Rumor: New Forgotten Sands Details
We really enjoyed the first Prince of Persia to come our way this generation, which is why we're always searching high and low for fresh info on the upcoming Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.
Slated to release this May - alongside the movie, I believe - this one has remained a bit of a mystery since its announcement. However, according to a poster over at NeoGAF, we may have some baseline details for you. Although the magazine in question isn't named, it would make sense that a publication would have a feature on Ubisoft's new project; the timing for an unveiling seems just about right. If the facts are correct, the game will be a sequel to Prince of Persia: Sands of Time from last generation (which we kinda already knew) and perhaps most interesting is that although Elika will not return, we will get a new partner. Her name is Razia, and she will apparently control the "elements/magic." And rather than the one-on-one duels from the last PoP - which admittedly got a little tiresome - the developers have returned to fighting multiple enemies at once; lots of enemies, as more than 50 may be on the screen at any given time. The Prince's powers will include the now-standard Rewind, Fire, Air (reach new platforms, swirl winds, etc.), Earth (i.e, fix a broken pillar), and Water (freeze or unfreeze).
This all sounds very interesting; it's almost as if they're infusing some RPG elements into this one, although we know it'll play like a standard, relatively straightforward action/adventure. Oh, and we also know the cel-shading is gone, too. We'll let you know when more info arises.

Anyway, we will see if Sands can stand on its own merit... with such an incredible line-up of games dropping over the next 4 months gamers may skip this one, or torture their wallet further at their own peril...
I know that I simply cannot get more than the AAA exclusives I have saved up for so I may let the sands of time slip through the hour glass on this one for now :)

I dont think the game has anything to do with the movie. but the movie is called "the sands of time" so if anything it will have more elements from that game, not this one.
It's not going to be anything like the Transformers, or Iron mans, or anything like that!

My only question is, is this a direct sequel to Sands of Time, or a sequel to the trilogy, and will it take place after The Two Thrones?

Going back to the "original" from PS2 is best. It had the better narrative and was the most coherent. That's what I want to see them do, a truly coherent game.

i just hope the tedious puzzles from the last PoP are gone.
im glad they went back to the dark gritty feel of the game, i did like the cell shaded, fantasy styled game but not as much as the original style.
i hope and im sure ubisoft will go back to that, probably next PoP but for now im glad its gone.
thats what they should do make 1 PoP as the old style, and one as the new cell shaded style.
