EA: No Dev For Online Multiplayer Can Compete With DICE
Think the Call of Duty franchise has cornered the online gaming market? Think no other title could ever compete with the likes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2? Well, if yes, EA is going all Judas Priest on you by saying quite clearly, "you got another thing comin'."
In a recent PSM3 hands-on preview of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, they said it was the "best online game" of the generation yet, and even better than the supposedly superior Modern Warfare 2. As soon as we saw this, we were reminded of EA's claim late last year, that they weren't afraid of CoD and that Bad Company 2 could "easily compete" with MW2. And now, they're reinforcing that claim by adding more fuel to the fire: according to MCVUK, EA product manager Will Graham has upped the ante yet again.
"DICE is at the forefront of defining the multiplayer and online vehicle warfare space and has substantial pedigree in this area following many years of success. We genuinely believe there isn't a developer out there that competes with DICE in this space, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is going cement that. The use of vehicles in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 sets it apart from the competition and no one else in the industry does this better.
This is also something the core are very excited about: DICE's history of delivering a multiplayer experience utilising vehicles is something that sets it apart from anything else in the market. It's also an element that fits with the increasing emphasis on multiplayer for gamers in general."
DICE is a damn good developer. There's no doubt that BC2 will be a damn great game. But how many are about to say EA's production is actually a better online shooter than MW2? Well, one of these games in question isn't even out yet, so perhaps we shouldn't pass judgment and besides, there are people who don't like MW2, believe it or not. It's great to see EA really supporting their products, though; they've come a long way since 2007.

There's nothing BC2 offers that MW2 offers twice as better (unless you count the unfair advantage that the vehicles give people)
IMO MW will always be better than BC for the fact that MW is revolutionary with the killstreaks and camo unlocks and stuff like that and there just isn't anything unique about BC IMO.

If you're referring to their sports servers shutting down than I think it's only fair you mention that or you're misleading people. I see nothing wrong with shutting down servers for a sports game hardly anyone is playing anymore.

As for Dice, they do make great games, but why do their soldier's move so slow? The BC2 demo was a bit jarring after playing a couple hours of MW. As for vehicles, well... I prefer being on foot.

Reason I say this is quite simple... for me Killzone 2 and now Uncharted 2 have been the best online experiences for me to date. I have spent countless hours on Killzone 2 and now I am getting into Uncharted 2 online. I feel their engines are amazing, and more than up to the task of doing similar if developed to do so... given enough time, if the team had included a vehicular component I think these latter titles would be tough to beat...
Now I hear you all saying, "Well, they never did include vehicular components..." That is true my friends, but bare in mind... that Killzone 3 and Uncharted 3 should remedy this... the technology and engines have what it takes, they just need to implement these options that is all... so yes, whilst BC2 does it now, it does not mean that other games or any less good at what they do online, maybe just different... that is how the ol'Wizard sees it...
Oh... and even more importantly... lest us not forget MAG!?!?!?!

ahh, thats why my guy runs around by itself sometimes. thanks man, i thought my controller was crapping out. I beat the game 2 times, i regular and 1 new game+ and still never found it. What pisses me off right now is that guild ranks take forever to level up, especially 7->8
as for Killzone 2 and uncharted 2, i find them amazing and i wouldnt change a thing about them. I dont want vehicles in killzone 2 at all because you'll just end up with halo style gameplay where everyone just goes for the vehicle and drive nonstop. as for uncharted 2 sprint button, i never found a need for it. game is amazing as is.
I have been playing white knight chronicles and MAG lately and tried going back to killzone 2. the games are so different that it takes a while to adjust. once im done with MAG and before i start FF13, imma go back and play uncharted 2 and killzone 2 again.

You're right guild ranks take forever to get to after rank 5 but I honestly just devote myself and some buds to grinding it out against the Fire Troll in the desert quest. It only takes us 3 minutes to complete the quest since we're at such high levels.
Also if you want to lvl up really fast just quest by yourself. Whether you win or lose the quest you keep all your experience, items, and money.

I totally agree. The multiplayer demo for Bad Company 2 was actually horrible in my opinion. The framerate is very low compared to MW2, & the graphics are really lacking. Didn't see much towards any type of customization & I think that the fact that EA/DICE has only allowed one review to be made public, they have to be hiding other reviews, & building the hype for this game based on Game Informers review. Just my theory. I know, I know, can't judge based on the demo, the multiplayer is glitch-proof or whatever, the first Bad Company's story mode is longer, but I doubt it'll beat MW2 when it comes to multiplayer. This'll be a pass for me.

