I made a judgement on Bioshock 1 based on the demo. I didn't like it too much, which is why I passed on it. Maybe I should pick it up sometime down the line?

I clearly understand what you mean Ben and it is unfortunate. I bought Bioshock for the PS3 and it literally blew me away, i can't wait for the sequel to arrive, it's such a unique gaming experience!

However, it is a great predicament to be in as a gamer and even better if you're Sony, if i might add lol

Alright I'll be downright honest with you guys. I never bought Bioshock and I don't have a PS3 nor an Xbox 360. But if I did have either, I would have definitely got it. I mean hell I played the demo of Bioshock on my 3gb RAM laptop PC which made it lag like hell. But I still enjoyed it!

If I had a PS3 - I would definitely get Bioshock and Bioshock 2. Love the originality of that game. Very unique. That's saying a lot coming from a guy who doesn't enjoy survival horror so much, but Fatal Frame is awesome! =)

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner, it's just been a hectic couple of weeks, I haven't even been able to post regularly here for a little bit now!

I received a call from him about 3 days ago, and he told me he did have it, the only downside being, he has to check through some of his boxes (he moved into a new apartment, so all of his stuff is still in boxes), so when he finds it, he will give me a call, and as soon as i hear anything, I'll gladly update you!

Me either. At first I didn't really care for the first Bioshock, I would see my brother play it on his 360, and thought it was a little boring looking. When it came out for the PS3, I rented it and ate my words. The game was so different from other FPS games, that I liked it right away. Already have this in pre-order and can't wait to pick this up.

It would be a crying shame indeed if PS3 owners didn't buy this game. I still think this is going to be the best game that comes out in the first 3 months. The people at 2K Marin know how to make a video game that is fun to play and immersive.

Oh, the pain of having so many awesome games on the PS3.

I didnt get a 360 until Halo 3 came out, so got Bioshock on the PC, and loved it. I've only played it with a mouse and keyboard, which makes me kind of wonder about how the console controls are. I guess I will hook my 360 controller to my PC and see how I like it.

I have the PC and PS3 versions. Of course it's easier with keyboard and mouse but, just like every game, once you take a few minutes to get accustomed to it, you get used to it.

C'mon, Jawkn!! You need to put KZ2 down and play a real game that is more than just a shooter!

I got Bioshock when it first came out for 360 and beat it really fast due to it being one of those games that causes your other games to collect "dust bunnies" in their cases. Talk about an atmosphere setting the tone for a game. One of the best in this generation at doing so. (Think Dead Space "unda dah sea".)

Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2 are going to be battling for the top spot in my play for a good while.

@www, I wouldn't know. Havent played the 360 version. But I did notice the main menu is very pixilated. Which is odd because I was told the PS3 version was supposed to sport higher res textures.

@Audiak, I'm not big on FPS to begin with. By no means do I think Bioshock is a bad game. I just don't dig it much.

yeah, i played the game and although it was good, it wasnt enough to hook me in or make me excited for the sequel. I did finish it though. seems that i dont really follow what people love. I never like mass effect and portal which people tell me are amazing games. those two games are only a few which i dont see the draw in. but then again, i did buy modern warfare 2 and haze so i guess my taste in games are all over the place.

Alright I can see where you are coming from with the FPS thing though they all don't have crappy campaigns, but what is with the hate on multi-platform games? Honestly there have been so many good ones how can you make such a grossly incorrect generalizing statement.

Buying games on just hype is one of the stupider things you could do. Look on screenshots, watch gameplay videos, read previews/reviews, use your own brain and decide by yourself if it's something you might like.

I'm probably pre ordering very soon. Gamestop has a power trade so if you trade in any one PS3 game and have the edge card you get 35% off the price. I don't know if I want the vinyl record of the in game music though.

Komotaya... not really; there is no excuse for developers not give you the choice when you can use a mouse and keyboard on the PS3. Its a 64bit computer; it could run Linux at full speed if they wanted to make it so..

So there is no excuse; I would have liked to have played Killzone 2 with a mouse and keyboard too :(

killzone 2 would feel more natural? mind explaining that for me. the controls for killzone 2 is supposed to reflect the movement with all the gear you're carrying so it would feel sluggish. after playing modern warfare 2 alot and then jumping in a game of killzone 2, the control differences are definitely noticeable. I just want to know what you meant with it feeling more natural. thanks man.

KZ2 wouldnt have felt more natural. It was meant for the PS3 which is where it will stay forever. It was desgined to be played with a controller and on a console.

