Retailer Confirms GTA: Episodes From Liberty City For PS3

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City

Update: Sony has just sent over the official press release that further confirms this. Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City will be available on the PS3 on March 30. You will be able to purchase it on the standalone Blu-Ray disc or on the PlayStation Network in the form of digital content. Yay!

Original Story:

It has been rumored many times before but this time, the retailer listing isn't a mistake.

Over the past few months, we've found various pieces of evidence that pointed towards an eventual PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, exclusively released for the Xbox 360 at the end of October 2009. But each time it popped up, it was quickly shot down as a mistake. This time, however, SimplyGames.com has confirmed their listing for the game, as found a few days ago by PlayStation LifeStyle. As you can see in that first link, the confirmation came in the form of an e-mail from SimplyGames.com:

"We can confirm that the details on our website are correct and that this title will be released on the Playstation 3 in the near future. We have had to remove this title from sale for a short period. As soon as this title is available to pre-order we will email you with all the details so you can get your order placed as soon as possible."

Well, it's a start. Rockstar has yet to deliver all the downloadable content to the PS3 version of GTAIV (although at this point, not enough people seem to care) and any extra stuff for GTA on the PS3 is good news. As for Grand Theft Auto V, which is already starting to gather momentum, we'll let you know when any information arrives.

This may give me a reason to get GTAIV. I know, I know, it absolutely crazy that I skipped the game when it came out but now it will all be fresh and I can play through everything without having to wait for months in between.

I want this. The stories are supposed to be good, and I really enjoy the GTA gameplay. A game that scored as high as it did here doesn't simply fall off the map after a couple of years.

I would say it's about time, but I just really lost interest when I saw all the "Xbox exclusive" commercials for the DLC all the time. It was more than obvious that it would eventually come to the ps3, but from Rockstar, I'm looking forward to Red Dead Redemption, it looks Awesome.

Honestly, if all PS2 games get remastered, I'll definitely buy them all. It's like 15 weeks of quick work to get half a million sales. It's definitely worth the trouble. Most time are probably spent on trophy support rather than "remastering".

Who cares? This should have been available for PS3 the sametime it was for Xbox 360. But it shows you how much money truly matters. Made it exclusives because they were getting paid exclusive money for it, then ported it to PS3 because it didn't sell enough on Xbox 360. And even if they did sell enough to pay for development cost, which should have been taken care of with the exclusive money, PS3 owners shouldn't give their money to people who do business like this. Love you Rockstar, but these episodes won't be getting my money, and on top of that, GTAIV gameplay is boring compared to what gamers have beeb spoiled with since its release. GTAIV is still classic in my eyes.

Great news if it's true, however, I hope this isn't all Rockstar meant when they said they were going to be 'very good' to PS3 owners this year. It would take more than this.

I'm more interested in their future products than this DLC, but I'd still give it a shot probably, and any HD remakes of previous installments God of War style I would be first in line for.

Well game developers and publishers usually don't have too many projects in their hands at once time. When Rockstar said they will be good to PS3 exceptionally, it's probably just the Agent and the GTA DLC.

The DLC, they might add a bit of stuff to it to make it "seem" fresh, but that's about it.

Well I believe gaming are hot topics for students in junior high, high school and even college. Imagine a kid runs up to their friends going, "Hey, guess what I just got... GTAIV DLC for PS3!" *lame* The hottest topics are gone, and the wow factors are next to nothing. Even the heat from last month, MW2 is dying down.

This DLC will sell to the collectors, that's about it.

Meh....

We'll probably get the DLC 3 months before GTAV releases. So I will just wait for GTAV and hopefully Sony doesn't allow M$ to bribe their way into timed exclusivity again.

Besides I think the PS3 is in a lot stronger position now than what it was at the release of GTAIV and I feel R* will think twice before excluding the PS3 in so many areas as they have done previously.

not that i care though, TBOGY was decent, better than GTAIV but than thats like saying a kick to the face is better than a kick to the balls.
TLATD i did not care for, again better than GTAIV but you know the story.
IF this releases in the drought, ive got pleanty of cash, and there is nothing else to buy than maybe ill pick it up if its cheap....... 40 bucks cheap.

$40 for 2 year old DLC huh?

As someone who recently purchased GTAIV and is still playing through it for 100% completion, I'd liked to throw another rock on the pile of "meh".

Ya it's a fun game, but something about this having drawn out for SOOOOO long just really seems to kill it.

