Bad Company 2 Might "Easily Pull Addicts Away From MW2"

Almost from the moment Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 released, EA has been promoting Battlefield: Bad Company 2, often saying it can and will compete well with Activision's quality blockbuster.

But a source besides EA has now proclaimed the highly anticipated sequel to be even better than most expect. According to a recent hands-on preview by PSM3 magazine (as cited by CVG), Battlefield: Bad Company 2 "feels more spontaneous and varied than your average shooter," which is a statement many gamers can get behind. After all, we often complain about a lack of ingenuity and diversity in the FPS genre, although we should remind you that both MAG and Bioshock 2 aren't your everyday, run-of-the-mill first-person experiences and they are both available now. Anyway, the article goes on to say that the abilities and classes in BC2 are outstanding and really separates this multiplayer mode from the rest of the crowd; in the end, they say: "For our money, the best Battlefield yet is a better online game than Modern Warfare 2." That's a fairly bold claim, especially considering the insane popularity of MW2.

"DICE have produced a game that could easily pull addicts away from Modern Warfare 2's moreish paintball sessions."

Those who played and enjoyed the original title will be glad to hear this, and if you never played the first Bad Company, you should still be excited about this sequel. DICE has proven their worth several times over this generation; the BC franchise isn't their only claim to fame and we shouldn't forget about Mirror's Edge. We want a sequel to that, too, guys.

Battlefield Bad Company has NO prone position. This is completely rediculous considering this is a shooter. What kind of shooter doesn't allow the players the prone position. I like Battlefield except for this. I didn't buy the first Battlfield for this reason and I won't be buying this one because they didn't address this retarded issue. Every forum I've seen mentions players desiring the prone position and begging the developers to please put it in the game. Still no change in the sequel. Kiss my @$$ Battlefield!

This was told to me by the manager in a local Game shop by me.

There is no prone position as there is more than enough coverage ie bushes and buildings to hide in anyway. Also if the snipers were in a prone position they would not be able to be spotted and people would be moaning about getting sniped all the time and not enjoying the game.

i played MAG and it was ok it was ok and is online only which sucks.
played bfbc2 demo and it is pretty dam cool controls are not like cod mw2 so you have to get used to it just like kz2.
bfbc2 will be awesome when it gets here.
kz2 is pretty cool too the online gets pretty dam hectic at times but is pretty cool.
do not like online only games it is lame.

i saw no prone when i played the demo but that is ok with me.
in mw2 you get alot of people going prone in a place that you cant see and camp there plus the name does not show like when yoiu are crouch or standing that makes it harder too see them also. as i remember in bf2 your guys have a blue icon enemy has none or maybe red if you are close.
i didnt really like uncharted online that much the scope or zoom was not that great on the guns.
i do not think you can go prone in kz2 either and it is a great game also.
who cares about it does not make the game a non plyable game it just make it a little more strategic from where you shoot it does not give someone an advantage like in mw2 where a ton of people do it.

What Imagi said.

In that original article, a bunch of you misunderstood the same comment as the commenter stating BFBC2 had better graphics than U2.

What he did say was that having better graphics than U2 was going to be hard but that he believed BFBC2's vistas were better (read that as probably larger and more expansive).

Wow, that's a pretty bold claim to make. Be interesting to see how that works out for them. AS for me, I only rented the first battlefield, and though it was a great game it was too short to justify wasting more money on it, I imagine I'll give the second one a pass as well. I've got enough shooters in my library to keep me happy for a while.

Looks decent and I'm sure it will be. However, it will be insanely tough for me to spend anything close to full price on this when you consider that maybe 2 of my "millions" of friends (I'm sooo popular. :-D) will get it, 99% of my friends already have MW2, and it's really tough to beat killstreaks. They won't "defeat" MW2 in terms of sales. It's a fantasy to think that.

Eh, I tried, but it really does feel like the old BFBC1, the controls I can't really stand, the grphx are better, and the explosions/destruction is still fun but for only so long. This might be a bargain bin for me along the road but BFBC1 left a sour taste in my mouth.

I dont know that it will pull addicts away from MW2. It will get me because of the success of the first one. And it is not the same as the first one. The controls have weight to them now, making it feel more human rather then letting you turn and pitch effortlessly. Also unlike MW2, and BC1, bullet drop has to be taken into account for sniping. The grapics i dont think are better then U2, but maybe getting very high.

I put the MW1 back in and realized just how much better that game is...it just felt so much better, i think alot of people are going back to the original. MW2 was a huge let down

Oh theres no way this looks better than Uncharted 2.The trailer for MEDAL OF HONOR, now that can compete ,if its gameplay.

I have really never been a fan of the Battlefield games sadly. I just don't like the gameplay. Though I did enjoy the story in BC1 and BC2 may be a rent for me just for the SP. BC1 had some hilarious characters.
(lol truck-a-saurus) I really like MW2 for the simplicity of the MP, especially Create-a-Class. That is the best feature. For me, any game that doesn't have that is a deal breaker. Create-a-Class, FTW!! :D

spoiler.
KZ2 ends with alpha squad sitting on the steps of visari palace with a million hig ships about to land and rip them a new one.
resistance 2 ends with nathan hale dead and the threat throughout the whole game dead.
resistance 3 could easy continue the story as the chimera are not completely wiped out, but KZ 2 left many more loose ends than R2.
though i dont want either, id like to see new IPs from both studios.

MW 2 and BF BC2 are 2 different types of FPS. What I mean is that MW 2 is a fast and furious, insta spawning fight that is AWESOME.