Also there are plenty of keyboard mouse adaptors out there. My buddy has one and uses it all the time. It doesnt work perfect but he says it works good enough. He is a huge PC guy too and if he likes it then well... Not to mention there is that Mouse peripheral out that also mimicks the DS3 buttons on a mouse. It doesnt have a keyboard but does give you the mouse!

Either way There is alternatives to your complaints. I dont know if its worth the trouble for you guys though. As I said He is a huge PC guy and needed something besides the controller at the time so...

I know it was supposed to feel sluggish. I just thought sometimes you could never get the hang of aligning your target just right and instant like you can when you use a mouse and keyboard. Not trying to say KZ2 sucked because you couldn't use a mouse and keyboard(KZ2 is awesome!)I hope this answers your question.

I loved the first one enough that I definitely won't pass on the sequel altogether, but I'm not convinced that I need to experience this as soon as I am able.
My time is already going to be too tied up with 'Mass Effect 2' and 'White Knight Chronicles' releasing before it, and I don't intend to pay full price for a game that's merely going to sit in my 'to-do' pile for who knows how long (once 'Heavy Rain' releases, I'm likely to drop virtually all other plans and focus on it).

Enjoyed the first one very much on the Xbox 360, never got around to buying and playing it on the PS3 though. I have been looking forward to this title since it was announced, I just hope it does as well as the first one. I am kind of worried that it won't be as successful.

I know this will make same irritated but I will most likely be getting Bioshock 2 on the Xbox 360, only because I have the first one on that system and I am used to the controls and whatnot. Just like I'll be getting FFXIII for the PS3, because it feels right on that system(Never in my dreams will I be playing an FF title on an Xbox system). =\

i dont really see the control as a good excuse at all anymore. dont get me wrong, i agree with you about getting it on the system thats more comfortable with you. since i've been playing the ps3 alot i would decide to get it on the ps3.
there were some differences when using both controllers, like the analog stick placement. Some games also have some different button placements like in cod4. on the 360 you use the r trigger while ps3 uses R1. but with shooting games, i cant really feel any difference though.

For me it's just a personal thing really, if I get a game on one system I am more likely to get the sequel on the same system, I am more of a PS3 fanboy than anything though. I guess I really shouldn't care about the same system but for some reason it urks me to not have a complete series on one system, a weird habit I suppose. lol

Although, I do agree. Controls shouldn't really matter, it's the game itself that is important.

Cant wait B2 is a must have for me, I like a few others played the first one for a few hours and didnt get the hype, but then my friend told me the ending was amazing so I put it on the easiest difficulty just so I could experience the actual STORY of the game and that's why this is the "lead car" on my own personal hypetrain followed by Heavy Rain, WKC, Red Dead, Gran Turismo 5, and GoW3 but not necessarily in order of importance. I also want more details on ModNationRacers I'm hoping it will be Sony's MarioKart as I'm sure they have plans to "LBP" it with GoW and the like.

i wont be passing it up but they need to release demo b4 the game comes out not months after and bio-shock doesn't really have any commercial that i have seen besides the one about the 2 pre-order characters which isn't enough to inspire anyone to get the game if they don't even know anything about it

definately way down the pecking order for me. possibly be looking at it in the summer unless between now and release they put some info out that makes this a must have, cause at the moment it's a luke warm reception. i'm not completely sold on the idea of multiplayer to be honest specially with MAG out in next few days

I am definitely getting this game. I played and beat the first one and im excited to fight the big sister and play multiplayer. (first time ive ever been excited about a fps and multiplayer). The most thing im excited about is the story.

i dont know why either. all i know its the type of game that almost always makes me sure i spent that 60 bucks right. i mean sure the modern warfare 2 single player wasnt anything special, but i'm still playing the game. Usuall i play fighters only when i have people over. i hate fighting games online, any lag ruins the game for me. Rpgs usuall 2 or 3 playthroughs depending on the length but after that i dont go back unless i really want to replay a scenario. its the same with action adventure games. although now i do start at the hardest difficulty just to get the most trophies at each playthrough. racing games i play until i get bored, and i do get bored just doing the same thing over and over again.

I really can't wait for this game, getting real excited, I loved the first one the storyline is great it's different and thats what I love about it.
Feb/Mar is really breaking the wallet I will be getting WKC if I get a gcard to gamestop or wherever for my birthday at the end of FEB.

