Recent GT5 Footage Displays Visual Improvement

Gran Turismo 5: Prologue came out quite some time ago, so you might be wondering if you'll see a significant graphical upgrade when you finally pop Gran Turismo 5 into your PlayStation 3.

Well, according to the latest bit of info and media provided by GTPlanet, the differences can already be seen in a recent GT Academy 2010 build. The screenshots clearly show rougher and more defined grass, tire ruts, and even individual pieces of vegetation like dandelions and weeds. The surface of the track also appears sharper and clearer with more detail from tire tracks, and that addition of flying debris will certainly make things feel even more realistic. The site provides you with a few more examples of the upgraded visuals and hopefully, we'll be able to see such examples in actual video at some point in the near future. Sometimes, it's difficult to believe Polyphony can continue to make the visuals even more impressive than they already are, but whenever we see the latest, we're once again blown away. And besides, we really don't want to get GT5 and say, "damn, this isn't any different or any better than freakin' Prologue, which released years ago!" We know the developers haven't been sitting on their laurels - the recent delay has supposedly been attributed to adding in 3D compatibility plus a few other options, like that nifty GPS feature - but even so, we still like to see progress.  Doesn't everyone?

The most recent evidence says GT5 will likely release this fall or at the latest, just in time for the holidays. However, until we hear something concrete, it's all nothing more than rumor.

That's a HUGE difference. Very pretty. I don't play racing games but I know a graphical leap when I see one.

just release the game! by the time the game is out ill have saved enough money to buy an ENZO ferrari and go drive a supercar for real and i will no longer need the game!

on a side note: i was finally able to score a ps3 today after i had a bluray drive failure a week ago. had to drive 140 miles round trip to get it but it was well worth it. now i can finally try that HR demo i was planning on downloading the day b4 it released when my 80 died. woooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!

After the FFXIII PS3/Xbox screenshot incident, it made me think how many of those screenshot comparisons out there are actually real and not photoshopped. In this case, the graphical enhancement is believable, considering it's an exclusive PS3 game.

GT5P had the boring looking grass, they fixed it and by adding gorgeous details to it. I hope they also update the audience at the side of the road. When you look at them closely, they look like a character from a PS1 game.

Most people are only complaining because they keep getting revved up by Sony and the Publishers...

If we were told 18 months ago, "right gamers you can have GT Prologue now and you will get GT5 in two years", we would have sucked it up and got on with it.

It's the fact that we are told, it can be released anytime, it's coming in 2009, then it's coming in March 2010, then it's coming sometime around August 2010.

You can only cry wolf so many times before it annoys people. I looked at GT Prologue and thought, "will I get this or wait for GT5" and thought the same for Grid and thought the same for Dirt 2.

If they say it's not coming until the PS4 I'm even fine with that as I wont be expecting it anytime soon and I can get on with planning my purchases based on something more than vapour.

I don't see why people thumbed you down, it's absolutely true. How can you realize SO MANY times that "Oh, you know what, we can't release it after all, sorry for getting your hopes up."

If you don't have anything nice to say, Polyphony, don't say anything at all.

I thumbed you down because I don't see the big deal with it.

Gran Turismo has never been a title that followed a punctual timeline.

It has however, been a game that has unmatched quality.

GT5 will be no different.

Plus, where has there ever been a rock solid date out of Japan??

Then they should keep their mouths quite about a release date and release it whenever they want. I am a man of my word if you say am releasing it on this day then do. If their uncertain then don't bullshit people, and just say we'll release it when its ready.

Well Gordo I can say that unless you live in Japan, you should not have been bother by the delay. & they haven't only worked on GT5 you know, also that Gran Turismo for the PSP, apart from the GT5 Prologue you mentioned. Not mentioning the demo that xnonsuchx pointed out we also have. I think it'd be smart to just put away $65, or whatever your currency is, enough to buy the game, & store it for whenever the game gets released, & buy it happily knowing that it's the best game that it could've been, rather than a half-assed game, that'll be followed by a sequel year after year.

This probably will be the only GT on PS3 console, (unless one comes at the end of the ps3' life) and it's better they do everyting to make it the best as its always been.

As of right now nothing can compare to what GT5 is shaping up to be, in terms of racers!

war devil was announced at E3 2005 if i remember right and we have not heard boo since.
that is suppose to be THE game to push the ps3 to the limits.

Yes, it doesn't keep me awake at night or anything like that but my finances are finite, so I don't want to buy Dirt 2 then a few months later have to buy GT5.

If Sony is delaying it for a technical reason and not a marketing reason then that's fine.

We are just asking for a bit more transparency in their development timelines.

If you read the reviews for GT5 Prologue (March 08) many say good game but you might as well wait for the full version to come out!

Well we know now that it's over two years between drinks. Some of us are thirsty!!!

Spot the difference between the two images.

Mountain on the left has dissapeared. So has the display of race position. Oh and whoever is driving felt braver the 2nd time round as they are traveling at 80 in 3rd rather than 70 in 2nd. :)

I noticed it. Maybe the location of Fuji Mountain(i think thats the missing one) was placed in the wrong "geopgraphic coordinates" when seen on the last few corners of Fuji while racing. So that would be my guess as to why the mountain disappeared.

Or maybe those trees/brush in the second pic are just blocking it?

Amen to that. While GT5P offers barely a fraction of what the full game will hold, there are a hell of alot of nice cars, in alot of nice colors to be had whilst building your garage.

PD did tell us that there'll be some transfer of data(as you know) so we're only gaining.

Hell, to the general viewing public, alot of GT5P players still save up 2 million dollars and continually buy F1 cars as a sort of investment. Provided they let us keep all of our cars, selling excess F1 cars gives us a chance to start out rich...if we want to.
