Taste The Past During God Of War III?
God of War III marks the end of the trilogy, which means the entire story of Kratos should be wrapped up with a pretty little bow. ...okay, maybe the bow will be black and dripping with blood, but you get the point.
However, what if you're new to the series or you missed one of the previous two entries? Or even if you played both, you may have forgotten important parts of the plots, leaving you a little confused entering the third entry. Perhaps this is the reason why SCEA will be including a recap of sorts in GoWIII; as revealed by a Spanish source as noticed by Examiner.com, SCEA will get you all caught up at the start of GoWIII. According to SCEA's Stig Asmussen, this recap is indeed designed for new players to insure they're not in the dark, and he also hints that such flashbacks won't be entirely in video form. This means we might actually replay portions of the older games and I'm suddenly reminded of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night...remember when you played as Richter at the start and fought Dracula? So maybe we'll do something similar when GoWIII kicks off. This probably isn't a bad idea, especially considering that any finale to a series is pretty ineffective if you're not familiar with the entire story. We're not talking about long and involved role-playing plot lines but that doesn't mean the story isn't satisfying. It's dark and quite engaging.
We certainly appreciate the thought but then again, we also hope they don't harp on the past too much. This may very well be Kratos' final adventure and we want to see as much new stuff as possible!

Adding certain scenes, if done correctly, can enhance your gameplay of the newest product.

To ME, that's not worth it, and sounds like a cop-out to make the game longer using old material. But I suppose they know what they're doing and GoW never disappoints.
I do think however, that people will be upset if they finish GoWIII in eight hours and two of those hours are old material.

Definitely recaps are good. Even if it's just 10 minutes covering the plot, or reminding the people who hadn't played in a couple of years.

I have a feeling with GOW3 this wont be the case. Wether you have played the previous 2 or not this game will be absolutely amazing. The recaps will be a welcome addition, assuming it doesnt take away from the original scope of GOW3. Basically I'd be un-happy to see GOW3 become a decent length game with 1-2 hours of recapping of the first 2 games. When t could have been much longer minus that stuff. I highly doubt this happens though. My guess is it will be implemented very well.

i really hope that does not happen because it breaks the indestructible feeling of the game, without kratos i cant see GOW continuing and having the same epic feel.
kinda like what insomniac did with resistance 2 they really pissed me off with that.
take all the good parts about resistance, through them out, take all the bad parts and bring them over and theres resistance 2.
honestly insomniac were you even listening to your fans?
i can picture the meetings now.
"what gameplay changes can we make to resistance?"
"well, these parts our fans really liked about the game especially the weapon wheel."
"the weapon wheel?"
"yes, coming off our forums the fans really liked the idea of it, being able to switch on the fly."
"ahhh so theres our answer, the weapon wheel is out, rinse, and theres our new game."
"GENIUS! see sir, this is why your head producer and im a mere messenger boy!"
"yes, i know now back to your duties"
"YES SIR!"

not to mention TAFE is sucking me bone dry.
though, think about it there finishing off the series, this is suppose to explain why there are no more greek gods.
suggesting they got wiped out, surely if there finishing the series and finishing off the gods surely kratos got to go too.
if he survives than its not really the end of the series, kinda a half resolution.

"I believe the implementation of the recap of the first two games of this series is a good idea. It gives people that only owned an original Xbox last generation, and until recently only had an Xbox360 this generation, but now have bought a PS3, the ability to witness what they had previously not experienced since they were without a PS2."
It was a difficult undertaking but I fixed it. Where is my cookie?