I am definitely buying it on day 1, the controls worked perfectly for how the game is set up. This isn't your average FPS, its Bioshock. There are major substantial differences, yeah isn't it odd how you didn't notice that you can light someone on fire from your finger-tips then shoot them with a shotgun or a Tommy Gun? Average my a$$.

I loved the gameplay, the power-ups, the story, and I loved the choices to save or harvest the little sisters, but I experienced so many glitches while playing. I mean to the extent that no one would want to play the game. Big Daddies respawning like enemies from COD. The lack of ammo and resources to destroy the stronger enemies like Big Daddies. I honestly respawned about 30 times just to destroy one Big Daddy. Try taking out a Big Daddy with a wrench. It's like trying to shave all the metal off a car with a toothbrush. Not fun. Also, there was one point where after I destroyed one Big Daddy, another respawned and it didn't attack me until I attacked it.?

The funny thing is, I played the 360 version to a further point in the game without any major glitches like those already stated. I just don't know what the problem is.

Definitely won't play B2 unless I beat B1 so I probably won't be getting it.

Qubex-Did you beat the Reaper boss on the Dante's Inferno demo yet? I remember you saying something about the QTE not showing up on screen.

you can kill big daddys easily with certain bullets, im not sure which one right now. there are plenty of ammo available, dropped by enemies or bought. and big daddys do respawn but do not attack unless you attack it first so you can get near them and they wont care.

as for respawning 30 times to kill one, they named him big daddy. going against it head on isnt something i would call a good idea.

I've never used a vita chamber. And you don't have to fight the big daddies. You can just walk right by them. The only time they'll attack you is when they have a little sister with them and your near it, you attack them first, or you cracked a password somewhere. Sometimes they'll just push you if your in there way. There are some points in the game where you have to fight them when they don't have little sisters but other then that, when they respond just don't attack them.

I had the 360 version and, at one point, there was a patch that if downloaded, it made the game "laggy" for lack of a better word. Obviously, there was no online for that game, but that's how I would describe the glitches that happened while playing. A short while later, another patch was sent out fixing that. Not sure if that explains your lack of problems with the 360 version or not. I just thought something similar might have happened with the PS3 version and you might not have downloaded the latest patch. Just a guess...

im kind of really excited for this but at the same time worried.
watching some of the videos it looks really creepy and scary which i like, combat seems more fluid and faster, puzzles seem harder but less frequent.
all good things, but im still reserved on playing as a big daddy throughout the whole game.
its like playing through DMC 1,2,3 as dante than have a new hero come in and take the crown............................o wait

The fact that this is a FPS to an original game that won many GOTY awards and that it's a simultaneous release with the X360/PC is sure to guarantee solid sales. Personally I think this will easily outsell WKC.

I think many gamers will be sitting on the fence with heavy rain. I believe it is one of those games that would sell really well if it gets great reviews, which I think is a pity in some ways as the industry really needs breath of fresh air ideas like heavy rain and I personally can't wait to play it

BioShock was the gaming experience of the DECADE for me. The amazing atmosphere in that game is yet to be beaten by any other game. In fact it was so good that I have a hard time understanding how the sequel can possibly surpass it.

Ive tried Halo 3 and ODVT and just changing guns and little cosmetic improvements doesnt make it a sequel.By the by,i was comparing 3 and the new one but probably 1 and 2 follow the same pattern.

No one talked about Halo 1 being better than 2,i implied its the same game in a new case (kinda like resident evil 5 gold edition and the original resident evil 5)

You never specified which Halo games you were comparing. I took it to mean that you had played all three (you can't include ODST in this because it is not a true sequel) and you were able to comment on those because you generalized all of Halo by your comments. Clearly, had you played the others, you would see the improvements.

Now, if we go with your arguement about how you think that if it "does'nt surpass its predecessor then slap on a halo tag and call it a day", you are essentially saying that those sequels were not better/true sequels because they didn't change enough of the formula. How much did Uncharted 2 really change from Uncharted 1? Wasn't it minor adjustments and sharper graphics? Some say the story might be a little better in 2. Okay, I'll give you that. However, it couldn't have been THAT much better. My point being, that game surpassed the original with a few changes! Why does a developer need to change up the tremendous formula if that same tremendous formula was what made the game what it was to begin with? Apply that to Halo. All the Halo games have the same "type" of story, same "type" of multiplayer, and same "type" controls, yet, each one got better because of "changing guns and cosmetic changes." Please play the other games or be more specific before you bash Halo.

