Super Street Fighter IV Officially Dated, New Trailer

Last year's effort proved to be a smash hit with gamers and critics alike...but you can always improve, right?

Here comes Super Street Fighter IV, and Capcom has now officially announced that it will land on store shelves on April 27 in North America, on the 28th in Japan, and on the 30th in Europe. This bigger, better version of SFIV will boast new characters, new stages, new music, new ultras, new online features, new bonus rounds and oh yes, even rebalanced gameplay. The new characters include Cody, Guy, Dee Jay, Juri, T.Hawk and Adon and Capcom may reveal more before the final launch. We know Japan will be getting a Collector's Edition although we're not sure if North America and Europe will receive the same treatment. A few new trailers have also hit the Internet and here's one of them to keep you salivating for the end of April:

If you missed out on this fighting game in 2009, you have a second chance to rectify the situation. Arguably the best title in the genre this generation, Capcom really rejuvenated this severely ailing franchise and now, Street Fighter has reclaimed its rightful position among the elite. We wouldn't have it any other way.

Yup, seen this over at the snk site. Do you guys have any intentions of posting the anime trailer up? That, to me was so much more epic than this trailer.

luv all the trailers of this game.

But I hope they don't put another gay song in the op of the game I remember when I played the game for the first time...that song doesn't fit SF.

Haha they were probably happy (high) at the fact that they finally completed SFIV and went "OMG let's put a happy song in the game" haha!

Anyway, that song is horrible....I couldn't believe it either lol...

i hope the new stages are indeed new and not repeats (day/night jungle, boat stages come to mind). Or maybe have character specific stages brought back along with their music. In any event, it'll bring back some longevity to the game.

I couldn't really get in to this game, a friend of mine brought his copy over last summer, we and another one of our friends played it a couple of times, but we just couldn't figure the controls out and the booklet thingy didn't help much either... so we kind of gave up on it. Still looks cool though.

On a sidenote: Ben, where is the "Heavy Rain 4 days challenge has begun" article I expected to be out today.

Meh, I wasn't impressed with SFIV in any way shape or form. Don't get me wrong, I like the design and direction they took it but it's just not for me. Plus, I have Tekken 6 so I'm not needing any other fighters.

Ai. Tekken let me down in the ghost battle system. . . Loved erthang else but that. SFIV is mad hott, day one purchase with the super version, since it boosts new storylines etc. Just got a problem with new characters and them not being there in their future past installments.

I haven't forgotten. Street Fighter II Turbo Hyper Fighting was the only one I bought for SNES. Never bought another until Super Street Fighter II HD Remix and Street Fighter IV. Capcom can do it all they want. I won't buy them.

I have SF4, hope Capcom doesn't expect me to buy a totally new SSF4 just becuase they decided to put 5 characters that were supposed to be in the game to begin with. If they sell and add-on for $10 dollars in the network I might get it. If they expect me to pay $60 bucks for this new version Screw them.

Plus I own SSF2Turbo and Marvel vs Capcom 2 am fine with those.

I use to play fighting games when there were still arcades. PCs are still around for my RTS/FPS fix so yes, people still use computers for games.

I wanted pretty badly to get back into fighting games last year so I picked up BlazBlue and SFIV. Stopped playing both the same week I picked each of them up. If I ever have a lull in my gaming schedule (doesn't look likely this year, but hey, you never know) I'd be tempted to give either another go. Street Fighter II back in the day was practically a religious experience for me. But I dunno, for the time being at least I seem to have moved away from the genre.

It's like sports (just more painful...)

The fighting genre is the toughest to keep up with. I'd say it's like baseball (you need to LIVE it and keep up with it)

A lot of SFII fans never kept up with the genre so now they find it hard to actually be good at the games.

Anyway, looking at another 9+ score from psxe

capcom have been a big joke the last 2 generations.
all their ps3 games suck, all their ps2 games besides re4 and the DMC series suck.
capcom made brilliant games on the ps1, than they got greedy and the quality of there games sunk.
when your changing your most popular IP from a survival horror to a action game just to increase sales you know your in trouble!

I hate to say this, but I think that we'll eventually get incomplete games all to hell. I mean it's arguable and I know developers have a time frame, but it can make people preeety damn lazy. "Oh, &^$# that castle, we'll add it after release." It very easy to mix up your priorities that way. What, what do you put in and what do you leave out? AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!! *dies*

Developers are more likely to start making "episodic" games, like the way valve has been making half-life "three." I think that will be a good thing for both gamers and the industry.

I sincerely hope that doesn't happen. I don't have the attention span for episodic releases. I don't even like to watch shows on TV when I have to wait a week in between episodes I just get the seasons when they release and do marathons.

i can only enjoy fighting games standing up on a arcade machine.
kinda like racing games, i wish i could get a arcade machine in my room.
maybe PD will make me one when GT5 comes out ;)
only fighting game ive ever really enjoyed though is mortal kombat.
saw the concept art the other day and while it looks cool im a little disappointed because it never really needed changing.
all we need is another mortal kombat deception with good story driven conquest mode.
than another MK shaolin monks game.
shaolin monks is by far the best MK game, id rather that first but it would be extremely risky since not many people liked shaolin monks.
and midway arent exactly in a position to take a risk like that, one bad move and WB will kick them out the door quick smart.
PLEASE just give the fans another MK deception.

Sucks that I bought SF4. I should have waited. They should allow you to turn in SF4 for 75% credit toward SSF4. This isn't exactly my favorite genre but the new characters look pretty cool. We'll see.
