Second DLC Pack For ACII Arrives
The first piece of DLC, "Battle of Forli," is now available for download, and the second has just received a date.
Ubisoft says it'll be called "Bonfire of the Vanities" (uh...no relation to the book or the movie) and it's technically Sequence 13, so it'll fill in the remaining missing spaces in the storyline. The Sequence will include 10 total memories that follow Ezio's attempt to help Machiavelli in freeing Florence from the oppressive thumb of Savonarola. Here, Ezio will have to go after specific citizens who once took cues from Savonarola; obviously, we're talking about more assassination missions that will likely require a variety of different approaches. This will hit the PSN and Xbox Live on February 18 (that's like, today) and cost $4.99, the same price as the "Battle of Forli" DLC. And yes, you will indeed visit a few new places in "Bonfire of the Vanities;" this includes the Palazzo Medici and Santa Maria dei Frari. One of the most impressive elements of Assassin's Creed II is the setting; the intricate detailing and attention paid to every minute detail, so any new environments will be much appreciated by the fans.
Although some still say Ubisoft should've included both these DLC packages with the game when it launched last year, we have to remind you that ACII was absolutely one of 2009's best. You really can't take much away from the team's achievement.

ACII is 10X's better than ACI. The first game was monotonous by the 4th memory. This game is COMPLETELY different. Every memory sequence is different and fun, and the locations are great. Then there's the whole "truth" and "glyph" side of things.
I probably wont buy the DLC (I'm still not a fan of DLC), but the game is great.

it takes at least 16 hours or so to complete.
has THE BEST storyline in a game EVER! yes even better than MGS.
heaps of collectibles to find which will keep you busy for hours, and the glyphs are really intriguing and rewarding, unlike those pesky feathers.
even has a few side missions for icing on the cake.
AC2 is one of the fullest experiences you could ever ask for.
much more than that 7 hour KZ2, or that 6 hour MW2.

i would be pissed if i had to pay 40 for burnout and then loads more for dlc. but i paid 14 for burnout and a mate gave me the dlc free. lifes good.
i'l pay 40 for AC2. but i'l wait til they release it with the dlc, or til its cheap that adding the dlc isn't mcuh over 40. Ben is probably gonna be disappointed but i cant afford it, plus i've got fallout3, unchrtd2 and mgs4 to keep me happy. then there's heavy rain, gow3...

It's just a blatant ripoff!
So I'll be doing my part boycotting this sh*t by waiting till any of these cheating developer's games are under $10(used) in the bargain bins.
And believe me, with over 1,400 games in all of my collections, I can certainly wait these unscrupulous shysters ou, & for a hell of a loooong, loooong, time too!

If the dlc is genuinely created as an add-on to a game, ie it is something they came up with afterwards which they kick themselves for not including originally, then that's fine.
Cutting out segments of an existing game just to sell them to you separately is a slippery slope.
Part of me wishes I'd waited for the GotY edition and got the whole thing for £40 rather than paying £40 for 95%.

it was content removed from the game before its release. It wasn't new content that they created after the fact to give us more after already giving us everything they could have. They are ripping people off!

If you paid attention no name you would have seen the article Ben posted around ACII's release that stated the content that Ubisoft plans to sell us after the fact IS CONTENT CUT FROM THE MAIN GAME BEFORE ITS RELEASE.
Its a rip off like buying games, playing them then returning them as if they owe you free games. Pathetic.

No, the bitchin' "WON'T" stop!
I'm not one of the sheep who let people or company's walk all over them, & I'll always cry "foul" against any of the a-hole's who try to screw anything out of me.
I never said anything about the game being bad, or against any "TRUE" expansion packs, they certainly serve a purpose for the greater good of most games.
But I AM complaining about developers who steal content out of a game that originally, would've made a great game even better, just so they try to sell it back later = RE, AC2, FFXIII, to name a few.
Ubisoft didn't go out of their way to create extra content, they took out part of the original game just to sell it back as DLC, and exactly what this very DLC is right now.
And FYI, you're also sadly mistaken once again if you think I'm even coming anywhere close to 1% of your usual negativity!

Oh and while we're at it,
I distinctly remember you bragging quite a few times in other threads on how you buy games & then after playing through them, you take them back within a week & get all your money back.
So tell me, how, exactly, have you been doing your f*cking part to reward any developer???
Self-righteous & smug, you're definitely not!!!!!

