Rumor: God Of War III Demo Hits PSN Next Week

It seems a lot of you really enjoyed the Heavy Rain demo that dropped last week, but next Thursday, you'll have to shift your focus and look ahead once more.

At least, we're hoping this is the case. We know a God of War III demo will be coming to the PSN at some point, but Sony has yet to provide us with an official date. Therefore, we have to turn to rumors and the most recent comes from a UK pre-order deal, as noted by That Gaming Site. If you check a pre-order offer from retailer GAME, it says that those who pre-order GoWIII will get "early access" to the demo, and that "as of 25th February the demo will no longer be exclusive to Game.co.uk." ...obviously, this implies that it'll be available to everyone and of course, the 25th is the coming Thursday, the day Sony updates the PSN. Now, although this only applies to Europe right now, we have to assume the demo would arrive on both the US and European PlayStation Store on the same day. It's just about the right timing and if it is indeed true that this demo will be available to download next week, we expect there will be a great many downloads. Like...many.

As if you need the reminder, God of War III is slated to hit store shelves on March 16. The other big title for next month is Final Fantasy XIII so you might have to make a decision if funds are tight. Which will you choose? Do you need the GoWIII demo before you can make a decision?

I hope not, I have played that demo to death! I'd really like to play something new and closer to the final build.

I certainly hope not. That demo is well over a year old isn't it? It has to be far from the final product. It looked decent enough, but after playing the likes of Uncharted 2 I've noticed it's not as polished. Environments are kinda bland and I hate how the blood looks (a very important aspect of the GoW series) Those just might be my picky opinions (most likely me thinks) but even so, I know Sony Santa Monica will blow us away with the final product, which is why it better be a new demo.

Then again, I'd like to kill that horse/crab in person.... no, no. Best to wait for the full game for THAT.

I think it will be the same E3 demo. Overall I liked the demo but the only thing that bothered me was the small commands on screen. Like when you have to press triangle, square etc.

Either way cant wait for march 16!

Did you ever play GOW and GOW2 cause if you did the on screen commands should not be something new. Both 1 and 2 did it very well. You should definitely play them if you have the money to pick up the collection, its only 29.99 now.

Well, actually, I did play it for a little while, however that was when I would spend hours in the game stores trying demos of games and things a good few years ago... but never owned the title specifically to play it when I wanted to. I know its a travesty, but I am making good now... for GoWIII!

That is because I skipped the PS2 generation, and lost my PS1 quite early on in its life. Life and work took over and I never came back to it, until 2006, when I bought my new shiny 60GB PS3... that was the time to re-enter the fray... and what a great day it was for me to be the fist of ten people only in Singapore to own a PS3 for the first few weeks of its Japanese release... :)

What did you think of Chains of Olympus? I thought the gauntlet was a great idea and I'm glad they have the same type of thing going for God of War III with the Cestus.

I loved it, it really pushed the PSP to its limits. I still play it to this day, it didn't feel at all like a GOW lite.

Demo?

If anyone even attempts to play this demo they should be banned from playing the game

A demo for a game this POWERFUL is offensive.

This game is a day 1 buy, no demo needed (just like Uncharted and Metal Gear Solid never needed a demo)

If I ever made a game I'd never make a demo out of it.

New people entering the PS3 umniverse need a reference point Scarecrow... you may be an old hat in the ring, but others new and fresh need to justify a purchase... remember, everyone looks at the world from a different perspective... and newbies need a fresh new perspective on how great the PS3 umniverse actually is... videos do not do GoWIII justice...

...you need to feel the power in your hands, through your controller... everything they say... is history :)

Yup, however old that demo is World, I am looking forward to playing it, and finally owning my own GoW for my PlayStation collection.

My collection is looking better now, I got rid of games that have scored below 9... so now the few games I do have are all triple A... I shall not be getting rid of those!

GOW3 will be the game that I buy out of those 2, for sure. Santa Monica has has plenty of time to make this game, GOWC being the only distraction. No distractions of having to make GOW3 for another console, so far no cut out content that we know of, no photoshopped pictures being displayed that we know of so far.... yea I`m going with GOW3.

a demo for Uncharted would have certainly helped sales-wise though wouldn't it? But Sony did do good in bundling it with the 160 Gig PS3 (proud owner) lol.

Not really, the first one had a demo and sadly a lot of ps3 fans passed on it.

For a established series like GOWIII, a demo is not needed, imo.

Almost all of the best games I've bought this generation don't have demos. That says a lot, imo.

I payed, and it never came. Today was ebays super later deadline date, so I sent him one contact. If I get nothing back, no tracking number or refund, I will open a case and send him to the Fraud circle of hell. When I get that money back I will try again from someone else. *sigh*

Like someone else previously said, the GOW franchise is established to people that have been with Playstation for years now. Not newcomers. Think about it, even MGS4 ended up having a demo.

im hoping its not the e3 demo cause i subscribed to qore two weeks ago just so i can see how great it is.if its the same as the e3 one ill be disappointed big time.even though ripping off helios head never gets old still would like something new.the demo could be 5-10 mins for all i care as long as its something bad ass and new wouldn't bother me.

I for one am all for demos of games I am deffo buying ... I use them as a way of getting used to controls, working on a sick combo(inGoW3's case) I dont see a demo being just a sneak peak of the game, they offer much more you just have to find it ... For example Heavy rains R2 to walk to me ages to get used to ... now when the game comes out I am gna be ready right away :)

I was playing the God Of War Collection last night,I forgot how amazing it was to fight the sisters of faith.

I think its gonna be the E3 demo ,but really hope that its a new one.

don't need a demo, i already played the E3 demo (only once LOL) ... & the fact is i bought the PS3 2 years ago because of God of War 3 ...

now i need to start GOW collection (PS2 versions of GOW: Finished on hard, GOW2: En cours, will stop now)

For me it would be cool to see a new demo besides the E3 demo. But thats because I've played the crap outta it.

But for those who havn't your in for an amazing treat. What a great display of video games at their finest. Its an awesome experience to say the least!

I hope it's a new demo featuring the complete game engine, the one where it's completely awesome. Hell, even if it's just the dame demo but beefed up quality, it will be pretty badass, lol. My GF will be very happy just to play it in the better quality. I think it's awesome the E3 demo is a representation of how much better it got, lol. GREAT!!

Thats funny i thought you boys in the USA would of had this demo before some of us in the UK,as i've had this demo a good tew months now by way of game i might add,still i don't think anyone wil be disappointed with what they get with this demo as it really does rocks,and looks to be just as good and if not better that the last two games of GOW and yeah i know it's a bold statement but it's true ;-)
