrong, i am not his fan, i never played any golf game, but you are going to far. Like you were some sort of preachers. you allways judge instead of keeping you thoughts for yourselves like civilized groing-ups do. you do this everytime, did it when michael jackson was acused for child abuse. i am absolutely sure, if tiger dies tommorow, everyone will remember which was the reason you all started to apreciate him, start crying and lay for 3-4 days in front of his 'memorial' house. pathetic. sorry for my english.

Who am I to judge him? Well for starters I'm a human being with the ability to think freely and engage in conversation with no limits thanks to FREE SPEECH.

People sticking up for Tiger Woods would not be doing so if it was a random name thrown around at work. I'm simply pointing out how faulty the logic and reasoning is to justify a man's actions simply because he's famous. If you disagree with this than I'd love for you to share.

If Tiger died tomorrow I'd remember him as an amazing athlete that ruined his family because his di** was too hungry.

Arctic, the issue is whether businesses want Tiger endorsing their product. They signed the "Tiger" brand to endorse their products. Now Tiger has branded himself in a new light, as someone who is less then desirable to endore their product.

You obviously don't understand business.

Even though some doors have closed for him, some new ones can open.

It makes sense for EA to stick with Tiger. There is no one else in golf with as big a name.

Endoresers worry customers will boycott them for controversial front men. EA won't have that worry. Gamers would never boycott a good game because of Tiger Woods indescretions. And when the game comes out, EA will probably get publicity from it.

Phew, I always find it hypocritical to link sportsmen or women with wholesome family role models. Why should a good athlete by forced to be a good citizen? Sports does not equal good ethics.

We should be looking for good role models within our own communities (Dads, coaches, teachers, Policeman) instead of focussing on the "celebrity".

Tiger. I'm sure if I had your money and your spare time wandering bored around hotel lobbys I would do the same. Not judging you at all. It's the people that hold you up as a role model that should look closer to home for guidence.

About the game? I'm Scottish and was born close to Carnoustie one of the best courses in the world but golf is still "a good walk wasted".

Regardless Tiger is still an amzing golfer, and probably one of the best ever! EA is smart to stick with him for the pure reason that Phil Mickelson just isn't as popular! Still a great golfer though.

What Tiger did was absolutely wrong though and I would understand and do understand all his endorsment drops. As a person he's probably just like any of us (minus the gaming ;)...) BUT, yea this big BUT, just got caught up in infedelities, which is no excuse be sure! But as a sports fan its still hard to pass judgment on his golf game, which is to say the least... Phenomenol!

I'm glad EA stuck with it, i enjoy the Tiger Woods games and 2006 for the PS2 was my favorite. Will probably play 2011 at some point also!

Why should we care about the life of Tiger? Specially in this country, people like gossip too much. I really dont care why he does. I just like to see him playing golf. Americans like to impose their moral in others. If he wanna has 10 women, that is his problem, not yours.

This crap happens when you have a lot of people watching tv and all they do is care about celebrities instead of getting a job. I hate when Americans want to act as real Christians, while at the same time supporting the war in Iraq that has killed thousands of civilians, women and kids.

Oh I see so the only way to have morals is to be a Christian?

The only reason I ever knew who Tiger Woods was in the first place is because he's one of the best damn golfers the world has ever seen, EVER! Possibly THE best. As far as I'm concerned that hasn't changed.

I'm not justifying what he did, I am a family man and that's just not right, but I couldn't give two sh*t's about his personal life, don't care. I don't care about any celebrity's personal life. The Tiger Woods golf games are, for the most part, good solid games, and THAT's what this industry is about right? Good decision by EA.

And drop the Tiger hate. Has his actions had a direct impact on your life? Seriously, If you're so consumed and dependent on celebrity gossip that your life has been negatively affected by Tiger Woods... I feel sorry for you.

The situation over in Haiti hasn't negatively impacted my life. Am I consumed and dependent on it simply because I talk about it and form my own opinion? I think you're confusing "interested" and "appalled" with "consumed" and "dependent".

What have I written within this article that's off topic. Please explain, or are you just going to accuse blindly as you've already shown?

limited, yikes dude. what does this have to do with Haiti? That's World News man, celebrity philandering is hardly news, it's gossip. A natural disaster that claims countless lives is a tragedy and I'm a tad offended you'd think I could even put it on the same scale. I think you totally missed my point man.

No I got your point and I chose a very extreme example in hopes you would get my point. You're way off base if you think simple conversation regarding an athlete amongst others online is wrong.

Discussing matters that may not effect someone personally is normal and we do it everyday; whether it's Tiger banging a dozen cocktail waitresses or an earthquake across the globe.

Nah, I get what you're saying limited. And there's nothing wrong with simple conversation. Everyone has an opinion, and they're entitled to it. Mine: It's just not worth getting this worked up over some athletes indiscretions. I cringe every time I see/hear celebrity 'news'.

I won't defend Tiger, no way, but I won't condemn him either. I gots better things to worry about... like killing Robert de Sable so I can finally meet Ezio.

But... I like golfing games... they're a great excuse to get friends together for drinks and good times. And there's no risk of crashing your golf cart into a ditch cuz you started your game at the 19th hole.

Agreed. I am all for "reasons" to get to get together..

But, I am going to quote song that I grew up on.

"Dirty little secrets, dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybody's pie
Love to cut you down to size, we love dirty laundry"

What's the difference between a Cadillac Escalade and a golf ball?

Tiger Woods can drive a golf ball more than 200 yards. ;)

They are going to have to cut some of the announcer comments though. Such as "Oh and Tiger nearly misses the hole." and "That shot landed in rough." and "He's gonna have a hard times getting out of that one." and "That ball is on the beach"
