Don't Miss The Yakuza 3 Demo Today

Normally, we don't dedicate entire news stories to a single demo appearing on the PSN but we figured Yakuza 3 deserves a little extra attention.

We know that because it launches here in the US on March 9 - yep, same day as Final Fantasy XIII and one week before God of War III - it's going to get overshadowed. Furthermore, as it's the first entry on the PS3 and the past couple of installments on the PS2 didn't exactly tear up the sales charts, it's unlikely that many are anxiously awaiting the release of Yakuza 3. However, we should remind you that this PS3 exclusive got very high review scores in Japan; most critics agree it's the best title in the franchise thus far. And if you want to get a taste of the atmospheric GTA-style street brawler, you should download the demo today. If it's not on the Store just yet, it should pop up within the next few hours so keep checking back. The story will also be a focal point and we just can't wait to tear into some thugs once again; it's kinda like a modernized take on Streets of Rage or Double Dragon, only with a far more advanced battle system, and an intricate environment to go along with it.

You should at least check it out. Although we can't tell you to pick this one up ahead of FFXIII or GoWIII, we know some of you will really enjoy this type of game.

another game you can compare Yakuza would be a modern River City Ransom.

OH! I never thought about that comparison to RCR but it really is like that. That does explain why River City was one of my favorite games on the NES.

SnipeySnake I'm glad you are going to give this game a chance ! I can't blame you if you don't buy it next month but try to get it at some time.

btw I'm kind of sad =S...in the demo they cut 2 minigames the jpn demo has(trivia arcade game in the sega club and the hostess bar)... well at least there's still the karaoke game.

I played the japanese demo a year ago. The games is a beast. But still like so many others it shall be put on the back burner for the giants FFXIII & GOW3.

#1, thank you ben, for reminding me about the streets of rage series. streets of rage 2 was a great game!
#2, i also think the last guardian will run into the same problem this year, just like ico did. ico (and shadow of the colossus) is still one of my favorite games. even then was a game of the year contender but it was overshadowed by the likes of halo, gta III, and mgs 2

good, something to do while i'm doing nothing today. i've heard a lot of good things about this series,so i am justifiably intrigued. my tax return is supposed to be deposited tomorrow, and apparently i'm getting an extra 400 of my own money back. maybe all these titles coming out will make their way into my loving arms.

I have it downloading off of the Europe store right now. I'm quite pumped about playing this. I'd say it's the game I'm looking forward to most in March after God of War III (looking forward to Just Cause 2, too).

I might check this demo out and see what other demos are out there... beat Dantes Inferno 3 times and finished the gates of hell to get that platinum I thought it was a real cool game alot of people blew it off... gonna get my GOwI platinum here soon (need to beat in under 5 hours which I saw is possible one guy did it in 2:53:48) and play some Uncharted2 I knocked the rust off last night got my ass kicked a few times lol went like 9-11 / 12-14 / then made a come back with a 6-2 / 16-4 ect. mainly just waiting for HeavyRain though... gonna rent GOW3 and split second looks fun.

I did it in like 2:30 hours with the cow costume. You get infinite mana with it. Once you get Poseidon's rage, just use it everywhere and.... done!!! And for better results, do it in Easy

I've got the 1st one and almost had a used copy of the 2nd one last week too, but it was with out a manual, plus had some deep disc scratches, so it was a no-sale for me(has to be near-mint, include the cover art, box, & manual to get into my collections).

"Y3" is definitely another "want" for me!

Best Demo ive played on the PS3. Not because of the game as such but, because of the way it handles itself as a demo. It feels like they designed the demo aside from the game!

kareoke is absolutely hilarious.

Yakuza is march's top game for me. Loaded with details, more to do here then most games.

Now excuse me whilst i continue sobbing over the fact the PS3's top Jrpg, WKC has been put back to Feb 26th.

I've been playing it for about an hour now. Best part thus far was the fight I had with a dozen guys and midway through he pulls out a cigarette and lights it. This guy is a bad ass!