I'm not saying that it's a bad game but it does have too may problems to overlook. And the horrible servers don't help either(3 out of 5 times host migration doesn't work!!).
I like the fact that B:BC2 is more squad based and concentrates in teamwork, instead of just run, shoot, run, shoot, run, shoot, die or camp, shoot, camp, shoot, killstreak, camp, shoot, killstreak, camp, shoot, nuke.
BTW I'm not an angry gamer that sucks at MW2, I'm not pro material at all, but also not a noob either. I am a good enough player to know when a game has broken multiplayer.
Edit:
Just wanted to add: EA I don't like the way you are speaking about this game. It reminds of Microsoft talking about how Forza is better than Gan Turismo, it just makes you look bad IMO.

i just hate it when people brag like a spoilt brat.
they just have to slice the wound open and keep rubbing salt in it, enough it enough, say its better thats fine that move on.
honestly they have been bagging MW2 ever since IW announced that MW2 will not have dedicated servers.
thats how many months? 4?
lets go with 4.
so for 4 straight months all they have been able to say to promote BFBC2 is its better than MW2, or our title will have dedicated servers.
im not a parrot. i dont need reminding every 5 minutes.
the industry has turned into freaking 8 year olds playing the willy waving game.
instead of explaining why you should play my game instead of theirs ill just insult theirs.
im sorry, at which point did politicians become game developers?
i missed that transition.

Why do you only complain about everything when you decide to post? I mean what is the point? It doesn't matter if you want to buy BC2 or not, maybe you can accept the fact that DICE has crafted an amazing shooter and is damn proud of it. If you do not care to read about how excited they are about BC2, THEN DO NOT READ THE ARTICLE.

i dont see naughty dog talking sh*t to the developers who made lara croft.
i dont see bungie talking sh*t to GG.
i dont see epic talking sh** to insomniac.
just because you made a better game than anyone else does not give you the right to brag about it and talk sh*t about others creations.
for once i would like to hear a developer explain why THEIR game is better, not why the competitions worse.
every single time i hear a developer get asked why should people buy your game instead of game x they will talk sh*t about game x and not mention a thing about their own.
only developer who has not done that is visceral, when they were asked that in reference to GOW they were quite flattered and said only good things about GOW and actually mentioned things that make DI differ to GOW.
thats what a developer should act like, professional, modist, tame.
not like a a$$ who are so full of themselves.
dan greenwalt for example.

I personally prefer the first BF:BC to MW2, mainly because of the destructive environments and the use of vehicles.
There'll always be the die hard fans for the CoD MW series and thats cool, I can just see BF:BC2 really giving it a run for it's money.

The only thing I hope they add in the release version as a separate sensitivity adjustment for the y-axis.
I found aiming on the move a bit difficult on both PS3 & 360 demos.
Planning on getting both PS3 and PC version of BF:BC2

Most of you guy in this forum don't seem to have much love for Battlefield series in general.. MW2 was a good game, it's just that Bad Company 2 is a completely different animal. A more complex one at that.
Total co-operation among your squad mates creates a whole different dynamic. You really get addicted to team play, all of you getting on a chopper, dropping down to capture outposts, while the chopper gives cover from above. Or one guy in a big Abrams tank advancing slowly, with one guy on the turret taking out infantry, one engineer fixing the tank as you progress, and one medic healing your squad as you go. As you play, you develop your own strategies on how to best defend or attack, and most people that play on a regular basis, catch on quick. And learning to fly a chopper properly, takes very little time, and once you catch on, oh man. What a rush..
Epic moments abound in Bad Company games. You just have to 'get it' and shed MW2 mentality. It doesn't take much.
Oh and on topic. The EA pr team are flapping their gums about how great BC2 is going to be, because it is going to be great.

In the demo last night I was pinned down in a building by a chopper, 1 driver and 2 gunners. They were ripping people apart around me as idiot team mates ran blindly into the hailstorm of bullets that was coming down, I managed to tag the chopper, revive some guys, then run to another building picking up an rpg on the way and blow that bird out of the sky, was freaking amazing, what a rush.
All the hours that I have put into other shooters this gen came nowhere near the intense action that I had in those few minutes.

In my opinion, I think Killzone 2 is one the best FPS I've played to date....the atomsphere, game modes, and just overall fun factor is second to none...I admit though, MAG has been taking away my Killzone time, but those are two different beasts.
Dont get it twisted though man, I've played many FPS on Ps3, 360, and PC. Haven't had a chance to try the Crysis multiplayer, but Killzone has some of the very best visuals to date and this game has been out for over a year...and for those of you that still play it (Killzone 2) there is no better way to play than without the HUD (permitting game mode.
As you should be able to tell, im not a COD fan. I DID purchase it but I was not impressed. Mag.....Sleeper game..*bows out* lol

I have read some of the development and technical papers by DICE and they should quite rightly be making a allot noise about their game. These guys have made a fantastic engine and great game, and actually do something with the genre, taking it forward.
They are way ahead of the other developers with their netcode, this is not a static map the size of a carpark where gravity somehow does not exist! This is a large open space over varying terrain. Almost every object within can be reduced to dust, the ground you walk on deformed and the sound of a tank in the next valley heard echoing as it would around you as if you were really their.
Give credit where credit is due, you ungrateful lot.

Obviously EA can't have people piloting F18s or Mig 29s given the speed they fly at without the use of afterburners which would force EA to have massively, too big, flying space. So thats understandable, but flying those fighters in 1943 once in a while is fun and no i am not a fighter whore.
I plan on buying this too soon, but thats because i have only 2 tastes for gaming, shooters, racing and MGS.

The online multiplayer experiences would still be somewhat different between MW2 and BC2 wouldnt it?
BC2 has vehicles in it, something i cant see MW ever having.
BC single-player was fun enough =D