Do you even believe 1 ounce of your own rhetoric crap for even a second??? Your logic is nothing more than all smoke & mirrors, and pure unadulterated bulls*it!!!
How exactly do these developer get any cash at all, when you return your games & get your money back??? I'm sure EB/GS/or any other games store, gets all their money refunded back from the developers too, once you've returned your game cheating scam.
So as a honest gamer, I have every right to judge you, and I "AM" judging you, plus...you should also be judged by everyone else here too, because you ARE a common thief.
And you're no better than the other low-life's that go into a store & then hides a game in their jacket to steal it without giving 1 penny to any developer.
So now, by your own f*cking words, your credibility is sh*t!
Instead of crying out all your sins on-line at PSXE, go to confession instead, you really need it.
But until then, there will never be any blessings for you here.
At least, not any made by this "Saint".

People understand DLC is here to stay but they can voice their opinions and help shape what this so called "business model" ends up looking like.

I don't mind the Bioware method of giving you the dlc free if you purchase the game now but you pay for it if you buy second hand. As long as the dlc is superfluous to the primary story.

DLC is a mixed bag. Some of it is actually new content that the creators created after the fact, but it seems with most multiplatform games, there's a trend. Content cut from original, for what ever reason, game design, lack of DVD space etc. Then sold back to us later.
That's like a shoe salesmen selling you a pair of shoes without shoe laces then saying, "hey, how about these shoes laces. only $4.99 extra." The shoes can still be worn, but they are incomplete at the time of the initial sale.

I think everyone here accepts that "REAL" DLC, is a good thing.
But what I, myself, don't, and won't, & will never, accept is that a unscrupulous CONniving developer takes content out to scam us later by selling what was originally already in that game, right back to us for more $$$$$$$$.
That's paying a $60 for a game, and then finding out some thugs have kidnapped your content. So now you have to pay the game-nappers another $5/$15 more just to get your baby back home, all safe & sound.
The FBI should include all game-nappers on their "Most-Wanted" list!
Or better yet, send out all the "Saint's Row" crews out to pop some caps in all their jive asses.

Ubi said they took the segments out of the game to help the pacing and make the story flow better, right? Well, lets look at that a bit.
A huge feature they promoted before the game was released was the Flying Machine. Notice that you only get to use the flying machine for one short mission unless you buy the DLC. The logistics of this make no sense. Leonardo would have wanted to test the flying machine as much as possible because Ezio was the only one brave/foolhardy enough to jump off a building with it. Using it only once in the game makes the story flow less. The story makes much more sense and flows better with The Battle of Forli DLC because he gets to use the flying machine again, which makes the conversation between Leonardo and Ezio more logical instead of a big buildup to one short flying session.
The Battle of Forli explains a bit about the Piece of Eden they discover in the previous segment. With TBoF removed from the game the Piece of Eden doesnt seem as important, when it is actually a huge part of the climax of the story.
Bonfire of the Vanities continues to show just how important the Piece of Eden really is by having Savonarola control important/powerful people with it.
Without these two sections the story barely shows the significance of the Piece of Eden and leaves quite a bit of the story out. There is not better flow in the story without it.
If Ubi wants my money in the future they need to stop the BS. I might consider buying DLC if it actually is an addon to the game, not the missing pieces they took out for no good reason.
Vote with your wallets, gamers, and this kind of behavior will stop. How would you like it if Polyphony released GT5 with 600 cars and put the other ~400 out for DLC? People would be furious, so why should we be ok with Ubi removing core parts of ACII and trying to charge us more for it?

I like it, I like it!!!!!!
Maybe you should really get into it once again & further the character & storylines.
Who knows, maybe you could get it placed on the PSN's Digital Comics for the PSP page, & then even become the next great "Stan Lee" over at Marvel Comics too.
(If so, I'd like a free 1st copy, & autographed too, of course )

I don't even think you can argue this, that's just not true.
In the first game all you did was pickpocket, fight, and save the ladies....over and over and over until you got to assassinate someone. Then you went to the next memory to rinse and repeat.
Fun, but monotonous.

I agree with him, though, that it didn't lend it self to replayability, like the prequel. But, I actually like the first one. And, like the prequel, it was very atmospheric, and it had incredible attention to detail, the sounds, the beautiful scenery, the architecture, the clothing and voices from the npc's, and it had some of the best animation to date. Although Ezio, like his ancestor Al-Tair, walked around like he had taken a giant dump in his pants (I wouldn't know what that's like), and cornering and maneuvering really felt like driving a truck, but his swaying, balancing, stumbling, fighting, and parkour seemed incredibly life-like.
So it was fun to see for the first time, and even in the sequel. But the story totally cheesed me out. It kind of felt like a mixture of Davinci's Code, Scooby-Doo and the Bionic Six at the end, especially after they did their cult-like mantra before eagle-diving from tower one by one. Right before the master whore jumps off, I was like, "you are not going to show her jump off in that dress and veil, that would be rediculously funny". Thankfully, the camera panned out, blocking the view of her jump with the tower. And the ending boss fight was pretty silly, too...a boxing match with a pope? Lame. But, at least the rest of the game was worth at least a play through to solve and collect everything.