Battlefield BC 2 is more of a tactical FPS that requires a lot more teamwork, but it is fast and fun too. Where MW2 you can get out of battles every 15 minutes, sometimes you can take up to 45 minutes or more in Battlefield, depending on how good the combatants are. But there are alot of questionable bugs in the game too. Not that MW2 didnt have it's share. heh.

I love both of these games. I will have both. Tired of MW2 now anyways. Played it so much. LOL.

End of Line.

Bad Company 2 does seem a bit deeper then MW2 but its not going to pull the MW2 addicts away. its barely looks better then Bad Company 1 and plays almost the same. I played the demo for about an hour and was over it already. Its not going to beat MW2 and i'm saying this as some one who doesn't really even like MW2 all that much.

Besides all that, the graphics aren't anything to write home about. There is still screen tearing galore. that was my biggest gripe about the 1st one.

Why the hell cant the developers make a game that doesn't tear?

It pulled me and away after I saw more gameplay, the only way it couldn't compare KZ2 is graphically. No one has seen the SP which boasts vasts gorgeous scenery, if Battlefield isn't for you thats totally fine, but MW2 is loosing players for a reason. Bad Company has pulled most of my "friends" on my list right out of the full game to play the Demo. BC never had all of this polish everyone is obsessed with, its the environment, the Best Sound Design in FPS gaming, and Destruction 2.0. MW2 was pretty polished but lacked a lot of that BC2 has.

Only liking a game for MP makes it sound not quite as good, I mean MP should be a blast but the SP should be just as good. Create-a-class is pretty nice, but again, its only for MP and that just doesn't hold up as well. Flying a Chopper and wasting chumps with a Vulcan Mini-gun FTW!!

I am already starting to get bored with Uncharted 2's multiplayer as its no longer fun. Maybe when they throw in new maps. I think the only thing BC2 probably has over MW2 is the vehicles. I seriously go crazy on that ATV, not to mention the full game will have jet skis, nothin better than killing in the water XD. This game seriously has what it takes to be #3 in online game played. I say #3 because as you all know a certain Microsoft game is set to launch this fall....Great game overall though.

The other thing is, MAG forces you into squads, and you bond. With BFBC1, there was very little to no bonding. MAG was the first time I became part of a realy clan with other people in it!

So yeah, I might rent this for the single player and a little online mp, but it looks like my $60 might go to MAG. (i've been renting MAG because i was gonna save up for BFBC2)

BFBC2 is easily one of the best online multiplayer games created. It is not just another lame run and gun, it has so much more depth. Squads and the class system have been thought out and work well together, rewarding teamwork and helping create intense battles in an ever changing environment that make the adrenaline pump through the veins and force you to keep your wits about you more than any other game has to date.

If you play this game selfishly you are missing out on so much that it has to offer. The audio has to be heard with surround sound and a nice sub, simply a must!

Yes we all enjoyed the demos but those are free.

It comes down to whats worth the cold and hard cash at crunch time when faced with a FULL GAME thats the issue.

BF BC 2 its got good sound and gives the subs a workout.
It has TEN players versus TEN players.
The game was protect two crates and as such it feels like the same thing with a few minor upgrades.
Killing in a helicopter is fun at first but gets old fast with only TEN enemies to try and kill.

MAG has great sound and gives the subs a workout.
It has 128 versus 128! players.
The missions and maps are new since its the first one of its kind.
Getting 25 kills from an airstrike feels epic.
The same when running to an objective and theres wall to wall enemies.

I say screw demos and try the FULL game before deciding on what to KEEP.

M.A.G.

Have to say that I have played a few games where everyone else was just a feckin sniper, but it is a demo and newb's and nobs are a plenty, but then I just reconnect to another game and problem solved.

Always be in a squad, you can spawn on any of your squad mates and get straight back into the heart of the battle.

I have played about 30hrs.on the beta and nothing about this game sucks. There were a few bugs but that's what a beta test is used for.And they fixed everything. Now I'm playing the demo and I'm here to tell ya It kicks A in every way game play perfect, graphics beautiful, sound very, very realistic like one poster said run it through your surround sound amp and sub and brother your in a war zone YEA!I know they left out prone position but with the kill cam i would see were your laying and shoot ya in the head anyway. So get in there and fight, fight fight cause that's what you ll be doing better keep your head on a swivel or you won't have one. There ain't no waiting around in this game like some people imagine. The full game has blackhawks with mini guns hanging out the sides cobra uh-40's tanks, bradleys,atvs,jet-skis,boats jeeps, fast attack vehicles, uavs and more. And in the gun dept.it's fully stocked with everything your little destructive heart desires machine guns, shot guns, pistols of every type, rpgs. What more could ya want.I know i sound like i work for dice but I'm just a fan.Don't let let know one talk you out of this game it's that good.

at least in PC Platform, im sure BFBC2 will easily pull addicts away from MW2.

This is going to be a problem as there are squads of 4. So if 8 of you join 4 of you can only speak within that 4 player group. So if your part of a clan you cannot speak to your other members of your clan. Unless you on the PC you can type to all. The 360 has party chat the PS3 does not.

The vehicles are good as it provides a bit of variety. So far though when I have joined a sqaud no one speaks to me via the mic so 4 people are playing as individuals and not as a 4man team/sqaud. This is the only things thats putting me off getting it.

Remember you can also issue squad orders by pressing select. Spot some enemies? then press select when they are in your sights, their position will be highlighted and announced to all your squad mates. You can request ammo and health along with issuing objective orders this way.

After playing the beta and now the demo, my faith in the Battlefield series has been restored! I play with people that I actually know so the squad system is cool, but I do wish that you could push an "announce" button of some sort to talk to your entire team..

As far as graphics go, MW2 does seem to have more clarity to it, but then it doesn't have dudes flying choppers and bringing down entire buildings..
