Heavy Rain DLC Delayed In The US
We know the downloadable content for Heavy Rain will feature new storyline angles for each of the four main characters, but unfortunately, we have to wait just a bit longer before it arrives.
As you may have already known, pre-ordering Quantic Dream's hotly anticipated title from GameStop gets you the first "Heavy Rain Chronicles" episode free of charge. However, the retailer has just updated its listing for the game, with the clear information that we won't get the episode until March 4. It says, "due to a delay by the publisher, this content will not be available for download until Thursday, March 4, 2010." However, SCEE quickly confirmed that this won't affect the European availability of the DLC on "day one," so that means only North American gamers are left out in the cold this time. To appease you, it's only a matter of a few weeks and let me just add this: I got the game about three and a half weeks ago, and on my fourth play-through, I have yet to see everything. Hell, I'm not even close; I have no idea how many endings there are, but I know I'm a long way from getting the Gold Trophy for "Seen All Endings." Therefore, while I'll be one of the first to get those Chronicles, you won't have to worry about Heavy Rain growing repetitive and boring while you wait for the DLC.
"Repetitive and boring." Geez, I couldn't have picked two more ill-fitting adjectives for this game.

To be honest, from what I have seen of the video footage and play throughs... bare with me here guys, The Mall section, I didn't particularly enjoy :(
I know it is only a small portion of the game... but the kid irritates me ... which is a problem... being unmarried and not having kids of my own I can't empathize with the father all that much.
Maybe singletons will have issues really getting emotionally affected by the kid being killed. I understand kids can behave stupidly but I just didn't feel the Mall scene was well executed . Maybe, when I eventually get to play it myself, it will have a different affect on me. It felt very contrived; there was nothing "natural" about it.
To improve the Mall scene I would have upped the pace quite a bit... yes it does rise, but it still does not really feel panicky enough, especially the way the masses react toward the father when he is clearly trying to shove people out of the way to get to his kid... I would have had a situation whereby people where actually being pushed/knocked to the ground... there needed to be more distinct contact, more drama... maybe at the last moment the dad falls and has to pick himself up; knocking people over while doing so... basically more chaos...
The acting is terrible during that section and kid's voice doesn't work very well... it is a shame, it is the only part I really wish I could avoid but yet it is so integral to the story...
Ben may understand what I am getting at; I just feel in that particular section, when one thinks of some of the classic Hollywood moments you get when a chase is happening or there is "real" drama with a kid drowning lets say (etc), the chaos needed to be more intense...
The rest of the game, from what I have seen... and recently played via the demo, looks superb and seems well executed; anyway I guess I will need to really give it a go first before I can make up my mind completely. The controls also bother me but I can get used to those in time... Anyone else feel similarly about the Mall scene in particular?

Heavy Rain, from what I am reading, seems to be fairly long, needing multiple play throughs... do you see yourself exclusively playing Heavy Rain like 10 times over in one shot, over a period of a week or two?
Maybe playing two games on and off in not such a bad thing considering they are two very different games :)

Qubex, I'm thinking Heavy Rain will probably be something I play once, then move on, then come back to over and over again throughout the year. It's not unusual for me to play 2 games at once, but I don't wanna be a pig with all these goodies :) However, since HR has so many endings, I think it would be okay. Ben seems to be going for the record.
Starting to care about trophies Ben? Or just need to see every ending?

And to add to the current conversation, I will play two games at the same time a lot, even in the same genre and people always say I shouldn't but it never hinders my enjoyment of either. As of now I am going through WKC on PS3 and Mass Effect 2 on PC and I am enjoying both very much. I can see doing Heavy Rain and another game simultaneously.

oh well i guess the game will have to do, i wish it would hurry up and come out because im bored sh*tless.
AVP is the biggest disappointment of the generation!
i was expecting it to be crap because of rebellions last 2 titles, but there still was a glimmer of hope it would turn out good.
and the PSM3 review certainly did not help.
9.1 MY A$$!
if AVP deserves a 9.1 than the avatar and mercenaries 2 deserve a 10.
AVP is the biggest disappointment of the generation, yes even more disappointing than resident evil 5 and GTAIV.