Jeez,you not following monami.Uncharted 2 had 'few' LARGE changes and i always thought the point of a sequel was to step even further,not to go round and round like a tethered goat. I get it you 're a fan of Halo,one man's meat...but being coaxed to play the same game with different box arts is what i know Halo as.Not bashing Halo, just calling a spade a spade.

And Halo ODCT was advertised as the next halo game...note they've stopped using numbers (Bungie must've understood the irony)

nothing of those will matter or be missed any more cuz we don't need them in actuality with the super crazy lineups of the games such as GOW3, Demon's Souls, Bayonetta, WKC, FF13, The Last Guardian, FFv13, FF14, Resonance of Fate, Nier, The Last Rebellion, Dante's Inferno, Darksiders....

I havnt finished Bioshock yet. I got it for Christmas and I'll admit it's hard for me to get into. But I will finish it and I will eventually be getting Bioshock 2. But im in no hurry. Theres to many games that I need, (Heavy Rain, GOW3, to name a couple) when this is merely a game I want.

Plus my hdd is retty much full (7000 MB left). im getting my 320 gb hdd in a couple weeks though so should solve my problems eh!?!? ;)

I think if these publishers would just respect the exclusives and not come out around the same time, they wouldn't have this problem. I'm getting WKC, Heavy Rain, GOW3, and FF13. And that's all I plan on getting. These games are the reason I stuck by Sony.

Bioshock is just the surprise hit that I enjoyed when their wasn't much to play on the PS3, not really one of the reasons why I bought a 3. Now, I'm up to my shoulders in games! I still haven't beaten some of these Holiday Season games!

Bioshock will have to wait. 2k should've learned from EA and Tim Schafer. Brutal Legend dropped on the same day as Uncharted 2! I still haven't gotten around to worrying about playing Brutal Legend.

Respect the exclusives, multiplat publishers! That is all.

im the complete opposite, i completed all of the games i bought, well all but warhawk. i mean ranking up in that game is a pain. so right now i got mag, and immediately know im gonna spend a lot of time on this game. gonna play it in between playing white knight chronicles and final fantasy XIII IF i have time in between. Then after that getting god of war collection and god of war 3 just so i can see what its all about then back to bad company 2 to get my shooter fix again, only after i finish mag.

Same here, not having the time or all that much scratch right at the moment I'll be waiting a little while before I get it, but I will get it eventually. The first one was a nice trip and I'm interested with what they are doing with the multiplayer. But like I said it'll be a little while before I get it. More than likely when it comes down in price.

Bioshock or Battlefield Bad Company 2? Bioshock loses. Bioshock or Mag? Bioshock loses. With a COD VIETNAM game rumored to come out later this year with Medal of Honor coming out in the fall, Bioshock will not sale much.

Not to mention God of War and Dante's Inferno.

At 65 dollars a price we, as consumers, have to be very careful with our money.

I will buy it when it drops down to 19.99. :)

It's mainly a single-player FPS with an actual story. Compare it to other FPS games focusing on online multi-player and it's obvious that the latter ones will be selling the most, considering how many people jump on the hype train nowadays and buy every new flashy generic FPS that comes out.

Sales aren't everything though...just look at Uncharted 2.

I got Bioshock for the PC, started it and couldn't be bothered to finish it.

Got Bioshock for the PS3, started it but didnt finish it.

Just dont like the game I guess. So me, I wont be flogging a dead horse by getting number 2.

I passed on the first game after playing the demo. I just couldn't get into the gameplay. This past fall, I picked up Bioshock since it was now $19.99. My buddy was telling me that it was an awesome game and that the demo didn't the game justice, so I figured, "what the hell... let's try it." After playing through the game for a while, I can honestly say that my original opinion still holds. The gameplay is just boring to me. Maybe I'm becoming tired of FPSs, who knows? I REALLY wanted to like this game, though, because the graphics and sounds are amazing! They literally blow me away each time.

I think all you are making a HUGE mistake if you keep judging this game with that stupid demo. The demo is kinda misleading just like the Dead Space demo. The full experience is very enjoyable and satisfying. Plus, its got some unique graphics I much adored. Bioshock is a classic!

I'll be getting Bioshock 2 at a later date but not now.

There was no sales pitch by www, He simply is saying dont judge Bioshock (not bioshock 2) by the demo. He didnt even say anything regarding how good or what he thinks of Bioshock 2. All that was said about Bioschock 2 was he simply would be getting it later.

