After Burner Climax Winging Onto PSN, XBLA This Spring
Although we've been missing the long-running and critically acclaimed Ace Combat series this generation, the PS3 has still seen some solid flight titles, like IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey and Heroes Over Europe.
But those were historic flight games featuring planes from yesteryear; what about some bad-ass modern jets? Well, if Ace Combat won't come to the rescue, at least we can turn to the After Burner series, which will be returning to the PS3 and Xbox 360 via the PSN and XBLA this spring. You probably haven't heard much of the franchise because there have been only two entries released in the past 15 years; one was After Burner: Black Falcon for the PSP (released in 2007) and the other was a relatively obscure arcade game called After Burner Climax (released in 2006). The latter will be coming back in digital download form and PSN users will also get the benefit of Black Falcon, too. According to GameSpot, After Burner Climax will give you three different planes and 20 stages, along with that nifty "climax" ability which lets you go all Max Payne-like in the air. Basically, you can slow down time for easier missile locks and evasive maneuvers, which of course means you aren't looking at a simulator. Just up and go.
Sega's AM2 team, responsible for the likes of various classics ranging from Out Run to Virtua Fighter, is at the helm for Climax. We're getting a ton of content for the PSN these days but this one is kinda unique. It definitely adds some flyin' flavor, you know?

the controls were a little difficult to get use to and were slow to respond but it was a decent game.
gota take what you can get because its slim pickings these days for fighter jet games.
developers come out with a game thats the same as every other and bi*** because it does not sell.
it never ensures to them that maybe if we made a game of a genre thats lacking in offerings they may have more success.
for example FPS have so many freaking titles out there and almost every day theres a new one announced.
but there is no car combat games, or decent platformers or decent fighter jet games, or decent survival horror games.
im 99% positive rebellion would of had more sucsess making a game of one of those genres than a crappy shooter like rouge warrior.
developers want to extract no effort what so ever and sell through the roof you can only do that in a deserted genre.
so what do they do?
they go and make a game in a genre thats so flooded it would have to be jesus freaking christ to sell well.

I'm tired of all the FPS... reeeeeeally tired.
i miss good unique games (AC, unsharted, LBP, etc).
in fact, i don't know which games to buy anymore they all seem the same or boring at least.
fighting, racing, flying, multiplayer (offline), etc...
i find that those categories need some improvement.
anybody has suggestions on which games one should have (in these categories, and not mentioned above), i welcome them...
but i really think these categories are lacking...
