The Last Guardian Website Opens, Screens And Videos Included

We may not have a release date yet, but at least know we have a place to go and drool over a bunch of media.

It's a little curious that we haven't heard more of Team ICO's The Last Guardian since it was revealed in 2009 but now, we have good news for everyone anxiously anticipating this very promising PlayStation 3 exclusive. The Japanese website has gone live, and it already boasts a bunch of tasty screenshots and two trailers that will leave you breathless. Granted, you've already seen these videos if you've been paying attention to game news over the past year - one is from E3 2009 and the other is from TGS 2009 - but even so, they're definitely worth seeing a few times over. I think what's going to be most intriguing isn't necessarily the platforming and puzzle solving (as unique and engaging as I expect it to be), but the contrast in size between the kid and the creature. That may seem like a trivial surface observation but imagine what can be done with this on an artistic level...a level with which Team ICO is quite familiar. Considering that ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are two of the most respected titles in history, one has to assume that The Last Guardian is headed for eventual immortality as well.

But we still need to see some actual gameplay, and we'll also need a fact sheet that outlines the foundation; i.e., the mechanics and controls. Hopefully, now that the site is up, that info won't be long in coming.

These guys make some really funky and unique games. This should be a PS3 exclusive to be reckoned with. Their other games had decent controls and gameplay, so TLG shouldn't be any different.

All i know is that these guys are the real deal. Super creative, incredibly unique, and utterly breathtaking. It's like a Salvador Dali given a blank canvas: you know when he's finished, it will be aw inspiring.

Team ICO are the masters of their trait .

Awesome. I've re-watched the video that I got from PSN too many times so it's good with some new stuff to dig into.

Excellent! This is easily my most anticipated game of the generation. There's a handful of close 2nd's, but this game tops my list. I just loved SoTC so much, I can't wait to see what Team ICO has in store for us next.

What kind of games does team ICO make anyway? All I know is that everyone say the Shadow of the Colossus and the ICO are excellent games, like a piece of art.

Just reading about the gameplay doesn't seem all that interesting, (I guess I need to own the actual game to appreciate them). I'm definitely interested in trying them out. I'm just wondering why such highly scored games aren't selling multi-million copies?

"I'm just wondering why such highly scored games aren't selling multi-million copies? "

*Points at Uncharted 2*

They didn't get a shetload of advertising months ahead of release like MW2. I hadn't even heard of ICO since a few years back. I only got it when I found out that it was made by the same peeps who made SotC.

It is a shame. Unfortunately, even with proper advertisement, i think such a great game like Unchartered 2 still would've been overshadowed by MW2. A game like MW2 didn't even need advertisement to shatter all those records they just broke.

It's a shame, I understand that the FPS genre is widely popular, but it really is mind boggling how such a ground breaking title gets overlooked.

I say with great shame,i Never played ICO or SOTC but i heard A lot of good things about them.Sony's advertisement team must have been on vacation because apparently A lot of people never heard of it either.Honestly i learned about SOTC watching that movie "Reign over me".

Anywho I'm glad the website is up,gives me the fuzzy feeling inside that somewhere in the world people are actually moving forward on a potential masterpiece.

Then Sony's marketing team DID do their jobs. SotC didn't appear in Reign Over Me by accident.

These games are very SNES-like
They know how to introduce elements that are FUN (gameplay wise)

But they don't stop there, they give you an underlying story which CREEPS up on you and you realizes as you journey on, how deep and how PURE it is.

Really love the "ICO" series....(I really suggest anyone who missed on ICO to get that game)

PS: Is it just me or does Demon's Souls and ICO share some awesome similarities?

All I needed to see was that screenshot of the chain going down into the dark hole for me to know that this would be my GotY. Will it actually win GotY? I doubt it. There's too much stuff coming out this year that are overhyped marketing machines, and we know how Sony usually markets Fumito Ueda's games (which is sad). Still though, if I had a fast forward button to take me directly to this fall, I'd be pushing it right now!

Oh, and BTW, I'd kill for a ICO/Shadow of the Colossus Collection on the PS3 (ala God of War Collection). Make it happen, Sony! =D

I doubt you still have the game, but if you do:

There are indicators for where the Colossi are. One of these will lead you to a cliff face which you can climb to get into the area where the first Colossus lives.

The sequel to two of the most amazing game experiences I have ever had. I must have bought a dozen copies of each game, many for gifts and two for myself... If they release a HD remake like they did for God of War, I will be pre-ordering and standing in line on day one to pickup... It might be an one person line but, there will be a F#$%!NG line ;)

i really hope the rumored collection does come to fruition because i still have not had a chance to play either ico or SOC.
i want too, but not enough to spend 200 bucks on a ps2 and another 50 or so for both games.
cant wait for the last guardian though the E3 video looked amazing though im in serious doubt that it will be out this year.
knowing sonys style they will announce a release date in a few months than delay it 15 times between that and release.
