Nier Trailer Features An Epic Battle With A Mammoth Shade

Nier is shaping up to be a very intriguing action/RPG by Cavia and Square-Enix, and we're starting to see more in the way of footage as we inch closer to its April 27 US launch date.

The following is a new exclusive trailer featuring the main character, Nier, and the extra large foe known as a "Shade." It's absolutely massive and reminds us of the Colossi in Shadow of the Colossus or perhaps one of those huge city-size beasts in Resistance 2. Nier valiantly battles this mammoth demon but eventually needs help from his partner, Kaine, who evidently finishes the beast with an epic downward slash from the skies. Remember, Nier is on a mission to find a a cure for the Black Scrawl, a disease that's rapidly engulfing the world and has even afflicted Nier's daughter. Here's the trailer:

If this interests you, make sure to check out the game's official site, which will continue to be updated over the next few months. The world is anxiously anticipating Final Fantasy XIII but Nier is a very different animal and might appeal to different people. We'll definitely keep you updated.

omg........

Im soooooooooooo sick of people calling "copy of GoW"

ffs people, designers draw inspiration from ALL sources, half of what being a web designer is about is taking ideas from other people!

Just because one game came out before the other, and they might LOOK similar, doesn't mean its copying it!!!!!

So now any hack-and-slash is either a rip off of God of War, Devil May Cry or something else... That is criminally narrow-minded. I thought the gamers stressed that videogames were about expressive freedom, creativity and art. Was that claim only meant to argue against anti-gamers like Jack Thompson? :S

Does it even matter. When they first introduced this game and talked about multiple versions I quickly forgot about it. These videos showing gameplay remind me why I forgot.

The fighting looks outdated and the voice acting sounds a bit strained. Plus she obviously cut that thing down the middle but it didn't split in two, all we got was a blood gush. Pfft.

I dunno, looks kinda cool to me - 'cause I'm a sucker for a pretty face! Still disappointed that we're not getting the PS3 version, but instead some Xbox port. I suppose this is another one of those where we'll have to wait for the reviews to see if our version looks like crap. Sigh...

I just read the new Gameinformer on L.A. Noire and got to say that I am 100% looking forward to this game come Spetember. It sounds ground breaking with how they are taking real people and putting them into fully animated 3D models.. the pics look impressive and they got to be because solving crimes requires you to 'read facial expressions' and with a script encompassing around 2,000 pages.. that has to be a a good long story. The gameplay sounds real cool the whole detective reading faces and actions to try an solve cases and its not slow paced where your just rummaging around searching for clues and performing interrogations, theres plenty of action to go around, to my understanding its sounds free roaming like GTA but im not sure... anyways ya peeps should check it out it was one of bens posts that he mentioned to check the next Informer. and im glad I did thanx for the heads up! its got me real hyped. I know what im saying is off subject but Nier totally sucks-ass. (dont forget to thumb me down ;) )

if you actually put some effort into FF XIII and made it the game it should of been i probably would of been interested in this.

Im not short sighted, so i actually think this game looks okay.

Squeenix lost my vote on FFXIII, but they do have talent. Hence the reason why i WILL DEFFINATELY be buying FFvsXIII, KH3, possibly FFXV??? etc

I will add this to my watch list.
