New Killzone 3 Details Coming Soon?
We haven't heard much about Killzone 3, despite a few unsubstantiated rumors. Perhaps some actual news will arrive in just a few weeks time.
You may have heard the rumors that said we'd hear info and details for the third Killzone installment in February, and although neither Sony or Guerrilla Games has come forward, that speculation persists. For instance, multiple sources have stated that we just might see KZ3 at the end of this year and furthermore, as indicated by Platform Nation, Killzone3.com is being docked by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and this site expires on October 8, 2010. If everything starts to churn on the development side of things, might we actually see Killzone 3 for this year's holiday season? If it does, it'll compete with Halo Reach, which of course will be a huge title for Microsoft's Xbox 360. The last we heard about KZ3 is that a former Insomniac Games lead designer had signed on with the Guerrilla team to help out, although it wasn't confirmed that he was actually working on Killzone 3. Then again, what the hell else could it be...?
We'll certainly be on the lookout for any information this month, but we will also remind you that L.A. Noire is gonna receive a pretty big unveiling in this month's Game Informer. That's a game you'll want to learn more about, right?

I say best would be 2011. Too many games coming out this year, they should save some for the next. I say Uncharted 3 coming 2011 too.

About a year after it was released, I feel like KZ2 was a very good game that was just a few degrees off from being exceptional. The controls took a lot to get used to; I didn't feel enough connection to my squad mates (I blame Rico for this); the AWESOME premise and story of the game didn't get enough in-game screen time; the environments needed a bit more variety.
I'm nitpicking here -- I enjoyed the game a lot. But I think it was such a huge task getting a game that technologically advanced off the ground that most of the developers' efforts were spent getting the game engine right. Now that they have that framework in place, I would think KZ3 is going to be a very smooth, polished and engaging experience.

I've never been much of a FPS fan, and picked up Killzone 2 just coz I was getting it for a good price. And boy, was totally hooked on. Amazing gameplay, environment and overall immersion.
The only thing I did not like about the game was the penultimate level where you and Rico are stuck on the balcony, and hordes after hordes of helghast come after you - just before you take on Radec. Almost gave up the game at that stage!
Apart from that one annoyance, everything was just superb about the game. Gimme more Killzone 3 now...

And the final level was a bit of an anti-climax after that...Radec was ridiculously simple to work out (although that was a relief after a week of trying to clear the previous level)!

why are we at war?
why were the higs kicked of vetka, why did they choose helghan as their new planet.
there is so many unanswered questions, there was no story in KZ2.
2 more team work.
ITS A WAR.
YOUR A SERGEANT.
figure it out!
3 constant change of enemies and tactics.
as ive said many times each level of KZ2 is a repeat of the last.
how you kill all the enemies in the first level is exactly the same as how you kill them in the last level.
the whole game is take cover, pop, shoot, take cover rinse and repeat.
4 different environments.
KZ2 goes from the city, to the desert, to the mine, to the city.
the desert and mine missions were the best part, there too short.
you spend 90% in the city and 5 % in each other areas.
they need to make it even and constantly mix up your environment.
5 environmental kills.
make the world much more interactive, and destructable.
if theres 30 enemies in a building, instead of shooting each of them, shoot the main pillars and the building comes down.
6 more flank points, let the player take the battle wherever he wants.
in one of the levels theres a part where its a narrow corridor with 100000 higs taking cover, instead of going down there turn right go through the door, follow that around and you end up behind them.
i want more of those opportunities give the player a chance to flank the enemy instead of being forced to stay in front of them and cover than shoot.
7 more weapons.
and this time dont create a kick a$$ weapon and restrict it to one mission. thats just stupid!
8 more enemy classes.
9 improve the friendly AI.
i have lost count the amount of times i have revived a friend than he dies 3 seconds after i revive him.
also allot of times friendlies will just sit there like a stunned mullet while being shot.
perfect reference to that is the final battle, ricco gets shot and just sits there like a stunned mullet.
or a grenade will land underneath him and he just sits there nlike a stunned mullet.
10 i have to revive my friends, so why cant they revive me?
11 online AND offline co-op.
12 bring back the offline skirmish from killzone 1
give me a moment and ill think of a few others.
though i cant see this being announced till E3 at the earliest and i sincerely doubt it will be out this year.
people are forgetting GG were still working on the engine after KZ2 released.

#2 What are you talking about?
#3 I thought that's what FPS are.
#4 Did you play too much R&C?
#5 Wait for Crysis 2 for this, you're thinking way ahead.
#6 This one I agree, the area should be bigger if we're in a war.
#7 Yea, KZ2 really has too few weapons.
#8 I don't think it's necessary but it would be nice if there's some flying Higs infantry or invisible Higs.
#9 They're not that bad, beside, if your ally are very reliable, won't that take away the fun?
#10 That's why your allies are dumb.
#11 You're not the only one.
#12 The skirmish is already there.
And GG are still working on the engine of KZ2?
They better not make it their top priority because gameplay should be placed before graphics.

if anything not enough.
and GG were still working on the engine after KZ2 released.
if you watch the 4D trailer they released on the PSN listen to the documentary they mention there were a few effects they wanted to add but were not able because of time restrictions.
dont know how long it would of taken them to make the necessary changes, probably only a few weeks so they would probably be done by now.

Personally, and I'm prepared for your thumbs down guys so hand'em over aplenty - personally I found Killzone 2 to be highly overrated (I've never played the first one). To me it was just another alright looking regular linear FPS with slightly annoying controls.

"Sons and DAUGHTERS" of Helghan"? There could be something there...Also, I hate to bring up Halo, but I loved the multiplayer stats at the end of each level. Who killed who the most, with what weapon, ect...Just more little things like that. Also, some character customization would be much appreciated. On a side note, I will absolutley own any of you on multiplayer. PSN=sohio.
One more thing....Dickshots. This is something I've wanted to see for years in a multiplayer game. It's just so satisfying to pull out a pistol, kneel down, and shot someone right in the crouch.

I'm really into it, I actually thought it would be something entirely different. Either way I enjoy it.

However I'm way more excited for some KZ3 than L.A Noire, at this point mainly because I don't have much information on it. But I know KZ3 is going to be epic it just has to be they're upgrading an already awesome engine to add stuff that didn't make the cut the first time around and also some other minor issues. But something I would like to see is the return of the alternate fire for most weapons and that badass knife from single player added into the multiplayer, imagine having that knife and using saboteur, I'd never stop playing, there were times when I was using saboteur for a whole match, all I could here was we got a team killer. Now imagine the fun if you had knife melee or maybe its just me. As far as destructible enviroments I like the idea but only in limited use, because of how its abused in BF2 its going to get boring real quick its almost as bad as spawn camping, after they removed the spawn protection from KZ2, Killzone died for me. So thats another thing that needs to be adressed not only in killzone but in all shooters.

And for Killzone 3 I want them to work on the story which wasn't explained properly.
One might even wonder why ISA and Helghast are at war.
