Designers From FFXIII Have Moved On To FF Versus XIII
If you're wondering how things are going with Final Fantasy Versus XIII, you'll be happy to know that development appears to be moving right along.
Firstly, Square-Enix said late last year that we can expect an official unveiling of more media and information in "early 2010" and some estimates said these details would arrive as early as February. Well, we're in February right now (if you hadn't noticed), and furthermore, we have a promising quote from a recent interview with a European source about Final Fantasy XIII, as noted by Connected Consoles. They say that now that development for FFXIII is out of the way, many of the designers who worked on it have moved along to help out with Final Fantasy Versus XIII. As a result, the creation process for the game "has really picked up" recently, which is good news. We've only seen some amazing-looking trailers for this title in the past; we still aren't sure about the gameplay or in truth, anything that's even remotely important. It's a PlayStation 3 exclusive but we have no idea when it might arrive, and until we can learn more about the combat mechanic, we're not going to get too excited.
I know a lot of you are really looking forward to it but in the meantime, it seems you'll just have to make do with FFXIII. That's not an altogether unattractive proposition.

If they do make an announcement that it will be multiplatform...they will be known as the BIGGEST FATTEST MORONIC LIARS the universe has to offer, even though they really are already.
If it does go multiplatform...I'll be happy to know that at least the director/developer of it Tetsuya Nomura didn't want it to be multiplatform and most likely the big fat idiot of a president Wada forced him to do it just as Konami forced Kojima to make his franchise for the 360.
For those of you who don't believe that Nomura the designer/director/developer of FF Versus XIII doesn't want this game to be exclusive to ps3 - check this article out:

How would announcing this is multi-platform differ from their announcement that FFXIII would be multi-platform? FFXIII was announced as a PS3 exclusive and talked of as a PS3 exclusive for literally years before they came clean. SE have already been seen as liars due to their reversal of their stated 'exclusivity' with FFXIII. This would be no different if it happened.

I wouldn't totally rely on a 3 year old article to rest assure that final fantasy versus XIII will remain exclusive to the playstation platform just because nomura said so. Personally, I don't trust "anyone" at square enix. Their deceptive credentials and hypocritical statements convinced me enough to believe that money is their number one priority, with gamers/fans come second (or third).
For now, don't be too suprised that square enix will pull another big suprise announcement of the game going multiplatform at microsoft's e3 2010. If that happens, this just proves what I have said about square enix 6 sentences ago.

They seem to be beating their chests with the revelation that they get "exclusive DLC" too in the form of.......wait for it......
Avatar clothing! Whoopiddy f***ing doo! Don't we get some HOME content as well? i guess one could argue that the HOME stuff is better.
Also isn't that Xbox "bundle" just a copy of the game bundled with a plain white, mediocre Xbox?

The thing that i focused on that bundle announcement is that they made sure to let consumers know that its coming with a STANDARD version of the game.

cant understand why they do that, just announce one game than release it than announce another.
all their doing is prolonging the development time and making people loose interest in the game.

Sorry my inner child just jumped forward and attacked the keyboard in a fit of ecstasy.
As most people here know I have been waiting for ages for any little titbit of information on this game and even knowing that production is picking up because designers shifted is enough to make me squee with joy. Keep the news coming as this is my most anticipated game in years.

Keep this up SE and you mght win some hearts back.
Honestly I'm not the biggest FF fan not at all like some of you, (scarecrow, World, even Ben and Arnold), but I was very muhc looking forward to FF13 getting my PS3. I just wanna say the reason im more upset than a lot of the hard core fans being more forgiving of the situation, is I was expecting to have a massive exclusive title that would redefine the genre. Doesnt sound like we're getting that as of late, and with some reviews coming through as well. To those that are HardCore fans, Your loyalty is unsurpassed and your faith and like in the game i completely understand.

I'm not entirely convinced that the game will remain an exclusive until nomura (or kitase or anyone from square enix) reiterates exclusivity.

Square enix has no affiliation to fans' expectations, which I'm sure most of them grew up playing final fantasy on playstation.
Developing a game half finished in favor for the lesser console in order to deliver an "equal" experience on both platforms was disappointing enough. But an xbox 360 only bundle?

Anyways, I might be expecting a bit too much from this game, seeing my expectations rose even higher after FFXIII lowering on the important games ladder in my head.
So if it fails or goes to xbox, almost the same... I will like, don't know what to do, steal an xbox and light it on fire, put the video up on youtube, get a couple of million views and say it was all because S-E screwed Playstation owners by not making both final fantasies exclusive...

That's 2 bundles they/we've now lost out on, the 250GB COD MW2 bundle, & now the FFXIII one too.
And......either of those 2 bundles would have sky-rocketed up the PS3's sales immensely too.
Sony really needs to think ahead and start making pro-active offensive moves here, to "checkmate" all of M$'s unscrupulous moves against the PS3. WTF????

“Obviously, what we have to do is make sure that our business plan is adhered to and we have the amount of money to invest in games rather than investing in stopping other people making games and progressing. So I would much rather that we were investing money into making sure that we’ve got great R&D and we start producing games like LittleBigPlanet, rather than paying other people a huge amount of money to stop people playing their product.”
Sounds like a remarkably enlightened approach, I'd rather Sony did this than anything else, it has brought some of this generations defining games to us.
A year or so ago, the same guy from Sony also said (specifically in regard to GTA DLC):
"One thing to remember, nothing is ever exclusive. Things get wrapped up for a period of time for a large amount of money and if it's a strategic decision by competition to do that then we have to live with that."
And before anyone jumps in and complains that Sony did so spend money on a timed exclusive with Ghostbusters. No, they didn't they stepped in to be the publisher of the game in Europe so that it would get published there. The original publisher, Atari Europe, was purchased by Namco, and the game was not on their agenda for Sony consoles. Sony bought the publishing rights for the PS2/PS3 versions in Europe allowing them to release it as a timed exclusive there since they were the publisher. Had Sony not stepped in the game would more than likely not have seen a release in Europe.

I "DO" like what Maguire has to say, but there's got to be other things that Sony can do proactively to foil the ways of the evil empire.
I think just beating MS to the punch and getting those 2 bundles could have been a small Streetfighter-4 style kick to right where MS's brains are located, in their big brass testicles.
(psychologically speaking, of course)

you see the problem with that way of thinking is that while Sony benefits themselves by enriching their brand with their 1st parties, they loose many of the people who supported them for the once exclusive 3rd party games. Nintendo makes some fantastic software but their consoles as a whole stink because there are virtually no games outside of the few Nintendo puts out each year. I don't want Sony to end up like Nintendo, in fact you would think they would know better as MS is trying to do to Sony, what Sony did to beat Nintnedo.

I know what you're saying, and buying exclusive bundles isn't near as annoying as buying exclusivity with a game. So I do see your point, I am just happy that someone this generation is at least trying to take the high road.
@Bandit_King
Nintendo's problem is specific to themselves. Sony is far more open and accommodating to third parties than Nintendo ever thinks about being.