Like I said before, Bioshock 2 didn't make me wait YEARS for localization therefore bioshock 2 gets my money while with WKCs I might as well wait another few months for the price to go down.

I haven't even seen any new footage for WKC's besides a single video on the online aspect that had the most annoying sounding narrator I've heard in quite a while telling me nothing I didn't read years ago. Do they even want to sell it? Doesn't seem that way.

yea I was kind of interested in WKC but the battle system is kind of a turn off to me... I hate having to wait to attack again if the battles aren't turn-based though it does have some cool features.

I bought the first Bioshock day 1. I loved it, but I just can't get excited about the sequel. I think it's a combination of the game's shift towards online and the fierce competition.

One of the things that really stood out about the first game, was the long and satisfying single player experience. I typically don't play FPSs because I don't enjoy playing team death match over and over again. I'm sorry, but it bores me.

Also with GOW3, Heavy Rain, White Knight, and FFXIII taking top priority, I won't have the time or money for Bioschock 2.

Isn't there an entire economic concept behind unlimited wants and limited resources? There are just not enough hours in the day to play all of the good games that are coming out, which means I'm going to have to pass on some high quality titles. This is one of those games.

I agree with the timegap of Bioshock 1 being a huge issue, i remember when it first appeared on the 360, i was very excited by it, i played the demo and loved it, but by the time it finaly got on the PS3 i had just lost interest, I intend to start re-playing soon... but i just never get around to it.

I played and really enjoyed Bioshock for PS3 and I will be playing the sequel - hopefully it won't have what I consider to be some of the most difficult trophies anywhere. There is no reason not to have Platinum for most single player only games but some of those Bioshock trophies - Holy Crap! Since the sequel has multiplayer - I also hope that the trophies for MP are limited such as Uncharted 2 or even MW2 (I'm still amazed that I was able to Platinum MW2 by myself with only 3 exceptions, needing help to get the 3rd star with those additional missions)
This year is going to be awesome!

I picked up part one for PS3 and enjoyed it quite a bit -- though I didn't think it was quite the masterpiece some made it out to be. Definitely will play part 2 sooner or later, but right now, man alive are there a LOT of great games out and coming soon. And I still haven't finished by Christmas haul of games yet either!

I played the first game on 360 before it blew up. I am looking forward to this game, it had a very eerie setting with a classic story. I hope more people buy the second one so we don't get the same FPS over and over again.

The first Bioshock sucked IMO. The controls were ass backwards, and I wasn't a fan of the story line. So I'm going to pass on this sequel too. Too many good games for ps3 owners to worry about right now.

February through March I will be buying eleven PS3 games and BioShock 2 is definitely one of the eleven. The story in the first BioShock was quite intriguing and unique. I would think the sequel would be just as creative in story and play as the original.

Honestly, this is one of the games I don't feel like paying $65 for. I loved Bioshock and I felt my $20 dollars was well spent, but I would never buy it at full price and that goes for the sequel too. Don't care for multiplayer as I am busy for a good amount of the day and plus does anyone else feel like the multiplayer looks sloppy and corny. Seriously, money is not an issue, but I don't have that "must have" feeling for this game like I do for Heavy Rain, Red Redemption, and GOWIII. Not really too interested in the new story as the developers probably wants us to be. Bioshock 2 is not a sequel, it is just another take on the series, and I think that is what makes me not a eager customer.

feel the same way as the above posts. there just two many good looking games coming out for me to want this right away.

i did really enjoy the art style and story of the last game, but hated that there was no new game+ at the end. i felt so sad i couldnt play through it a second time with all of my attributes built up already to get the alternate ending. (i had the 360 version when it first came out by the way).

and i hate that you have to pay for it as dlc for the ps3 version.

Maybe I'll take another shot at Bioshock then. There were some other glitches besides the issues I stated earlier but maybe I just didn't understand exactly how one is supposed to play through the game. Next time I pick up a game, it will definitely be Bioshock. If my play through is smooth then there's is a chance I might pick up the sequel. Thanks for the explanation johnld.

I won't say I will pass on Bioshock 2, I just have a whole bunch of other games I would like to play first. And these days things have been very tight on the money front.

Plus I actually haven't finished the first one yet... Got pulled into other titles that came along.

I must say when I started playing Bioshock I wasn't all that impressed but a couple of hours in I actually realized how good the game actually is. Can't remember where I'm currently at so I might have to start over just so I can follow the story again.

But as it stand right now I will only get B2 at a much later stage unless someone buys me a copy as a gift.
