Bayonetta Creator Considering Sequel Or Spin-Off
Bayonetta is well deserving of a 9+ score and much of the praise it has received; it features the single most fluid, intricate, complex combat mechanic of any action game of the generation, in my opinion. Love or hate the style, the gameplay is a triumph. ...but I'm talking about the Xbox 360 version. We all know what happened with the PS3 version.
This is why I believe we can speak for all PS3 owners when we tell Platinum Games and game creator Hideki Kamiya that if they plan to make a sequel, they had best not leave us out in the cold again. Although you may not have seen it yet, we've heard that the March edition of Game Informer features an interview with Kamiya, and he says Bayonetta 2 isn't out of the question. He added, "I'd like to approach the world of Bayonetta from a different angle, in the form of a spin-off." Okay, now this could be risky; the reason the first game rules the school is because of the amazing overall gameplay. If you plan to shake this up and make a Bayonetta RPG or a platformer or something, you may end up with the biggest dud of a spin-off or sequel in history. I now have nightmares of Platinum Games stripping off Bayonetta's leather, putting her in a two-piece, and having her zip around on a freakin' jet-ski in DoAX fashion. While the character's sex appeal is there for a reason in Bayonetta, it's hardly the focus; to make it the focus will ruin everything.
And really, if you're going to do another one, spin-off or sequel or whatever, you absolutely must make it as a multiplatform title. Any more porting from Sega and you may never hear from PS3 owners again.