In the end, MS paid $50 million to Rockstar to bash PS3 sales on this DLC, instead of what they intended to do (bring in more 360 users).

I really hope MS gives up on paying off companies for this timed exclusive b/s.

Maybe I'll buy this in another year when it hits $20.

MS weighed the pros and cons and decided spending 50 million to keep the DLC as an exclusive would result in a larger profit on their end than if they hadn't made the DLC a timed exclusive. It's just business, there isn't this hidden agenda where MS has meetings about finding ways to screw over the PS3 crowd.

LV , what exactly is timed exclusivity ? It serves no purpose other than screwing over the rival console's fanbase .

I am not saying Microsoft has some hidden agenda , I am questioning their business tactics . If you can't buy proper exclusivity after paying half the game's total budget , you need to find better negotiators because that's just a bad deal .

Actually it serves a far greater purpose than screwing over a competitors fan base. It creates a monopoly for a certain time period thus increasing sales. PS3 fans have every right to be upset with the decision Rockstar made in allowing their DLC to be a timed exclusive, I'm not disputing that.

Go ahead and question MS business move in regards to the DLC but I really don't get the whole argument that it's wrong simply because it upset the PS3 crowd.

If by "screw over the PS3 crowd" you mean that they paid to not have the product released on the only other competitor's console so that people would buy more 360s, then yes, they screwed over the PS3 crowd.

When MS spends hundreds of millions on buying out exclusives (timed as the may be), instead of having invested it something more business-worthy, like R&D for the ROD, they have in fact screwed over their own customers, as well as Sony's. There is no question that they're in the business of making money and ONLY money. But sometimes I wonder, if they are even doing that. Would they be doing worse, if they hadn't bought out timed-exclusives? Probably not. But then again, neither would I. My 360 wouldn't be anymore reliable, I'll tell you that much, and I'd still take my PS3 exclusives over water-down multiplatformers any day.

To all those saying its too old, I could be playing Vice City now, how old is that? Yea I know MS screwed PS3 owners but just get over it, its business out there and most of you woulda been taking MS' checks without a second thought if you were in the business. Honestly I don't see the point of microsoft paying for exclusivity that doesn't last long. Do they really expect that the time exclusivity will make people go out and buy an xbox 360 just for those episodes? They might as well buy out the episodes for the xbox 360 only. If not, then they're just wasting their time and money.

I know that the "Only on Xbox 360" ad's swayed some friends of mine to getting a 360. The 50 mill that Microsoft paid was probably good value what they got, it gave them some exclusivity and propaganda to use.

Yeah, $50 million dollars down the drain. From what I hear, the DLC hard disk wasn't a big success with Xbox, don't think it will be any different with PS3. With so many games coming out, I personally don't have interest in wasting money on an old game. GOWII, Heavy Rain, Red Redemption, and maybe Bioshock 2 are the only games seeing my money until that New Tranformers game comes out which I am hyped up for.

To be quite honest I didn't really enjoy GTAIV as much as San Andreas and probably will not be getting this DLC, and no it wasn't and isn't because the game is on the 360 or that they got the DLC first, as apparently that seems to be the only reason some people here believe one could not absolutely love GTAIV or the DLC. It in fact has everything to do with the fact that all of my favourite aspects of the game were removed to add in obnoxious driving mechanics and pretty water.

When and if Rockstar ever decides to bring back aeroplanes, parachutes, properties, garages, and possibly turf wars and character customization then I will gladly pay for one to two year old DLC without a second thought

I don't understand, I have always loved the series ever since the first one but they cut too much out of san andreas when they made this one seems like two steps back and one shinny step forward

I rarely care about DLC -- it just comes across as a blatant cash grab with subpar content in most cases. I've heard good things especially about the Ballad of Gay Tony, but at this point I just don't care. GTA IV was great, but it was LONG, and by the time I'd finished it I'd had more than enough of it. These expansions expand on something that didn't need expanding.

Oh, and it's lame Rockstar is releasing this on PS3 SO long after 360. They went timed exclusive for the cash -- fine. But don't expect me to pick this up now and essentially reward you for taking the money and making PS3 owners wait.

Since the DLC is a year old I say paying 15 to 20 bucks is a fair price to pay. Like I said before I hope Rockstar doesn't pull the same crap with GTA V and DLC is only available to the 360 for a year.

And seriously M$ gotta stop this timed exclusive crap when you have to place a month long timed exclusive on TMNT re-shelled you got too much money to throw around.
