Resonance Of Fate Set To Launch One Week After FFXIII
Maybe you were planning on playing both Final Fantasy XIII and Resonance of Fate and you figured it wouldn't be a problem. After all, there just has to be a significant gap between the two launch dates here in North America, right?
Wrong. Role-playing fans already have hurting wallets due to the likes of White Knight Chronicles and Star Ocean: The Last Hope International in February, and next up, Final Fantasy XIII releases on March 9. Then there's Sega's Resonance of Fate, the modernized sci-fi action/RPG that features massive gun battles rather than epic sword fights. According to Joystiq, this anticipated RPG will be on US store shelves on March 16...exactly one week after FFXIII. So this means that if you're a little short on cash or time (or both), you may have to choose between the two role-playing titles. The good news is that despite the fact the games fall into the same genre, they're still two very different experiences. Furthermore, there should be a playable demo of Sega's effort on the Japanese PlayStation Store, so at least you can check it out before making your decision. We kinda like the idea of a firearm-focused RPG, although we can't be assured of its quality until we actually sit down and play it.
Well, at least you won't have to shell out again until the end of April, when Square-Enix comes at you again with another RPG, Nier. If you can find the time, though, it's gotta feel good to be a fan of this category of games right about now.

As for, NIS America's PS3 exclusive Last Rebellion, the last I heard it was releasing on Feb 23.
All this JRPG PS3 love is just too good to be true.
What's even better is the extremely short turnaround time on all these JRPGs: Last Rebellion, End of Eternity (Resonance of Fate), and Star Ocean International were all released in January in Japan, which puts the U.S. release at a mere two months for all these games... unheard of in the PS1/PS2 days.
Heck, the longest conversion time was for WKC, which came out early 2009 in Japan; and we all know FFXIII came out a short four months ago in Japan.
Like I wrote previously, the turnaround times for U.S. release this generation has become increasingly short for most games. It goes to show you how important the U.S. market has become compared to the shrinking Japanese market.

Looks like FFXIII won't attract much US & European newcomers for PS3. Game sales will rely on those that bought their PS3 before 2010. This makes me so angry.

i mean FF has always been bigger in japan, it caused a massive spike when it came out.
sure it wont have the impact it could but there is plenty of games in the US that will.
tell you the truth even if M$ did not get all this exclusive advertisement, i doubt it would of had that much a effect.
FXIII has had allot of bad publicity and i think thats really going to effect it.
$E made a bad game, there relying on their company name to carry them through, i doubt that will happen.
their trying to pull a bungie, but what there forgetting is there no where near as popular.

mmmm interesting i might check it out if i have enough time.
FFXIII and neir are a big no no to me after what $E has done to its fans, and to its series they will never be seeing another cent from me.
well, except for edios games i just hope $Es tight a$$ style does not brush onto edios there making some of my favorite games.
HITMAN 5 FTW!

only $E game i will ever buy is kingdom hearts 3, and it would have to be ps3 exclusive and it would have to blow me away before i would think of buying it.
i dont buy games of developers who are so lazy they cant be stuffed creating cities because its "too hard"
there are thousands of people out there who have lost their jobs like pandemic, sony london who would kill to have a job, they would kill to have the opportunity to create HD cities.
but for $E? nahhhhhh thats too hard!

This game is very much turn based, but has a bit of RTS mixed in. You plot a course and run along it but there are different elevations and cover spots to keep you out of range from enemy attacks. You can attack multiple times per turn for scratch damage and then follow up with explosives for direct damage. Also you can surround an enemy by forming a triangle around them which will let you execute a special attack where all 3 characters attack at once. You can also change between weapons on the fly and can switch which enemy you attack all in the same turn. You have plenty of time to plan but once you initiate your turn everything moves very quick.
The game also has towns (lol) and you find keys to unlock different portions of the many levels and areas on a grid based system and can do so as you see fit, so the game is not linear. There are also NPC's to talk to, shops and you upgrade your weapons by equiping silencers or different gun stocks (think RE4 but deeper). This is a very traditional RPG but has some new ideas that make it fresh. Well thats my take on it anyway.
