FFVII Remake Rumor Crushed...Again
You know, I think I'm going to use the Cloud pic from "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" any time there's new evidence to support a Final Fantasy VII remake, and then use the Sephiroth pic when Square-Enix once again shoots it down.
It wasn't long ago when we heard that Square-Enix would announce a secret title in 2010; a game that "everyone has requested." This last bit turned out to be untrue and while it is true that we'll hear about a currently unknown game from S-E this year, it's not something "journalists and gamers have been begging for," or some such nonsense. So that revelation brought our heads down out of the clouds - again - and now, Tetsuya Nomura squashed any remaining hopes. According to JustPushStart citing the most recent issue of Famitsu magazine, Nomura says we simply shouldn't expect a FFVII remake any time soon. There's a big layout in the issue featuring Cloud Strife and there's mention of games he will appear in (cameo appearances), but beyond that, they don't seem to be entertaining any thoughts of a full-blown remake. Then again, maybe they're just denying it and biding their time for the huge unveiling later this year, when they totally bring the house down with the gargantuan announcement...
Yeah, that's the unrealistically optimistic side of me talking. But I'm relatively certain that I'll dig out the Cloud pic of "Advent Children" again at some point. Let's face it; this rumor is never gonna die out completely.

But then again they wouldn't make a FFVII remake for the customers, they'd make it for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
They are essentially busy with other projects. But don't you guys remember Nomura sama clearly stating that we won't see many projects related with FFVII for a long time right after FFVII: Advent Children Complete came out. I don't have a link, but I do remember Ben provided an article for us on that.
So right after that I knew they weren't working on anything FFVII. So I don't see how the FFVII rumor even came up again after the whole "a game that "everyone has requested.""
But then again ignorance is bliss. =)
Or you could just plain forget.

That would be an absolutely AMAZING thing for SE to do! I'm kind of getting tired of these prequel things they're coming out with (i.e Birth By Sleep, 358/2 Days, and Coded). Let's move on SE, I'm tired of trying to imagine what the note could have possibly said at the end of KH2.
SE would earn back the respect it lost from the FFXIII going multiplat. It would get my respect back for sure.

I can see them doing a few VII spin offs maybe to appease us. As for a remake of the original, I'm still trying to decide if that's a good idea or not. As much as I\d like to see it, part of me feels that they'll just ruin it and they should leave well enough alone.

It's not like they could sneakily cut out huge chunks of the game and no one will notice, is it?
Also like others have mentioned Squeenix would only be doing this for 2 reasons 1. please their fans and generate brand loyalty and 2. the insanely huge profits.
I expect FFVII is their trump card if things are really going down the pan. If Squeenix suddenly run into financial trouble they know exactly what to do to bring home the bacon.

This also proves how blind you are.
"Nomura says we simply shouldn't expect a FFVII remake any time soon."
Let me rephrase the last three words of the sentence above in caps: "ANY TIME SOON".

Weather he did say this or not DOESNT MATTER. Who is going to assume that something that Ben says is definate anyway? No offense! Alot of big games are always being delayed off their release dates and their content can always be change.
We know that Ben is obsessed with a FFVII remake (sorry, has to be said) but booze, u just sound a bit argumentave and want to prove Ben wrong but i do agree that he should let it go and if it happens it happens :)

couldn't have came back to a better post like this one :) been gone for a while but let me get started!
"Let's face it; this rumor is never gonna die out completely." this is true.. but that's because one end there is evidence to make it seem and appear true and then on the other hand you have some of the evidence and the verbal "rumor crushes" of SE that just kinda make you say "$%^#$%^" I wonder though.. is this one of those things where if we stop thinking about it... it'll actually happen? or should we continue to bang on SE's doors and expect it to happen? continue asking until they give? or follow the saying "if you love something let it go, should it come back then it's real. if not then it was never meant to be"? i had to give scarecrow a thumbs up to his comment though because in a way he is absolutely right..
on a side note.. i remember that post wayyy back here on this site about the petition to remake the game.. what's the status of that petition? what ever happened to it?

Besides all that, I don't like the English speaking Cloud or Sephiroth. The voices I hear in my head for them are much better then the monotone voice actors they used in Advent Children, KH and Dissidia.

well, if they keep it exclusive then they can keep the japanese voices on the bluray.
On another note, something is telling me that the delay on the remake is about Wada wants the game to be multiplatform because of microsoft's money while sony saying no, they probably have some rights on it, and Wada just trying to get sony to pay up.

1.) They're hard to find
2.) They're still expensive when found (i.e Vintage Stock: $60)
And
3.) The graphics would kill my eyes.
I know the third one just sounds like an excuse, but can you blame me? Anyhow, a remake onto the PS3, I would DEFINATELY go buy, no matter what. It does go without saying, that a remake would definately SELL. I don't really see why they wouldn't, seeing as they're in for the money nowadays with FFXIII going multiplat. Well, let's just keep hoping and wait for this "Surprise unveiling" of SE.

Remaking a game as special as FFVII or even FFVIII wouldbe an exensive undertaking, and a risky one. You would want to maximize your audience. Plus SE has Microsoft lurking at it's shoulder - figuratively speaking.
Wat if Sony owns some of the copyrights involved in FFVII or FFVIII? What if the contracts between Sony and SE for the original and/or PSN releases of the games contains language that allows Sony to forbid releasing the game on another platform?
Then Sony could be basically saying "Make it exclsive, or don't bother remaking it."
If that's the case, I can live with that. I would rather have the original games as is than a half-assed, gimped for 360 version.

ive never really liked RPGs, they normally bore the crap out of me but i really enjoyed kingdom hearts.
maybe its because i love the characters in there, ive always been and always will be a massive donald duck fan.
id love to see some of the loony tunes games get a remake too like loony tunes sheep raider or lost in time.
those were fantastic games, i miss hard puzzle based games like sheep raider.
stealing sheep and making sure you dont wake the watchdog one of the best games on ps1.
who needs a ps3 when you have a ps1?
its true what they say, older things are always better than newer things.

Most games are great just the way they are, but I often wonder what some of my favorite old-shool games would look with some bad@ss new generation graphics. Some examples would be Secrete of Mana,Chrono Triger,Castlevania,Kid Icarus,Russian Attack. What i mean is just update graphics don't mess with anything else.

A new FFT ( handheld sequel and the new Vandal Hearth graphics excluded ) being in top of my list .Another Parasite Eve or Vagrant story game would be great too ( unlikely but i can always hope).

SE has took a PS exclusive and took the fun of what it was out of it for Xbox, and they won't even bring the dream's that we had back. Honestly in my opinion, FUCK them.
They where beast mode back then and they where a company I was loyal too, but not anymore. They lost me.
